Chapter 339: Chapter 337: Take Off the Mask, Let Me See
“What major leak? That book?”
“Yes. It’s the Angel Clan’s forbidden spell—the Un-series Apocalypse!”
“Un-series Apocalypse? What is that?”
“All the schools of magic known to the host, be it light, darkness, life, or the elements of wind, fire, water, earth, and wood, are considered elemental. And opposed to elemental is the un-elemental.”
“Un-elemental?”
“It’s just that this forbidden spell is incomplete, unfinished. According to Xiaomei’s speculation, a complete Un-series Apocalypse could turn a painting into blank, empty paper as if it had never existed, and even the person who painted it could be erased.”
“What if it’s used on a person? Wouldn’t the whole person disappear?”
“Indeed, that’s the forbidden spell! Xiaomei can deduce it, but it will take a very, very long time.”
“Who created this Un-series Apocalypse?”
“The Fallen Angel.”
“That doesn’t sound like a name.” Sally concluded that the other party must be an angel with a story, “Then have fun studying it. When I bought it, I thought it could be used by Xiaojiu, Xiaoshi, and Little Shisan.”
“This is a forbidden spell of the Angel Clan, naturally only angels can use it. However, the conditions for an angel to use it are extremely stringent.”
“Stringent?”
“Xiaomei speculates that the Fallen Angel must be an angel without Talent, and that’s why they could create the un-elemental. But according to the searches in the Main System’s database, there are only angels with varying levels of Talent, none without any Talent.”
“This book, how many years of history does it have? Can it be traced?”
“It’s hard to trace such inanimate objects. Maybe when Xiaomei upgrades to God Rank again, we can try.”
A cute female rabbit, dressed in black and white maid attire, with long ears and a short fluffy tail, was holding a thick stack of flyers and stopped Sally and Welly.
“Are you two lovebirds new to Katro City? Do you have a place to date? Our inn has just opened, and we’re offering big discounts: stay five days and get one free, stay eight days and get two free, stay a month and get ten free. Today is the last day of the event, don’t miss out!”
Sally looked at the rabbit female—it was Lin Xuexue.
Her real identity was Cassie Goulding, who was also a seeded squad by the Holy War Committee.
A glint of murderous intent flashed in her eyes momentarily, but she quickly suppressed it… If she killed her now, it would indeed reduce some known troubles, but there might arise other unknown squads.
It would be better to keep her, knowing more about the enemy would be advantageous for the Holy War.
Sally smiled and said, “We’re not lovers, nor are we staying at an inn. We’re siblings, heading to the Hundred Beasts Tower to watch the matches.”
“Siblings? Ah!” the female bunny hastily brought her hands to her mouth and lightly smacked her lips twice, “Sorry, sorry, I misunderstood. That black tower over there is the Hundred Beasts Tower. Take care on your way.”
After finishing, she took the flyers and hurried off to find other passersby, continuing to solicit guests.
Sally looked back at her and just happened to see her stopping a group—four men and a woman—promoting the inn enthusiastically… They took a flyer and followed her.
“She has a problem?” Welly asked.
Sally nodded and whispered back, “The chosen Holy Mother of the Holy War Committee.”
In response, Welly suddenly stopped walking. Under the mask, her usually cool and indifferent eyes lost their cool detachment and became grave, “Do we need to make a move?”
Sally shook her head, “A known enemy is far less fearsome than an unknown one.”
“… As you wish.” Welly looked at her, and once she confirmed Sally had no intention of taking action, she returned to her usual demeanor, clasping her hands behind her head, and nodded forward, “They’re coming.”
Yu Yan and Yin Zang, the two of them came out of the Hundred Beasts Tower one after the other. Yu Yan’s hands were holding a framed picture that had been wrapped up.
Sally narrowed her eyes as she looked at them.
“So, I have a match later…” Yu Yan chuckled, “Ten million Holy War Points!”
Sally took the picture and put it into the System Space, “It won’t work, we have to go.”
“But I want to fight in the tournament!” Yin Zang said stubbornly.
Sally: “… Even if I disagree, you’ll still fight?”
Yin Zang nodded vigorously, “Yes!”
He was serious.
Sally finally shrugged helplessly, “Fine, fine, but we move as a team, and we leave together using a Teleportation Scroll if anything happens.”
“Okay.” Yin Zang immediately pulled Yu Yan away, his entire body radiating with fighting spirit. The passersby around him quickly moved away.
“Did you just say we’re siblings?” Welly looked down, her gaze playfully fixating on Sally.
“What’s wrong?” Sally asked.
“I can’t keep calling you Sister Su, can I?”
“So what do you want to call me?”
“Yanyan?”
“No way!”
“Little Yan?”
“Just call me Sister Su.”
“You’re younger than me, it’s against the norm.”
What kind of norm is that… Sally was speechless, “The term ‘sister’ doesn’t necessarily refer to age, it might just be a way to differentiate from a male title.”
“What if I insist on calling you Yanyan?”
Sally looked at the mask on his face, “Take off the mask, let me see.”
“No.”
“Then it’s not the same.”
Sally couldn’t be bothered with him and walked towards the Hundred Beasts Tower.
Welly watched her slender figure from the side, “Yanyan, wait for me, bro.”
Sally stumbled and nearly fell over.
…
Hundred Beasts Tower.
Rooms 11 and 12 on the 9th floor were the accommodations for Yu Yan and Yin Zang in the Hundred Beasts Tower.
Sally took the key to room 11.
All three of them stayed together in room 12, and no one objected.
Sally soaked in a hot bath, stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window in her light purple and blue silk pajamas, sipping on red wine while looking out over the neon-bathed Katro City, bustling with traffic.
‘Knock knock knock’—the sound of knocking on the door.
Sally checked her clothes, “Just a minute.”
She changed into a white round-neck tank top and loose, deep-grey wide-legged pants, casual and comfortable.
She went to open the door.
Welly was in a tailored black suit, his black hair damp, probably just washed. The mask on his face added a mysterious air to him.
“Come in, where are the other two?”
“Yin Zang has a match to prepare for, so he went ahead, and Yu Yan went with him. I am responsible for ensuring your safety.”
“No need, I have the Offspring System, no one in this Holy War can hurt me so far, you guys just take care of yourselves.”
“Aren’t you going to watch the match?”
“I’ll go when Yu Yan starts; you can go if you want to watch, I know which match he’s in.”
“I’ll keep you company.”
Sally poured him a glass of wine.
Welly took it, lifting the mask that was covering his mouth upwards, revealing his lips.
Sally had seen the little mechanism on his mask more than once, but she found it fascinating every time, “Why do you wear a mask?”
“I’ve been used to it since I can remember, Aunt Yue made me wear it,” he replied.
“Aunt Yue?” Sally was curious.
“Aunt Yue is the person who saved my life, she even died once for me.”
“Then you should be really good to her.”
“Mhm.”
Welly looked at her and after a pause, he asked, “What’s your beast form, a mouse?”
