Vol 4 Chapter 108: A Hundred Years Is Not Too Late
Hearing the Ancient Prince call the First Generation Ancient Emperor a “monster,” Lin Jing instantly knew this kid had taken a dead-end path.
If circumstances had allowed, Lin Jing honestly wanted to teach him a little hometown tune.
♪ What’s your daddy’s daddy’s name? ♪
“Heh.” There would come a day when this Ancient Prince would kneel and call him grandpa. Lin Jing looked at him calmly and said, “If you’ve got something to say, just say it.”
“My third brother described your battle with the Tianming Realm cultivators to me. Especially the final fight with that girl possessing the Heaven’s Mercy Physique. I doubt it was as simple as them giving up voluntarily like they said.” The Ancient Prince’s eyes were sharp.
“This last fight was the Tianyuan Realm’s final chance to gather intelligence on the Tianming Realm. I don’t think you would’ve let that slip.”
“Back when you wanted to conceal the Longevity Body, you were already practicing powerful illusions at the Qi Refining Stage, weren’t you? Outside Qianlong Academy, when you fought Fang Shilin from Evergreen Valley, you showed quite a bit of illusion skill… If I’m not wrong, before the Tianming cultivator surrendered, you already used illusion or other tricks to get the intel you wanted.”
Lin Jing was slightly surprised—this Ancient Prince wasn’t just insanely talented; he had brains too...
Nothing to deny.“So what if I did.” Lin Jing spoke up. “You want intelligence on the Tianming Realm? Fine. Bring me something worthwhile in exchange.”
Lin Jing had originally planned to report the Pangu Continent intelligence to the Demon Emperor, and then let the Tianyuan Pathseekers decide together whether to make contact with the Cultivation Alliance. But since the Ancient Prince was so desperate for it now, Lin Jing didn’t mind making things difficult for him.
“You name it.” The Ancient Prince’s gaze flickered—he was prepared for Lin Jing to ask for the moon. Intel on the Tianming Realm and other cultivation realms was indeed extremely important to him.
“Then I will.” Lin Jing said, “Before I stepped onto the path of cultivation, I accidentally entered a demonic cultivator base called Qing Niu Dao Guan. Inside, a Daoist named Qing Niu sold me to the Yin Corpse Sect. He disappeared after that. You help me capture this Qing Niu Daoist—alive if possible. If he’s dead, you’ll find a way to revive him and hand him over to me.”
Lin Jing suddenly remembered this unresolved grudge and said it casually.
Ancient Prince: ?
“Qing Niu Daoist?” The Ancient Prince hadn’t expected this at all. That was such an old incident—how many years ago was that? The Yin Corpse Sect was already wiped out, and Lin Jing still remembered some nobody like that?
“Alright...” The Ancient Prince’s mouth twitched. This request was both simple and difficult. Qing Niu Daoist was, at best, a Foundation Establishment demonic cultivator—he was probably long dead. And yet Lin Jing wanted to see him alive, even if he was dead. That was a harsh demand.
“You’ve got a year to find him. That’s doable, right?” Lin Jing said. “No need to promise me. If you can’t pull it off by then, I’ll come for your number one spot on the Golden Ranking.”
After speaking, Lin Jing met the Ancient Prince’s eyes. In the next instant, he pulled him into an illusion space.
From a first-person view, the Ancient Prince was now back at the scene of the Small World contest, standing before Tian Lian.
Everything Tian Lian had said to Lin Jing back then now replayed before the Ancient Prince…
The war between the Heavenly Demon Realm and the Tianming Realm, the Pangu Continent, the Cultivation Alliance, the Origin Realm... all sorts of information made the Ancient Prince take a deep breath—he knew his visit had not been in vain!
“Grandfather… left for the stars in search of the path to ascension and hasn’t returned. Could he have also joined the Cultivation Alliance?”
“No matter what, through this Cultivation Alliance, perhaps I can find traces of Grandfather out in the stars.” That was the thought in the Ancient Prince’s heart.
