Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 292: Archery heart
Chapter 292: Archery heart
THIRD PERSON’S POV
"I would like to opt for the archery game," Valencia said politely to the woman dressed in combat clothes as she wrote the Lunas’ names onto the tab, their names then appearing on the screen.
The lady looked up from her table, sizing Valencia from head to toe before walking some distance and talking to another woman looking through the games.
They both turned to look at her, and Valencia immediately knew this wasn’t going to be easy.
The woman walked back to her.
"Are you sure about it, Miss? Everyone in the province knows that Princess Dilbar is the best Archer among the females, and no one has been able to beat her. You have arrived with Alpha Maverick, and thus, we want to warn you ahead." The lady’s features were stern yet delicate.
Her eyes showed genuineness, and Valencia knew they were speaking facts.
She also heard that the royal princess was the best archer they had and that no woman had been able to beat her.
Though she was sure, most of them didn’t try their best because they didn’t want to offend the royalty. She had no such designs.
Archery was one of her favorite games, and a pair of bows and arrows were her best weapons because they felt natural in her hands.
When she acts like the untamed rogue ’V,’ she ensures that she uses her favorite and selected pair of bows and arrows only, thus earning the name of the shooter rogue.
Valencia smiled politely.
"These are just games to keep us busy. I am sure it’s not a competition. So it shouldn’t be a problem even if I lose, right?" Valencia asked.
The ladies looked at each other before sighing.
Since the girl had already decided for herself before then, there was no point saying anything to her.
They typed her name on the tab, and Valencia saw her name appear on the screen.
Her vibrant smile appeared, and she went to the archery zone immediately.
Apart from her, the female who had chosen the game and was probably warned with the same words was also present.
"Miss Valencia," The Luna, standing there, smiled at her.
Valencia smiled awkwardly because she didn’t know Luna’s name, and the latter smiled.
"Luna Avery," she extended her hand.
Valencia shook her hand gently, her tips touching her cold ones, and she looked at her with raised brows.
"You are freezing," Valencia said, quickly pulling out her matching gloves.
She gave the gloves to Luna Avery, who widened her eyes.
"Miss Valencia, you don’t need to—" Luna Avery started, but before she could complete her words, Valencia smiled at her.
"You are pregnant, aren’t you? The weather here gets quite chilly in the evening, and we are outside the palace. It’s natural to feel cold. Besides, I don’t like wearing gloves while playing," Valencia said, dismissing the fact.
"Thank you," Luna Avery said.
Honestly, she had been feeling a little uncomfortable since she came out but she married her alpha mate only recently and this was her first gathering.
As a shy and timid person, she didn’t know how to mingle with others like the other Lunas, and thus, she chose a game that no one else chose. She also chose the game because she was average at it but better than the others.
She didn’t want to appear irritating to her alpha either because he was here to make important connections. Disturbing his meeting was the last thing she wanted to do.
Thus, she resorted to suffering in silence. It was a matter of one night only.
"Don’t be. We need to take care of each other. If you get a chance in the future, help me out, okay?" Valencia beamed her soft and approachable expression, immediately easing Luna Avery. She stepped ahead and daringly held her hand.
"I will," she said, a resolution in her eyes.
Valencia chuckled softly before she turned around and grabbed her bow and arrow.
"Shall we start?" She asked.
Luna Avery looked at Valencia’s stance, which changed from cute and approachable to powerful as soon as she held the bow.
She nodded and grabbed her own pair of bow and arrow.
"Are you good at it?" Luna Avery asked before shooting and hitting the circle of the 8th ring.
Valencia nodded and clapped for her lightly.
"You are good at it. I... I am not sure," Valencia said to herself.
She was good at killing people with her brows and arrows, but that skill didn’t require her to aim at a particular thing because she had laced her arrows with wolfsbane and silver most of the time. Thus, any hit was lethal to the victim.
Valencia licked her bottom lip.
"You can do it," Luna Avery clapped her hands encouragingly, and Valencia closed her eyes briefly.
"I can," She whispered to herself.
Though this was just for distraction and fun, what that combat lady said wasn’t wrong either.
She was here representing Maverick’s woman and didn’t want to disappoint him.
She shot the arrow and hit the center of the target.
"Wow," She heard Luna Avery gasp, and she smiled.
"It’s just luck," Valencia said.
She started taking the arrows one by one and shooting nonstop, all the arrows hitting the 10th, innermost ring. She now broke the other arrows to make space for themselves.
Her epic display of marksmanship caught the eye of the combat ladies and the man who was displaying the Lunas having fun.
He immediately shifted the camera to Valencia’s target board.
The alphas, meeting each other and discussing business, also shifted their gaze to the screen when they heard the sudden exclamation from Luna Avery, who clapped her hands.
"Did you just call yourself average? You can compete internationally with this skill. Why do you keep it hidden?" Luna Avery was practically jumping in her place.
Valencia, on the other hand, was blushing profusely like a teenager in love.
Everyone’s gaze shifted to Alpha Maverick, and it was hard to decipher whether he was happy or angry.
"Alpha Maverick is surely lucky to have found such a talented woman,"
"She is hitting all the tens. Just how capable she is?"
People started to talk around him.
Maverick’s expression was grim as he watched his woman blushing because another Luna praised her.
Why was she catching everyone’s attention? While he was happy that he had such a talented woman, and she was truly epic and beautiful in every form, he didn’t like that the blush on her face was because of someone else, even if it was a woman.
Only he had the right.
"What is so good about this? I can hit all tens, too," Dilbar said, walking forward, and everyone stopped talking.
They knew she was speaking the truth because they had seen her talent themselves.
She was an international award winner in the game.
"Oh, look, this is what happens when Victory gets to your head. Look, she missed already," Dilbar commented, and everyone noticed how Valencia missed.
She missed the entire circle, and her arrow was barely on the board.
They sighed and looked away.
"It looks like she is trying something, though, " one of the alphas said, and everyone focused again.
They looked at her, shooting the arrows one after the other and noticed that they were taking the shape of a heart.
Once she was done with her artwork, she instinctively turned around to look where all the alphas were, her gaze finding her man, who was already looking at her intensely.
"Is this a public confession of love?"
"I feel truly jealous of you now Alpha Maverick,"
"Valencia is such a cunning girl," Dylan rolled his eyes as he saw his sister doing such a cheesy thing.
Valencia looked at Alpha Maverick like a hopeless, sick fool, and Maverick’s heart skipped a beat when she shrugged as if she was telling him that she couldn’t help but think about him all the time as he does about her.
His heart was beating so fast that it almost felt like he was falling in love for the first time.
"I love you," She mouthed to him and he gulped.
"Excuse me, gentleman," Maverick said, standing from his seat and walking to where she was standing.
The gaze didn’t leave hers for a second, and Luna Avery, who was about to hold her hand and praise her again, felt the dominating aura of the beast alpha, taking a step back meticulously.
She looked between the alpha and the girl before smiling.
Was this what they called a perfect couple who was immensely in love with each other?
Alpha Maverick was the beast and the most dangerous werewolf; even after that, he did not shy away from leaving everything for his woman and showed his care and affection to her openly.
The same was valid with this girl too.
Maverick looked at Valencia’s exposed hands and immediately clasped them between his hands before putting them in his coat’s pockets.
