Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 297: Clash of enemies
Chapter 297: Clash of enemies
THIRD PERSON’S POV
"What the hell do you think you are doing?" Dilbar asked when she felt Matilda was trying to threaten her.
Matilda stepped back.
She looked at the princess, who was looking towards the floor of Valencia’s room, and her lips stretched into a smirk.
"Me? I am just telling you I know the stuff you have been planning. Alpha Maverick once killed his mate for planning something like kidnapping his woman. Rape wasn’t even an option, and those who tried it were literally torn from between," Matilda whispered in a hushed voice.
The more she spoke, the more Dilbar felt her heart drumming in her chest.
They had ensured no one would know about their plan. Even the maids and guards didn’t know what they were planning.
How come Matilda knew about it?
It has to be fake.
"Now pray tell me what he will do when he finds out someone ordered to rape his woman. I mean, though he never flexes it, technically, he is the most powerful werewolf alive on Earth," Matilda shrugged.
She turned around to leave, knowing Dilbar would stop her all too well.
"Wait," Dilbar held Matilda’s hand.
"What do you want?" Dilbar raised his voice, making people around them turn to look at them, and she quickly lowered her gaze.
She pulled Matilda to the side to talk to her.
"What do you want?" Dilbar asked again when she ensured no one was around them to listen to what they were talking about.
Matilda finally dropped her act and took a deep breath.
"I want exactly what you have been doing. She is my enemy, and I want her out of my way, out of this world too. However, I don’t think your plans will work much today. Rather, you should be concentrating on how you guys will explain it to Alpha Maverick," Matilda said before she pointed to the stairs.
Dilbar understood she was talking about how Alpha Maverick rushed to the stairs and probably sensed something was wrong.
But how was that possible? They haven’t marked each other yet and couldn’t use a mind link. There was no way she called him because Dilbar had been watching him.
So, what exactly made Maverick rush upstairs? Was their love really that deep? Dilbar scoffed at her own words before humming.
"You tried to threaten me today, and I only allowed it to happen that I was interested in what you had to say. If you thought you could really leave unscathed after doing this, it was your mistake," Dilbar said.
She stepped ahead and smiled.
"You are right. I have to think of something to save myself,"
She looked down at her protruding belly before smiling wickedly.
Matilda furrowed her brows.
"What do you—" She couldn’t complete her sentence when Dilbar pulled out a dagger from her dress and struck straight at Matilda’s abdomen.
The girl’s eyes widened, and her motherly instincts kicked in.
She quickly grabbed the glass she was drinking from and countered the knife, making it fall to the ground.
The glass broke and pierced through Dilbar’s hand.
However, this didn’t make her stop.
The princess attempted to grab the knife again, and shocked by the sudden turn of events; Matilda kicked the princess in the abdomen to stop her from taking the knife and hurting her unborn child.
As soon as her pointed sandal came in contact with Dilbar’s abdomen, she let out a scream before rolling into the broken glass.
The glass shard hurt her cheeks and neck, digging more deeply, and blood started to ooze from her wounds.
Dilbar’s scream immediately caught everyone’s attention, and they rushed to the corner where the two women were.
At the same time, Valencia, who had hit the man straight in the head with the lamp on their nightstand, pushed the groaning man before she stood from her place.
Wobbling on her footing, she went to the door, her world swirling before her eyes.
However, she knew she needed to make a move if she wanted to protect herself.
She had yet to reach the door when the door was kicked open.
Valencia saw a man hurrying inside in a black outfit and thought it was Maverick who had come to save her.
She didn’t waste a second in falling forward into his arms.
Maverick felt something was wrong with his woman because of the growing uneasy feeling in his heart and because Reaper was growing anxious and not letting him sit straight. He reached the room as soon as he felt the alert button they had fixed on the bed vibrating in his pocket.
Even if it was accidental, he wanted to check everything was alright with his woman because he had felt she was a little anxious earlier.
As soon as he reached the corridor, he smelt the thick scent of his woman’s blood and didn’t waste a second rushing to the room.
Seeing his woman bleeding profusely while Prince Ethan’s hands around her waist as he tried to wake her up, blood drained from his face.
His demeanor turned cold, and he looked at the man on the bed who had tried to force himself on his woman.
"No. No. No. This is a misunderstanding. I didn’t do anything. She was in pain, and I just wanted to check what was —," the man said.
However, Reaper only saw red.
He looked at his woman, who had probably cut her entire hand to keep herself the same through whatever she felt.
Why? Why was everyone after his woman? What did she do so wrong that the world was after her?
He remembered her words from last night, and tears brimmed his eyes.
"If you could’ve fulfilled one wish, what would it have been?" Maverick had asked his woman because he wanted to give her the best of everything.
Valencia had smiled at him. It was one of those helpless smiles that had silently indicated to him that whatever she wished for wasn’t something anyone could give her.
However, after he had insisted a couple of times, she had wished for a peaceful life.
"I want to be able to live peacefully with my loved ones,"
That was her only wish. Considering everything she had gone through and was still going through, along with what was expected of her, he understood where this wish came from.
He had promised her he would do his best to give her that kind of peaceful living.
Maverick’s fists clenched by his side.
He closed his eyes briefly.
"... I didn’t let him touch me, Maverick.... I fought. D-don’t misunderstand," Valencia’s soft voice broke, and Reaper trembled inside Maverick.
Prince Ethan, who had accompanied his sister in her planning, heard Valencia’s painful voice, and his heart softened for a second.
His gaze returned to the pendant chain on her neck, and his heart hardened again.
He had no intentions of what was going on here.
Even if he once liked Valencia, she threatened his throne, which was the only way to put Maverick down for a longer time.
Thus, even when he pitied her, he didn’t want to interfere with what was going on. Ruining her character image and dignity was important for the girl’s downfall, which would’ve broken a proud man like Alpha Maverick.
However, as he paced inside his room, he suddenly thought of how he would find out about the pendant on her neck, who gave it to her, or how she acquired it if something happened.
This was something more significant than removing Maverick from his path. Why? If the actual owner of this pendant arrived and told everyone the truth of what happened during the historical rogue attack, then....
He couldn’t even tell his sister or father about it, so he knew he had to take the action himself.
That was the reason he interrupted this scenario.
When he had come here, he had expected to see one of the palace guards or someone they knew who would be involved with Valencia. The man would leave as soon as they saw the prince.
But who would’ve thought that the man they would get to see would be him?
Even if Ethan had wanted to save him, his gaze fell on the red button on the side of the bed when he caught Valencia in his arms, and he knew this man had ruined everything himself.
Just like he had guessed, Alpha Maverick arrived within a few seconds.
"You didn’t mean to do what?" Alpha Maverick asked.
He stepped ahead, looking directly into the man’s eyes, which trembled under his stern gaze, and crawled back on the bed.
"It was their plan. I swear it was their plan. I heard them talking," the man said. Prince Ethan’s gaze darkened when he realized this man would cause trouble for him.
He received a mind link from his sister, and an evil glint passed through his eyes before he feigned innocence.
"What are you saying, Alpha Tyler? Do you even know what you are doing? How can you blame the royalty like this?" Prince Ethan asked.
