Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna
Chapter 299: A Death of guilt

Chapter 299: A Death of guilt

THIRD PERSON’S POV

As soon as Matilda heard her words, she went berserk.

"Have you lost your mind, Valencia? He is an alpha. How can you even think about it? Have you forgotten he was your mate once? How can you disregard him like this just because you have a more powerful man backing you up?" Matilda said.

She portrayed the words in a manner that made Valencia look like a power-hungry woman, and she thought she would make any changes in the girl’s decision with that.

However, this time, Valencia didn’t want to relent.

She had been too forgiving to the pack alpha, who helped her grow and fed her despite the situations. Though they bullied her, they were also why she was still alive.

She once read that if she genuinely wanted to be happy, she would have to start forgiving people around her, but more than forgiving herself first.

She momentarily forgave her parents’ injustice to her because they trusted her life with them and must have thought it through.

However, could Valencia continue to forgive them when they acted like this?

First the attack, then conspiring with Cordelia, and if that wasn’t enough, Tyler once again tried to—

"You used to be infatuated with him. And now that you can’t have him, you are choosing violence? And everyone here is allowing that to happen? What a bunch of hypocrites!" Matilda disrespected everyone in the hall.

Tyler shook his head. Though Matilda was begging for his life, she was actually making things worse by speaking like this.

He wanted to stop her from speaking but was too shocked to respond.

Valencia, who Dylan had supported, smiled.

It was a condescending, cold smile that barely reached her eyes as she looked at her sister.

"Then do you wish I could forgive him?" She asked.

Matilda saw hope in her words and affirmed, making Valencia nod.

"Then pray, tell me what should I really forgive him for? For sleeping with my sister even after knowing I was his mate? For making my life a living hell? Betraying the mate bond and then asking me to be his sex slave if I wanted to keep the bond?" Valencia asked.

Matilda gritted her teeth.

"That’s in the past, Valencia. We all have moved on from it. Your words only make it seem like you are revenging some past trauma, and this isn’t justice," Matilda said.

Valencia looked at all the people present around her before nodding.

"I wasn’t done speaking. Should I forgive Tyler for threatening my life, or should I forgive him for forcing me to go back? For almost taking advantage of my heat phase or hiring people to kidnap me? Then again, birds of a feather flock together. Should I forgive him for the airport attack that you planned, or should I forgive him for today, where he wanted to rape me and Mark me?" Valencia asked.

Her words shocked Matilda; a glint of hurt flashed through her eyes momentarily when she heard Alpha Tyler wanted to mark Valencia, but she quickly masked it.

"You should look -"

"I don’t want to forgive him. Why should I? Do laws not apply to me? Attempt to murder, attempt to rape, defamation, negligence of his alpha duties, coveting with the rogues to attack a council member, should I name more?" Valencia asked.

Alpha Tyler shook his head.

Now that she mentioned his crimes individually, he felt a little guilty and realized how far he had gone. He wanted to repent.

"Please give me a chance. I will improve. I won’t—" Tyler started, but Valencia sighed.

She shook her head.

"Not this time, Tyler. I gave you a chance 5 times already," She said before she drew the sword of the nearest soldier and placed it on his neck.

Everyone stilled for a second as they saw her standing with a sword on an alpha’s neck.

"Valencia! I swear if you did anything to him, I will skin you alive. You will die by my hands. Last time, I was unsuccessful in killing you because I believed those rogues, but this time, I will do the job myself," Matilda barked, agreeing to her crime herself.

She realized her mistake, but it was too late.

Valencia looked at Alpha Maverick, who nodded at her.

His gaze held a promise. A promise that he would protect her and stand before her to take any punishment that would come her way for killing an alpha before everyone.

Without wasting another second, Valencia raised her sword and was about to swing it down to severe Tyler’s hand that touched her.

She wasn’t going to kill him and jeopardize Maverick’s authority and his law-abiding nature. He had already gotten into trouble because of her once. She didn’t want to repeat the history and have him kneel before the council for her.

However, who would’ve thought that Tyler, who was scared for his life, would pull out his dagger and stab Valencia straight in her abdomen? Maverick, who saw the shining blade in time and knew something was wrong, rushed forward to hold her, letting the dagger not go much more profound. Only the dagger tip hurt Valencia, but it was enough for everyone to know Tyler’s intentions.

If Maverick hadn’t pulled her back, the dagger would have gone into her and probably been fatal, too.

Everyone’s eyes widened.

It was as if everything went too slowly yet quickly simultaneously.

Her sword fell on Tyler’s shoulders, making everyone and Tyler realize she just wanted to slice his arms, leaving them petrified.

At some distance, a man dressed in black who had used his influence and powers on Tyler smirked before removing his magical powers from over Tyler.

Tyler, who was free from the evil manipulation, shook his head.

He looked at his bloodied hands in disbelief.

It was a self-defense mechanism, but how could he —

He looked at the falling girl, and his heart ached terribly. Though he could never show it to her, he had truly loved her. It was indeed obsessive and possessive, but he could do anything to get her.

How the hell did all of this happen? He wondered and looked around at all the angry gazes. Tyler knew this was the end, and no one would believe him if he said he didn’t know what was happening.

It was as if the time had paused after he entered the council chambers to celebrate the council head’s son’s birthday.

He had such problems. He would do something but forget about it. It almost made him believe that someone else was controlling his mind. It was the exact reason why he made that decision. But who would’ve thought things would perish before he could tell Valencia everything?

He wanted to be with her for real. He realized his mistake and was ready to name the power in her name, the exact power he humiliated her for. It was too late to understand the significance of the mate bond, and he knew the path would be challenging, but he was ready to do it.

Tyler wanted to be in Valencia’s good books. What did he do?

He shook his head, feeling frustrated and uneasy with himself.

"I... " Tyler looked at the dagger in his hands.

Everything he had planned for himself and Valencia flashed before his eyes, now stained with Valencia’s blood. He felt disgusted with himself, which was paired with the hatred for himself that he had never felt for anyone before.

What was the point of living like this? Who did he want to save himself from? Maybe Valencia was right. He was the true evil within; perhaps that was why he struck her without even realizing it himself.

Tyler took a deep, shaky breath and looked towards Matilda apologetically. She was another woman he ruined.

Though Matilda was no less evil, he had no right to show dominance over her just because she was in love with him and his power. Not only that, he scarred her for life, impregnating her with his child and rendering her unable to meet her true mate.

He was truly ashamed of himself.

A self-deprecating smile appeared on his face, and he took a deep breath before looking at Kyle.

"Do as I had written in the will," Tyler mouthed to him, and Kyle’s eyes widened.

Though he loathed his alpha for bringing problems to their pack constantly these days, he also knew there was a time when all their alpha wanted was to make this pack one of the best in the world.

With one last look at Valencia’s form, as she was probably healing already, Tyler raised the dagger before stabbing himself in the middle of his chest.

"Tyler!" Matilda screeched as she saw what was happening.

"I... I am sorry, Valencia. I never wanted to hurt you. Though I don’t deserve it, can you forgive me in this lifetime, please? I... I Loved y–" He couldn’t complete his sentence as blood flew out of his mouth, his lifeless body falling back.