After getting all the intel, I nodded toward Cultivation and said, “You’ll get to work on what you promised him, right away.”
“Whatever.” Cultivation yawned. He couldn’t wait for the Ancient Prince to catch that stinky old man and drag him back.
...
“You all... didn’t forget something, did you?”
Just before leaving, the Ancient Prince glanced toward his personal shortcut that led deep into the Ling Dao Sect’s mountain. He fell into thought.
Thanks to Lin Jing’s reminder, the pet beasts in the Beast Taming Space suddenly remembered something too.
Right, something was missing.
The mechanical turtle that didn’t make it into the Small World—it was nowhere to be seen when they came back out.
At the time, Lin Jing had been busy checking his spoils and didn’t really care where that guy had gone...
“Looks like it got bored and ran off on its own after we got separated. Whatever, leave it be.” Lin Jing was a bit annoyed. Sure, forgetting the mechanical turtle was a bit much, but that guy didn’t even wait a short while and just ran off? That was just bad attitude.
As expected, strong beings always came with some quirks.
Lin Jing sighed, unaware that the mechanical turtle had already entered the territory of the Ancient Kingdom.
“Where exactly is that Longevity Body the old geezer talked about... where... is it….”
The mechanical turtle traveled while admiring the majestic mountains and rivers of the Ancient Kingdom, all while searching for the Longevity Body mentioned by the First Generation Ancient Emperor.
Even though the Longevity Body hadn’t awakened yet, the mechanical turtle believed that with its skills, it could definitely find it.
But if you asked why it was so determined to find the Longevity Body itself, the mechanical turtle wouldn’t be able to answer. It was simply a fixation built into its character—obsessed with finding anything related to eternal life.
“You’re... back so soon? And just now—was that the Ancient Prince?”
When Lin Jing returned to the Comprehension Pool, the Enlightenment Fish asked with clear reluctance.
“Yeah, no need to worry, Senior. We’re ready to resume our cultivation.” Lin Jing’s figure split in two again, making the Enlightenment Fish roll its eyes.
What the h*ll? Isn’t it enough that you’re training by yourself? Now you bring a clone too???
“Please go back to sleep, Senior!” Lin Jing clasped his hands toward the fish. The fish instantly reacted like it had died a hundred times, pulled its head back into the water, turned into a lifeless stone, and sank to the bottom. As it did, it activated its Divine Art, enhancing the spiritual power of the pool.
Seeing that the pool’s water quality had already changed, Lin Jing nodded and turned to the clone. The Heavenly Demon clone, currently at the Golden Core stage, immediately stepped into the pool and caught the God Body Pill Lin Jing tossed over.
The Demonic God Body Pill, a seventh-grade pill, was theoretically meant for the Seeking the Way Stage. However, after testing, the Dragon Carp had confirmed its uniqueness. Even mortals could take it safely, as long as their existing physique wasn’t incompatible with what the pill would grant.
“My main body already has too many special physiques. Cultivating a new one would definitely cause inner conflict—there’s no room left for new Divine Powers.”
“But the clone only has two physiques. Might as well give it a try.”
Currently, the clone possessed two major physiques: the Innate Spotless Divine Physique and the Acquired Heavenly Demon Physique. The Spotless Physique came from the quasi-immortal item Lotus of Immortal Water used to create the clone. The Heavenly Demon Physique came from the main body’s understanding of Heavenly Demon techniques—essentially, the clone re-cultivated a new Heavenly Demon Body.
Whatever the main body had learned, the clone found much easier to train.
Unfortunately, the clone couldn’t inherit anything innate, such as the Longevity Body, which was an inborn physique.
But anything acquired later—bloodlines, physiques, techniques—the clone could pick up with ease.
Now, since there was no conflict between the Heavenly Demon Physique and the Spotless Physique, this unknown demonic bloodline in the pill was likely to be compatible too.
Lin Jing figured—the clone should have no problem adapting!
