Chapter 712: Chapter 642: The Secluded Nest Bar

Underground trading market... Qiao Sang was momentarily stunned, having only seen such markets on TV dramas.

"Could you send me the specific address?" Qiao Sang asked.

"No problem," Love Without Result readily agreed.

Shortly after, her phone received a private message from the official Beast Taming Center website.

Qiao Sang hung up the phone and opened the message:

[39 Kaxie Street]

Qiao Sang looked up the distance on the navigation, 11.2 kilometers away.

Not too far...

She pondered for a moment, then went to a nearby clothing store and bought a black hooded jacket and a pack of white medical masks from the pharmacy next door.

The TV dramas always depicted characters being targeted at underground trading markets for various reasons, and those who chanced upon valuable finds were often robbed when they left. Although she did not truly understand what an underground trading market was like, it was still best to be cautious.

Qiao Sang put on the black jacket, hiding her general appearance with the shadow of the hood, then put on the mask.

"Yaobao, Gangbao, you guys are too conspicuous; go into the Beast Taming Codex for now. The place I’m going to requires me to keep a low profile," said Qiao Sang.

Pet Beasts are the hallmark of a Beast Tamer, especially the rare ones. Some people might not remember a Beast Tamer’s name or face, but as soon as they see the Pet Beast, they would recall the Beast Tamer who owns it.

Yaobao was a Pet Beast of Blue Star, and currently, it was the only Liaoxing Dog in that form. Even if she disguised herself, anyone who had seen Yaobao would be reminded of her.

Gangbao’s form as a Little Steel Falcon was a brand new one, too unique and easy to remember.

Having them by her side would render any attempt to disguise her appearance meaningless at the underground trading market.

"Ya Ya..."

Yaobao showed an expression of helplessness.

It understood; it was too handsome. With it around, there was no way to keep a low profile.

Qiao Sang: "..."

"Steel Guardian."

Gangbao nodded calmly.

Qiao Sang waved her hand and received them back into the Beast Taming Codex.

"Xun Xun?"

Xiao Xunbao couldn’t help but reveal itself, asking if it was inconspicuous.

Qiao Sang’s mouth twitched: "You can become invisible."

"Xun Xun?"

Xiao Xunbao looked contemplative.

Does that mean it must not appear in front of others later?

"Not necessarily," Qiao Sang said. "If I encounter danger, just take action."

Keeping Xiao Xunbao outside was not only because it could become invisible but mainly for it to offer protection promptly.

After all, this was the Middle Districts, where wild Pet Beasts could suddenly appear; it was always safer to have at least one Pet Beast by her side.

"Xun Xun!"

The moment Xiao Xunbao heard that, its spirit was uplifted, and it nodded seriously.

Its own Beast Tamer didn’t call for Lubao to take action, but asked it to do so.

What did that imply?

It implied that in the eyes of its Beast Tamer, it was definitely more formidable than Lubao!

Indeed, the position of second in command was still its!

While Xiao Xunbao was filled with enthusiasm, Qiao Sang spoke:

"Lubao, you do the same. Don’t show yourself casually. If there is danger and Xiao Xunbao can’t handle it, then you come out."

"Bingke."

Lubao called out from the backpack, indicating it understood.

"Xun Xun..."

Xiao Xunbao’s body instantly stiffened.

"Can’t handle it..."

"You come out..."

Did that mean...

"Xun Xun!"

Xiao Xunbao gritted its teeth, its eyes filled with determination.

There was no situation it couldn’t handle!

Qiao Sang was completely unaware of Xiao Xunbao’s resolve.

She flagged down a taxi and headed for the Youchao Bar.

A few minutes later, Qiao Sang, wearing a hoodie and a mask, entered the Youchao Bar.

The lighting was soft, free from noisy uproar or huddles of frantically dancing figures.

The music was soothing, very much like the ambiance of a music bar.

