Beast-Tamer: Limitless Evolution -
Chapter 52: Inspection
Chapter 52: Inspection
Inspection
Major Thompson watched silently as the scene of the battle against the Skyblight Harbinger was replayed over and over again.
The more they replayed it, the more things they discovered about it and its capabilities. Which was to say, they were simply flabbergasted by how much a single creature was able to do.
Sure, the stronger a beast became, the more things they would be able to do as they became more experienced with their affinity to increase their kit of abilities.
But that was for beasts with only ONE affinity. Sometimes beasts had two affinities, but it was more common for them to have an affinity and a trait tied directly to their race, like the Raptor Gale killed which seemed to possess special vision.
Yet, ot only did this creature possess the wind affinity, it also possessed a lightning affinity. Not to mention, the wind and lightning weren’t simple due to the fact that they either corrupted Mana or were made up of corrupted Mana, the difference being that the later was a lot less damaging to the surroundings.
It seemed to have an inherent resistance to magic, but it didn’t seem to be too high considering the damage Mrs Jane’s last attack did to it. It seemed intelligent as well, not recklessly attacking Mrs Jane but instead using probing attacks to see what she could and couldn’t do. Something that clearly worked for it as it managed to heavily injure her.
Then came that strange dust it released. It seemed like a passive ability that could be defended against if one had good enough Mana control. If one didn’t, though, it seemed capable of inducing madness on whoever inhaled it or touched it. Not to mention that it appeared to temporarily increase the strength of those that inhaled it, but it was only temporary, and when it ran out, the results were quite dire.
People were still monitoring the beast tide and they recorded that beasts which were no longer inflicted by the strange madness after it ran out would collapse. Not dead, but severely weakened, and the longer a beast was exposed to such a thing, the worse it would get. Meaning that beasts constantly taking it in would most likely die once the effect wore off.
Other than that, there was its ability to shoot its feathers out like bullets. It didn’t seem to be a powerful single target skill as Mrs Jane had destroyed it with relative ease, but it would be good for crowd control, which was bad for the Citadel as that meant jumping it with people who couldn’t adequately defend themselves wasn’t the smartest idea.
It was also, unsurprisingly, very fast, as it left its army behind when it decided to attack the convoy. And speaking of...
’Why would it do that? It clearly had an agenda.’ It didn’t take long for him to put two and two together.
’Right, that Osho kid and his beast. Is it possible it sensed that his beast’s bloodline was a threat and deemed it necessary to be eliminated? It would make sense, considering the result of that exchange.’ He mused, the abilities the Skyblight Harbinger possessed were simply jarring, so that just made Gale’s feat of singlehandedly restraining it all the more impressive.
"Uh, sir. I got the information you wanted." At that moment, the handlers who was in charge of documenting any anomalies the other handlers detected came up to him, her brows furrowed slightly.
Major Thompson glanced at her. He’d asked her to dig up whatever information she could on Osho and bring it to him. He wasn’t expecting to find much, as he largely believed Osho had just been lucky when hatching his beast. But seeing her distraught expression when she was usually collected made him realize that perhaps, the boy wasn’t so simple.
She handed him a tablet and he took it from her. Once he read over the information, he raised a brow.

Major Thompson hummed to himself.
’Surname Redacted, General status Classified. Interesting. I guess he isn’t so simple.’ He thought as he still tapped the general status option which then transitioned to a screen asking him to put in his name, rank, and identification.
Major Thompson followed all these steps and the thing asked for his fingerprint which he promptly gave, having full confidence that his authority level was high enough for him to view the information.
So it wasn’t odd when his pupils shrank at the following message.
[Insufficient authority to view file. Level 5 clearance or higher is required to view file. If you attempt to access this file again, you will be punished accordingly.] Major Thompson read the words in bold red and his pupils shrank.
He was of the highest authority within their Citadel, second only to the Citadel Lord, who had an Authority level of 3. For someone to have an Authority of level 5 required them to be the head of a Zenith Class Citadel at the very LEAST.
’Just what is his background then? This isn’t as simple as hiding someone important anymore? Now i have questions, many questions.’ Major Thompson exhaled and dropped the tablet.
"You can return to your post." He told the handlers and she nodded. As curious as he was, chasing the matter would only get him into trouble. However, he now had a clearer idea on what he wanted to do.
"Sir, they have arrived." The same handler suddenly returned and Major Thompson perked up.
"I see. Continue handling things here then, its will go and meet them myself."

The helicopted landed in a facility that was close to the center of the Citadel. The observation center was located in the military base of the Citadel, so it covered quite a bit of land.
As soon as the helicopters landed and they disembarked, Mrs Jane and Osho were immediately swarmed by a bunch of medical personnel and soldiers, but mostly Mrs Jane.
She looked annoyed, but they somehow managed to convince her to lie in a moving hospital bed (A/N: I’m telling you I forgot what it was called.)
Osho walked next to her as she was rolled into a building, Simon also walking with them as theybwere taken into a theater.
"Sir Osho? I apologize but we will have to attend to you separately." A doctor spoke and Osho looked at him for a second before nodding, Simon surprisingly following.
As they walked, Osho inspected the military hospital. It was quite clean and well kept, along with the smell associated with hospitals, being lots of sterilization and iodine.
It was also pretty heavily fortified. Soldiers lined every corner of the place, each one vigilant and ready to summon their beast at any given moment.
Eventually, he was escorted to another room, this one not much smaller than the theater Mrs Jane was taken to, but it seemed less like a place for surgery and more like a Coroner’s office.
"Please place down your beast." The doctor gestured to the table and Osho complied. Simon stopped the soldiers from entering inside, leaving only him, Osho, and the doctor.
"Hm, it’s not every time you see an avian beast with four wings. Much less one which all the wings work and complement each other without causing any chaos in the body." The doctor immediately got to work as he started to check Gale’s body. His hands moved expertly across the bird’s body touching and prodding to discover anything.
"Its muscles are also very dense, a lot denser than what one woukd expect to find in a Novuce ranked beast, yet they are also incredibly light. An odd yet fitting contradiction, considering how it’s built. It specializes in speed, correct?" He asked Osho and he nodded.
Osho looked at Simon from the corner of his eye. The man was staring at the process intently, like he wanted to learn everything he could about Gale based on the doctor’s explanations.
After a while, the doctor nodded and retracted his hands.
"There are no issues as fqr as I can detect. It seems to just be exhaustion. It should wake up after a while. When that happens, be sure to give it lots of high nutrition foods so that it can recover quickly. I’ve never heard of a beast manifesting its bloodline at the Novice rank. It’s an impressive feat, but evidently energy consuming. It will be weak for some time after." Osho nodded again, expecting such a thing.
He opened his mouth to ask a question, but thats when the door to the room opened.
