Chapter 103: Silent meeting
As soon as Gregory and Prescott came out of the fox castle, a beastman rushed towards them. Gregory recognized him as Kyrell’s underling. He remained silent and observed the eagle beastman as he opened his mouth, "His highness asked me to bring you"
"Lead us" he replied and Prescott looked at him in confusion as they started walking, "Where are we going?"
"Eagle tribe"
"Eagle tribe?"
Gregory nodded his head, "We are going to help someone to seize the throne"
Prescott frowned, "I don’t understand"
Gregory decided to remain silent. Soon they reached the eagle tribe and halted their steps when they sensed a thick smell of blood. Prescott turned his head away from the immense stench, "Is there monsters around the beast city?"
Gregory’s mouth went dry seeing the complete wreckage of the eagle tribe. Prescott was right, it felt like some kind of monster outbreak instead of beastmen’s attack, and his blood drained from his face as he took more steps inside and saw that the one to cause this was not beastmen, but a single ’BEASTMAN’.
Light golden blonde hair fluttered against the cold breeze, Blood red iris stared at the beastman under his fists. He nonchalantly looked at his foster brother’s heart ripped out in his hands.
The eagle king glared up at him with bloodshot eyes but soon took his last breath sharply and entered the land of deads. Kyrell got up from the ground and threw the heart away. Turning back he looked at Gregory and said, "What should I do next?"
Gregory took a step back in fear. Blood and gore was something normal for beastmen but this? He advised him to seize the throne, but why did he have to destroy the entire tribe? "You killed your own tribesmen?"
Kyrell glanced at Nathan, "He is still alive"
"Only him?"
Nathan took a step forward and explained, "I evacuated tribesmen who supported us to a safe place, his highness will lose his sanity once he starts killing"
Gregory sighed a relief but soon became alert when he inferred that the one to keep some of the tribesmen safe was Nathan and not Kyrell. He would have probably killed even them if they were present. For the first time in his life, Gregory was rethinking his decision in joining hands with Kyrell.
As Gregory was lost in his thoughts, Prescott observed the young beastman in front of him with a frown on his face. He was without a doubt an immortal beastman but his powers were different and in simple words destructive. His ruby-like iris were filled with superiority. His pride hurt, but he was sure about one thing, and that is to never make an enemy out of this young man.
Kyrell frowned at them and repeated his earlier question, "Tell me what should I do after this?"
Gregory’s thoughts came to a halt hearing his words, "Arrange a banquet for your coronation. Invite all of the major tribes in the beast city, being affiliated to most of them, your mate will also attend" then he glanced at Nathan, "And the most important thing is not to let the other tribes know about this attack. Tell them that your tribesmen didn’t want the late king to rule because of his cruelty. Make sure to bring back the remaining eagle beastmen and explain this to them"
Nathan glimpsed at Kyrell and went on to carry out his task after receiving a nod.
The whole beast city was in shock when the news about the new eagle king reached their ears. Lion king and Sliverwolf king sat in the meeting room opposite each other with other kings in the remaining seats. As the princes of the three strongest tribes, Noah, Lucas, and Demir too attended the meeting.
Demir’s father who was not used to attending discussions with other tribes parted his lips, "What is the issue?"
Noah’s father glanced at him and informed, "There is a new king in the eagle tribe. His underlings are saying that the late eagle king was cruel to them so their new king decided to put an end to his rule"
The scorpion king frowned, "Isn’t it a good thing then?"
"The late eagle king Derek was stubborn and rigid but not cruel or that was what we observed" Lucas’s father was the one to reply.
"But it has got nothing to do with us, discussing other tribes’ matters might put all of us in danger. I even heard that the new king was an immortal beastman" Leopard king said his opinions. It was already bad for them to discuss another tribe’s matter much less criticize an immortal beastman.
Victor and Blake who remained silent glanced at each other. They too didn’t understand the concerns of Noah and Lucas’s fathers. They thought that it was normal for someone powerful to seize the higher position, it was already a wonder that the late eagle king ruled for so many years having someone more suitable than him in his tribe.
But the only ones to understand their father’s worry were their sons. Noah was confused about the sudden purge whereas Lucas was peering at the fox king who remained silent in the corner seat even after learning that the one to die was his son-in-law.
Whereas Jacob’s mind was somewhere else. He could care less about his already dead son-in-law, his daughter was safe inside his castle and that was enough for him. But the most worrying thing about all these was realizing that probably the one to cause all of this was that annoying merman.
He came out of his thoughts when he heard someone calling for him.
"Don’t you have anything to say in this matter fox king?" Lucas asked.
Jacob narrowed his eyes, "He was too weak and lost his throne. What can I say about this?"
"Aren’t you concerned about your daughter’s grief after losing her first partner?"
"Is she your daughter?" Jacob asked and Lucas closed his mouth, "I know how to take care of my daughter so keep your concerns to yourself" then he got up from his seat and strode out of the room.
Silence engulfed the entire space after his outburst and exit. As the one concerned didn’t seem to mind about this new king, the others too dismissed the meeting and went on their ways. They had to decide about attending the banquet organized by the new eagle king after all.
Noah and Lucas followed after their fathers to their respective tribes and only Blake, Demir and Victor remained inside the room.
"Should we attend the banquet?" Victor asked breaking the silence.
Blake nodded his head, "It is one of our responsibility as kings in the beast city to approve the new king"
Demir tapped the stone chair, "Will my sunshine also attend the banquet?"
"I’ll ask," Blake said getting up from his seat.
Blake and Victor returned to the rose castle and Demir retreated towards the scorpion tribe.
