Chapter 155: Xavier

Noah looked at his father in confusion. He wasn’t able to grasp what his father was thinking.

’The female they choose?’ He didn’t know why, but the first one to come to his mind was his mate. Noah felt uncomfortable just by the mere thought of that. If that was really the case, then he wouldn’t mind going against his father for the first time in his life. He could never let someone force an opinion on his precious mate.

"What do you mean by that?" Even the elders were flustered by the condition. Prince Xavier killed a female because he didn’t like her but she forced him to accept her as his mate. Hearing the lion king’s words, they felt an incoming headache. Anything but that! All of the elders had the same thing in their minds.

Amidst the inner turmoil within everyone gathered in the room, the lion king was calm. He steadily looked at each one of them and opened his mouth, "You heard it right the first time. The condition that prince Xavier has to complete after coming to the beast city is becoming mates with the female we choose"

"And who is that female, father?" He turned towards the urging voice of his son and smiled.

"You and Lucas know her too, son" his words made both of them frown.

"Uncle! Father!" Two male voices laced with threats underlying were heard inside the room.

Lucas understood it now. He turned toward his father in inquiry and noticed that even the silver wolf king had a relaxed expression. He felt irked by just seeing that. He wouldn’t be able to control his anger if his doubt really came true.

The elders still looked clueless, "Who is the female that you are talking about your majesty?"

The lion king decided to reveal it. He could almost see steam rising out of his son and Lucas’ heads.

"It is Elena from the Black wolf tribe"

Silence engulfed the entire room after his words. Noah looked at his father with a frown on his face and sighed as the latter smirked at him. His father was teasing him!

Lucas too felt relaxed but soon became confused. ’Why was the lion king choosing her?’

The lion king could see the annoyance in his son’s eyes. It was not his mistake, Noah was the one to misunderstand his words. From the beginning, he never meant to say his daughter-in-law’s name. For god’s sake, why would he even think about adding a love rival that might compete with his son in receiving affection from her? He would never!

But seeing his always calm son behaving so restless because of his daughter-in-law was indeed fun.

He turned his gaze away from his son and looked at the elders and said seriously, "This will be the punishment to both the black wolf tribe and fox tribe. You prince has to fulfill this or I might implore your tribe to leave the beast city right now"

Everyone knew about the charge regarding the black wolf tribe. King Alexander of the black wolf tribe unnecessarily ambushed the snake tribe and caused a disturbance in the city’s peace and tranquility.

The lion king had two things in mind while offering this suggestion. First, it was to bind that unruly prince from the fox tribe using a mate. Males became calmer and were able to think before doing something unpleasant if they had mates. No matter how strong they are, at the end of the day, they have to think about their mate’s safety before anything else.

And the second reason was to teach a lesson to the black wolf tribe’s king. That haughty and proud king will never agree to have a son-in-law who was once banished from the city in normal circumstances. But now he would have no other choice left other than to accept the fox prince to remain in the beast city.

This was a win-win situation for even his friend, Helio. That Elena girl always pestered Lucas even after knowing that he already had a mate and this would be a good opportunity to put an end to this by tying her with prince Xavier who was well known for being possessive about the things he liked.

After the discussion, Xavier was finally able to come into the beast city.

Lexi was waiting for her brother at the door and smiled seeing the familiar figure. Shining silver hair with red ends, unrivaled handsome features with two different colored Iris. Crimson in one eye and onyx in another.

Her gaze wavered seeing the eyes that made her brother shunned by others, but she quickly composed herself and smiled at him, "Welcome back brother...." She stood motionless as her brother walked past her without casting a single glance at her.

She blinked and quickly turned around, "Brother wait!"

He halted his steps but his back was still facing her. Lexi realized that this is the only chance she might get to talk to him. So she quickly parted her lips, "Mother wanted to meet you. She has been waiting for your return all these years"

Only silence greeted her back. She decided to say more but held back after hearing a cold voice, "Tell her to stop this act already. She is your mother and not mine" he clenched his fist before adding, "You of all know the truth, so stop addressing me as your brother"

He started to walk away and Lexi felt her eyes sting with tears, "No matter what, you will and always will be my brother"

Xavier ever so slightly halted his steps but soon left that place and entered the deeper part of the fox castle.

He walked for some time and reached the place he was heading for. A gigantic wooden door stood in front of him and he noticed ice creeping across the door. Cold air wafted around the space that could make someone chill to their bone.

Xavier darted his eyes at the wooden box on the table nearby. He walked towards it and held it in his hands. Sharp claws protruded from one of his hands and he brought it towards his other hand before grazing it. Blood flowed from his cut and he let it trickle on the wooden box.

The blood seeped deeper into the box and it glowed faintly. After the disappearance of that light, the box opened revealing a key made of ice.

Xavier took the key into his bloodied hands and walked back to the wooden door. With a ’click’ the door opened. His cut started to heal visibly as he entered the room.

His eyes were focused on nothing but the figure lying on the ice boulder.

"I have returned uncle....."
