"Someone who can manifest darkness?" Killian mused to himself and thought hard about it but nothing came to his mind.

"Does someone even have that power in the beast world?" Killian asked in confusion. Black Panthers were known to wield fire but it was only when they attained enough strength to control it. Controlling Kenna was not easy for him at first, he had to train for countless days for him to completely get accepted.

In this matter, he had to admit that Kyrell was more powerful than him. That bird wielded light attribute without any medium in between. But darkness was completely different, it was not pure energy like light but the opposite of it. Fiddling with darkness might sometimes swallow the wielder. Killian didn’t think that anyone in the beast world would be able to control darkness, "Darkness is very dangerous to wield Darcio. I don’t think anyone can control it in the beast world"

"There is always a rare possibility my, Lord" Darcio said seriously, "We never know about the things we have not yet witnessed" that was also true because there might be someone with that attribute but they just didn’t know about it.

Killain nodded, then another important thing flashed in his mind, "What can someone with darkness attribute perform? How can we recognize them if we meet one?"

Darcio thought about it and started explaining as much as he knew, "I heard this from my tribe’s elder when I was young. Someone with darkness as their attribute can create illusions against their opponents. He also mentioned that the illusions will be based on the opponent’s biggest fear. In simple words, the darkness wielder will attack and weaken his enemies mentally before physically fighting them"

Killian couldn’t connect the dots because he didn’t know about Blake getting under the illusion on the battlefield. Kyell released his power to break the illusion before Killian reached the snake tribe. Both Killian and Kyrell didn’t know about the illusion but Blake who experienced it that day was not here to confirm.

"Then what about a shadow creature? Is that also created by darkness" he asked this because he wanted to confirm if that rootless beastman was the one with the darkness attribute. Killian couldn’t take out that possibility because that black wolf was also an immortal beastman and they had not yet found the last one from the gem’s prophecy.

"Shadow creature?" Darcio asked in confusion, "I have never seen something like that my lord"

Killian sighed, "But I have seen it. A rootless immortal beastman from the black wolf tribe used a shadow creature to attack the eagle king" Darcio’s eyes widened as he continued, "I asked Kenna to suppress it at that time but I could sense that it was too powerful for me to destroy. And the most terrifying thing in this matter is that rootless beastman was very nonchalant while controlling and stopping the shadow creature"

Now that he was out of the mind’s control, Killian was able to deduce so many things. While welding one’s power, the wielder will have to go through physical strain. It was the same for him with Kenna. He had to concentrate and withstand the fire attribute inside him for Kenna to attack an opponent but that black wolf looked indifferent while fighting both Kyrell and Blake who were also so strong.

Darcio furrowed his brows, "I have never heard something like this my lord. That beastman being the one from prophecy is unreasonable because as you say, he is rootless. He cannot feel emotions or even mark a female as his mate but I think we should investigate him more to learn the truth"

Darcio couldn’t help but feel that something was wrong. The gem would never choose a rootless beastman to protect its master...right? This could wait but now the most important thing for him was to find his master. Not knowing Demir’s current location made him restless and worried. The mind control is still not removed and he was afraid that his master might do something irreversible.

In the outskirts of the beast city, Garrison looked up at the mountain in front of him and growled. He could sense Theodore’s presence on the peak of the mountain but he felt a dilemma. He was in his beast form and climbing up to the peak was difficult for a tiger.

’That annoying bird!’ He cursed inwardly and started climbing the mountain. Garrison wanted to return to his mate as soon as possible, so as a last resort, he shifted to his beastman form and reached the peak after hours of climbing.

"Theodore?" He growled loudly and the giant eagle inside the cave on top of the peak opened his eyes.

Theodore was confused but the voice that he heard felt familiar. Still, in his beast form, he stepped out of the cave and caught sight of Garrison’s annoyed face.

"What are you doing here you stupid bird!?" Garrison asked with a scowl on his face.

Theodore shifted to his beastman form and stepped forward but wrinkled his nose when he smelled his mate’s scent on Garrison. His heart bubbled with anger and in the next moment, he launched a fist across Garrison’s face.

The latter was caught off guard and fell to the ground because of the impact.

"Did you mate with my Iria?" His cold voice made Garrison frown, "Yes I did, what about it?"

Theodore clenched his jaw, "I will kill you!" Saying that he took a step forward but halted hearing Garrison’s next words, "You have not at all changed" he spit out the blood and glared before continuing, "Your selfishness took away my beloved once from my life but I will not allow that to happen again"

Theodore felt his heart clench hearing his words. Garrison’s words were true. Because of his possessiveness, he pushed away everyone near his mate. He loved her too much but he couldn’t help it. She was the only person in his life and heart.

"Iria is my mate too" Garrison warned in a low tone, "I know that she likes you, and I’m alright with it but only if you stay quiet and accept my presence in her life" then he sighed tiredly, "Or as you say, we can determine this with a duel. The one remaining alive will go back to Iria"

Theodore glanced at Garrison and bent his head, "I’m sorry, I was overwhelmed with the fact that you became her mate. I will accept your presence in our family"

Garrison’s eyes mellowed, "Let us not repeat the past mistakes, Theo. We have many enemies to worry about for us to fight each other"

"I know," Theodore remarked and shifted to his beast form flying up the sky.

Garrison too shifted to his beast form, a majestic tiger, and sprinted down the mountain.

After traveling for half a day, they finally reached the beast city. Soon they shifted into their beastmen form and reached the rose castle.

Lyra was still anxiously waiting for Killian when she caught sight of her father. Her eyes brightened and she rushed outside, "Father, Where were you for so many days?"

Theodore smiled looking at his adorable daughter, "I’m sorry for worrying you"

She shook her head and pulled him inside, "It’s fine as long as you are safe"

"Did you forget that I’m also standing here" Garrison’s playful voice caught her attention? She turned to him and smiled awkwardly, "Sorry I didn’t notice you"

"Don’t notice him, you are my daughter, not his" Theodore said and Garrison chuckled, "This rude fellow"

Theodore too smiled faintly and turned to his daughter, "Where is your mother, dear?"

Lyra glanced at the closed door of one of the rooms, "Mother has not come out after learning about your disappearance. She was so worried"

Theodore’s heart ached hearing her words. He stepped toward Iria’s room and knocked gently, "Iria it’s me"

Meanwhile, inside the room, Iria snapped opened her eyes, and rushed out of her bed. Her anxious heart calmed down as soon she opened the door and looked at the man standing in front of her.

Tears pooled in her eyes and she threw her arms around his neck embracing him, "I missed you!"

"I missed you too" he replied and caressed her back. Her sobs filled the entire place making him remorseful. When Gregory took her by poisoning his daughter, Theodore felt ashamed about being so incapable. He couldn’t keep his mate safe in the past and life without her was hell for him, but when Iria left again for saving thier daughter, he once again felt like falling into the depths of hell.

To vent out his frustration he left the beast city and kept flying until he was battered and tried to even take a step. In the moment of his desperation, his mate and daughter’s smiling face came to his mind. He wants to protect their smile and happiness no matter what he had to pay for that.
