Chapter 700: Chapter 630: The Nineteenth District
District 19.
Qiao Sang cradled Yaobao in her arms as she walked off the flying ship and headed outside.
"Lu Lu."
A pet beast, mostly brownish-grey and resembling a baboon, stepped forward, pointed at the backpack she was carrying, then tensed its arm, showing off its well-developed muscles.
Nowadays, Qiao Sang was no longer completely ignorant about the situation on Chao Su Star.
She pulled out a ten-dollar bill from her pocket and handed it to the pet beast before her, smiling,
"You don’t need to help with the bag, but can you tell me which way to the subway?"
"Lu Lu."
The baboon-like pet beast took the money, grinned, and pointed to the left.
Qiao Sang thanked it and, without hesitation, stepped off towards the right.
The directionally challenged baboon-like creature, a mid-level ground-type pet beast, couldn’t tell east from west, let alone distinguish left from right, yet it had a peculiar fondness for giving directions.
She had read in a book that if you encounter a directionally challenged baboon-like creature offering to help carry items or show the way, it’s best not to refuse, as it will follow you until you require its assistance.
About twenty minutes later, Qiao Sang successfully reached the subway station and boarded the subway, following the route she had planned in advance.
District 19, classified as part of the middle districts, surprisingly had just as many wild pet beasts as the lower districts, but thanks to Koteria Volcano acting as a border, it was divided into two parts.
Known as Left Pang City and Right Pang City.
Left Pang City was home to a large number of wild pet beasts, while Right Pang City was the most flourishing part of District 19, inhabited by nearly seventy percent of the district’s population.
Despite the identical architectural style, the housing prices in Right Pang City were almost five times those in Left Pang City.
Even so, the residents of District 19 were still desperately trying to earn money to settle in Right Pang City because, to them, safety was the most important.
Before arriving, Qiao Sang had already gained a general understanding of District 19.
Last night, she had already booked the hotel where she would stay.
Regarding where she would live, Qiao Sang had given it a lot of thought.
Since Koteria Volcano was an active volcano, hardly anyone would choose to live near it, and around Koteria Volcano, only some wild pet beasts were active.
She immediately ruled out the hotels on the side of Left Pang City.
With a high number of wild pet beasts that were difficult to manage, setting aside the question of danger, one might even have wild pet beasts causing disturbances in their rooms while they were sound asleep.
The news reported that residents of Left Pang City often complained about wild pet beasts intruding while they were bathing or being intimate, which was quite inconvenient.
As for the Beast Taming Center in the busiest central area of Right Pang District, even though it was convenient, it was too far from Koteria Volcano.
She wasn’t here to complete Yaobao’s evolution with just one trip to the volcano.
Koteria Volcano erupted roughly every half month, and she planned to go there twice; the first time to significantly increase Yaobao’s points to see if it reacted to the volcano. After all, evolution only happened once, and she didn’t want to let Yaobao evolve incorrectly due to her own misjudgment.
Meanwhile, she also had to wait for the vice-principal’s arrival.
Therefore, she needed to find a hotel that was convenient for traveling to Koteria Volcano, had relatively good security, and possessed a large-scale training field, where she could stay for over a month.
Sota Hotel was an excellent choice.
The hotel was only about a ten-minute drive from Koteria Volcano, and from the most expensive panorama rooms, one could see Koteria Volcano in the distance.
She could be well aware whenever it erupted.
As far as the eye could see, Xiao Xunbao could instantly perform spatial movement to get there.
Most importantly, there was an extremely large public outdoor training field just one kilometer away from the hotel.
Apart from the occasional tourists who wanted to see the volcano during holidays and might pass by to relax, the place was usually deserted. Therefore, releasing powerful skills in this training field wouldn’t risk harming anyone else’s pet beasts.
"Terry Station has arrived, please prepare to disembark with your belongings," announced the voiceover from the broadcast.
The carriage door opened, Qiao Sang stood up, and a crowd of people rushed in, many brushing past her.
Just as Qiao Sang was about to step out of the carriage.
Suddenly, she realized her pocket had become lighter.
Qiao Sang felt something and stopped in her tracks, reaching into her pocket.
Where’s the Chan Chan Stone?!
Qiao Sang froze for a moment, then quickly turned to look at the group of people who had just come into the carriage.
Who had stolen the Chan Chan Stone? Or perhaps someone was trying to steal something from her pocket but didn’t realize what they had taken... The Chan Chan Stone must have been asleep; otherwise, it wouldn’t have been taken without any reaction... Qiao Sang furrowed her brow and said loudly,
"Who took my Chan Chan Stone?"
The carriage doors closed just then, and the announcement boomed: "Next stop, Nus Station."
The people in the carriage looked over.
They first glanced at Qiao Sang, and then their eyes fell on Yaobao.
Holding a Pet Beast... everyone thought in unison before averting their gaze, with no response.
Qiao Sang sighed inwardly and relaxed her grip.
"Ya Ya!"
Yaobao jumped to the ground, baring its teeth, and then began to grow larger and larger.
The crowd was startled and cried out, rising quickly to distance themselves.
"I’ll ask again, who took my Chan Chan Stone," Qiao Sang said calmly.
"It was him!" A white-haired old lady pointed at a gaunt-faced boy next to her and exclaimed loudly, "I saw him stick his hand into your pocket!"
The boy was silent, burying his head low.
Qiao Sang looked at him.
About two seconds passed before the boy pulled out the Chan Chan Stone from his pocket and threw it towards Qiao Sang, then broke free from the old lady’s hold and dashed towards another carriage.
Qiao Sang didn’t chase him but reached out to catch the Chan Chan Stone securely.
"Chan Chan..."
The Chan Chan Stone was sound asleep, utterly unaware it had almost been kidnapped.
Yaobao promptly shrank back down to size.
Seeing this, the crowd sighed in relief.
Then, the announcement came:
"Nus Station, please prepare to exit the train with all your belongings."
The carriage doors opened, and Qiao Sang put the Chan Chan Stone back into her pocket and stepped off the train, with Yaobao following close behind.
At Nus Station, they had entered the domain of Left Pang City... Qiao Sang looked at the wild Pet Beasts lying around or walking by, their numbers dramatically increased, and suddenly remembered this matter.
She pondered for a moment and made a hand seal, intending to summon Gangbao.
The Middle Districts were certainly much more chaotic than the Upper Districts.
On the subway, Yaobao and Lubao’s three-meter size wasn’t convenient to revert to their original size, Xiao Xunbao was too small to be intimidating, so it was best to keep Gangbao by her side. Gangbao was only about a meter tall and could ride the subway. Pickpockets seeing it would probably think twice about targeting her.
The orange Star Array was extremely conspicuous.
Most people still living in Left Pang City were ordinary people or Beast Tamers of not-so-high levels. The color of the Star Array instinctively made them flinch and take a detour.
Not far off, the gaunt-faced boy stopped in his tracks when he saw the orange Star Array.
Realizing something, he looked at Qiao Sang, with a flicker in his eyes.
A man wearing black clothes with two tufts of a mustache slapped the back of his head:
"You little rascal, who told you to steal from Beast Tamers!"