On the stage, a pet beast that Qiao Sang couldn’t identify was "woo-wooing" as it sang a song.

Though she didn’t understand the lyrics, there was no denying the melody was quite nice.

The booths were nearly filled to capacity.

At the entrance, a staff member stopped Qiao Sang:

"Hello, please show your ID card."

"Why?" Qiao Sang asked.

"We need to check your age. Minors aren’t allowed inside," the staff said.

Darn it, I almost forgot I’m a minor... Qiao Sang paused, then said with an unchanged expression, "I forgot my ID card. Can I use my Beast Taming Badge instead?"

Upon hearing this, the staff’s smile immediately became more respectful: "Of course."

Qiao Sang took out her Beast Taming Badge, flashed it briefly in front of the staff, and asked, "Is this okay now?"

Although it was only a quick glimpse, the staff clearly saw that it was a D-rank Beast Tamer’s Beast Taming Badge.

"Please come in," the staff stepped aside.

Actually, according to procedure, a Beast Taming Badge had to display its information, but since the person was a D-rank Beast Tamer, the staff subconsciously dismissed the possibility that she was underage.

That was close, good thing I’m wearing a mask... Qiao Sang hurried inside toward the bar.

She remembered that in TV series, this was where information was exchanged.

"What would you like to drink?" the handsome bartender with silver jewelry earrings asked with a smile.

Qiao Sang pushed her Beast Taming Badge forward, getting straight to the point: "I’m here to make a transaction."

The bartender’s smile didn’t fade:

"Don’t you want to drink something before you go?"

"No, thanks," Qiao Sang declined.

The bartender smiled and asked, "Is this your first time here?"

Qiao Sang gave a noncommittal "Hmm": "Someone referred me here."

"No wonder." The bartender mixed something, then pushed forward a blue-green drink, saying, "Take a sip, then you’ll be able to find the place you’re looking for."

Qiao Sang hesitated for a moment, picked up the glass, and took a sip after pulling down her mask.

It was at that moment when she was drinking that she detected a scent similar to mint.

And even after she set the glass down, the scent persisted.

Qiao Sang quickly put her mask back on, fearing the other party might suspect her age if they saw her face full of collagen.

"How much?" Qiao Sang asked.

"This drink is on the house," the bartender said. "Are you smelling a scent now?"

Is he talking about this mint smell? Qiao Sang gave a confirming "Hmm."

The bartender smiled: "Follow that scent, and it’ll lead you where you want to go."

How strange... Qiao Sang was internally surprised, but kept a calm face: "I got it."

With that, she stood up and followed the direction of the mint scent.

Somehow, even though there were smoky and various other disordered scents in the air, the mint was exceptionally clear.

This underground market was rather mysterious. Wouldn’t it be easier if someone just showed the way? Must have a drink and follow a scent... QIao Sang silently criticized in her mind as she followed the mint trail through the air.

It seems she really is a Beast Tamer... The bartender watched the girl’s retreating figure for a while before quietly looking away.

QIao Sang followed the scent through twists and turns, traversing many corridors before arriving at the door of a private room.

There was constant laughter inside the room; obviously, it was occupied.

But the mint scent was clearly coming from inside... Qiao Sang paused momentarily and then knocked on the door.

Suddenly, the door swung open.

A pet beast, almost entirely green with grass-like tufts of hair on its head, appeared before Qiao Sang.

In the moment it emerged, Qiao Sang was certain: the mint scent was coming from it.

"Bo Bo."

The pet beast with the mint scent stepped aside and called out.

QIao Sang guessed its meaning and stepped inside.

The people inside went quiet for a few seconds.

However, they soon acted as if they hadn’t seen Qiao Sang at all, and resumed their chatter and laughter.

"Bo Bo."

The pet beast with the mint scent led QIao Sang to a spot on the wall and knocked twice.

A secret door slowly opened.

Qiao Sang glanced inside to see a staircase leading downward.
