Beast-Tamer: Limitless Evolution
Chapter 104: Uproar

Chapter 104: Uproar

Uproar

"Oh? It seems like we are about to have our first confrontation, and it’s numerous students from the Vermillion Academy surrounding the second seed, Eleanor Trost. Is this the rivalry between schools showing its face? Or something else?" Mira said with a cute/curious expression as the camera captured the ongoing altercation.

The commentators looked irritated in their booths as Mira continued to talk and comment on key events, which was their job, but there wasn’t much they could do about it, especially with how enraptured she had the crowd.

Everyone watched as a fight seemed ready to break out.

Sugil hissed as she flew around Ellie protectively, her Aura becoming less and less restrained as the other students got closer.

Ellie expanded her Mana sense as she watched the scene calmly.

’The three in the back will attack first.’ She noted that their beasts looked ready to lunge forward.

’Sugil, get ready.’ She instructed, and the snake hissed in affirmation. But just as things were about to get heated...

"Interesting situation." Everyone paused.

The students from the Vermillion Academy frowned while Ellie relaxed visibly.

Osho calmly walked towards them with his hands in his pockets. He looked wholly unperturbed by the situation and didn’t even seem to acknowledge the Vermillion Academy students.

"Hey, can’t you see that we are talking here?" The girl from before said with irritation, clearly unhappy with the turn of events.

"Bold of you to assume that I care." Osho shrugged and turned to Ellie.

"Ready to go? I found a good hunting spot." Ellie smiled and calmly walked past the ones surrounding her as she went to Osho’s side.

"You were fast. Did you come here immediately after we started?" She asked, and Osho nodded.

"I’d have been faster, but there was some holdup." He replied, referring to the giant centipede beast he killed and having to go around the congregation of alligators.

"So are we gonna find the others?" Ellie inquired with a head tilt.

"Naturally. But we won’t rush too much. I’m sure they are already making their way to each other, and we can slowly rack up points on the way." Osho explained, and Ellie hummed in acknowledgment.

As the two of them conversed, the girl and the other students from Vermillion Academy were getting increasingly annoyed. They had come here with a goal, but not only had this no-name come and interrupted them, he was also causing them to be ignored!

"Hey!" She yelled and took a step forward, her previous apprehension giving way to anger.

"I don’t care who you are, but you can’t just come and interrupt a conversation like that! It’s rude!" She said and pointed at Osho.

Osho: ( ・◇・)?

"What do you mean rude? You were surrounding her and giving her no opportunity to escape. She just walked over to me." Osho countered with a raised brow. He didn’t sound particularly heated, just confused by her logic.

She grit her teeth.

"Well... we started talking to her first!" Someone chimed up, and the others voiced their agreement.

Osho and Ellie shared a look. Then they turned and started walking away.

"Wha- HEY! You can’t just leave!" She yelled and was promptly ignored.

Veins bulged on her face, and she clenched her fists.

"Arrogant bastards!" She sent a command through her bond, and her beast immediately got ready to attack.

The other students around her also got ready as they prepared to attack, but before they could—

CHILL

Their beasts that had been ready to lunge forward all recoiled visibly, as though they’d been hit by some invisible force. And in a few ways, that was correct.

The beasts that seemed bloodthirsty a moment ago were all letting out fearful sounds as they backed away. Their tamers were shocked.

’What? Why?’ The girl was taken aback. The fear she was feeling through her bond was so overpowering that she knew that she wouldn’t be able to send her beast forward, and forcing it would only lead to negative effects.

’What did they do..?!’ She lifted her gaze to the retreating figures of Osho and Ellie, and her breath caught.

She hadn’t paid too much attention to it before, but the beast of that guy, that bird, was looking at them.

But as she saw them now, she didn’t notice the aura nor the green undertone.

It was those eyes.

Pure, and utter disdain.

Eyes that seemed to pierce through her very soul and seemed so deep and unfathomable, it was like staring into the vast, open sky.

Instantly, she was hit with a feeling of utter insignificance. She knew that if she tried, she’d be dead before she understood what happened.

Her thoughts started to get muddled. She couldn’t think, couldn’t -

Then it was over.

She blinked and took a step back.

"H-Huh..." She looked down at her hands. They were trembling.

’What... happened?’ She thought vaguely and looked around. Her fellow classmates looked equally frightened. Some had even fallen on their asses as whatever just happened shook them just as, if not more than her.

___

’Nicely done.’ Osho commended Gale through their bond. The bird had once more taken to the air and was serving as a pathfinder for him and Ellie as they traversed the environment.

’Hmph. They were too weak to pose a threat. I just had to show them who was boss, and that got the job done.’ Gale replied with a snort, but the pride seeping through the bond was palpable.

Osho chuckled inwardly and took note of how Gale managed to construct another proper sentence and praised him for it.

As for what Gale had done. Well, it was another case of bloodline suppression.

While the beasts of those students weren’t avians, they were still affected by the presence of a creature that had a higher universal standing than they. Gale’s existence was just that much higher than theirs, despite the rank gap being only one.

Not to mention, his bloodline had become exceedingly potent after the last evolution. As such, Gale didn’t even need to manifest his bloodline, he just needed to make its existence known through his presence, and that was more than enough to deter the overly loyal students.

"Hm. Something tells me you just attracted a looot of attention." Ellie said with an impish smirk that made Osho roll his eyes.

"It was inevitable." He shrugged. He was prepared to do his best from the get-go, so attracting attention was inevitable.

What he didn’t know was just how much of an uproar he caused.

Backtracking a few minutes to when Gale had essentially told the other beasts to screw off with his bloodline, the crowd went wild when they saw the students from the Vermillion Academy get suppressed.

It didn’t take long for them to ascertain that Osho was the one who had interrupted the potential battle, and many people were dissatisfied when a possible fight had been staved off. Even more so when they saw that, compared to the Vermillion Academy students that were there, Osho was of a lower-ranking seed.

But things got weird when they saw how casually he interacted with Ellie, and it got worse when they saw how Ellie seemed more than happy to follow him.

At this point, many people had started speculating. Perhaps the two of them had some sort of relationship? It’d make sense, seeing how casual they were even before the exam started.

However, the uproar started when Gale flaunted his bloodline.

He hadn’t manifested it, so no one could tell if it was a bloodline or not. At least not initially, but it didn’t take a genius to figure out that there was some form of suppression going on that affected the beasts.

As such, people started speculating what had happened, and for once, the commentators were able to do their job as they had a team of professional analysts who were good at figuring out these types of things.

"That was quite the situation, huh Kent?" One of the commentators, a female said to her colleague, their voices sounding across all televisions and radios.

"Mhm. While I expected a confrontation, I didn’t think that would be the result. But after hearing what our experts have to say, I’m sure that Osho kid is a lot more complicated than everyone had initially thought. What do you reckon, Ruth?" Kent asked with a cheerful tone.

"That’s an understatement. From what we’re hearing, there’s a high chance his beast has a bloodline! And what we just witnessed is a phenomenon called bloodline suppression where a beast is confronted by bad nother beast that is higher than it on the metaphorical food chain, and the consequences of this is that the beast being suppressed feels an overwhelming level of fear in its very being, making it unable to approach or disobey. It’s a lot more complicated than simple rank gaps, moreover, it’s possible for beasts of a higher rank to be suppressed by those of a lower rank due to them possessing a bloodline! It’s a marvel, really, and more than surprising to find a beast with a bloodline within this exam. It seems like Bright Spark Academy had a lot more tricks up their sleeves than we’d given them credit for."
