MAVERICK’S POV

"Sir, did you tell her?" Shadow walked to me.

I looked at him, quirking my brows as I wore the cufflinks that Valencia specially chose for me.

A smile appeared on my face when I realized that she was already starting to act like a wife, and it was more than enough for me, more than energizing, to fight the world for her.

Shadow sighed beside me.

"Sir, you said you will tell her everything as soon as you meet her," Shadow persisted.

I pressed my lips into a thin line.

"I will tell her when it will be the right time. She doesn’t need to worry about something I will take care of. I won’t let some elders decide who will become my Luna. She was, is, and will always be my Luna,"

I looked directly into Shadow’s eyes to ensure he got my point and didn’t speak a word about it to Valencia and ruin the night for her.

"Yes, alpha," Shadow looked down at his feet.

I sighed.

I know the guy was looking out for me only, and I appreciated it. However, I think it was useless to talk about something that wasn’t going to happen.

"What about the rogues? Finding Alfonso. Did you tell her that?" Shadow asked.

I took a deep breath before looking at Shadow.

Why was he adamant about me talking to Valencia about such off topics? What made him think I went there to talk to her about that?

"I went to meet my woman because I missed her, Shadow. Not because I am a spy working for her who needs to relay those messages to her. We spent quality time with each other," I said, and judging from how Shadow’s ears turned slightly red, I knew he understood the meaning behind my words.

"I wanted to hug her to calm the beast inside me, to get enough patience to face the royalty and other nincompoops who would be joining tonight," I deliberately twisted my words.

"Ohh," Shadow nodded.

"What were you thinking?" I asked, narrowing my eyes at him.

The guy coughed in embarrassment before looking away.

"Well, your scent is mixed with hers already, sir... She is an Alpha’s daughter, too. She will have the same kind of influence on you as you have on her scent," Shadow explained.

I bit the inside of my cheeks at the realization.

We took care of her moans, our voices, sneaking, and everything else, but we completely forgot about our mingled scents, which would clearly tell everyone we spent some time together.

"Here, spray this perfume. Her scent won’t give anything off because people can barely smell her. It will be you putting her into trouble. Who asked you to act like a Romeo anyway?" Shadow asked.

I curled my brows at my subordinate.

Was he seriously taking her side and not mine?

"Whose side are you on?" I asked, and he shrugged.

"I am on the winning side," He grinned.

Shaking my head, I looked at Reaper, who was smiling at nothing in particular.

’Now, what has gotten you smiling?’ I asked.

’I wonder how she will act when she sees that you have brought Amelia with you,’ Reaper said.

I rolled my eyes at him.

He was surely enjoying my miseries.

I brought Amelia here because we were planning on going to the nearest pack and helping them through the rogue problem once the ceremony was over.

Not only that, she was going to act as my secretary and talk to all the alphas and betas who always complain they want to interact with me in these ceremonies but can’t because I am busy with the elders or council members.

Besides, now I have one more responsibility to take care of.

’You mean staring at our girl all night and trying your best not to devour her?’ Reaper said, and the images of her moaning face immediately flashed in my head.

’Stop it,’ I glared at Reaper before looking at myself in the mirror and exiting the room.

I planned to go to the ceremony and party with Valencia by my side, but she needed to arrive alone since it was also her acceptance ceremony.

"Alpha," Amelia nodded at me, and I barely looked at her before continuing to walk to the hall.

"Alpha Maverick," Alpha Torrent walked towards me, extending his hand.

I looked at Luna, who extended her hand to me before shifting my gaze to Apha Torrent.

Almost everyone in the community knows I dislike touching other women until it’s of utmost necessity.

"Miley," Alpha Torrent shook his head at Luna, who immediately looked down embarrassed.

’It won’t hurt to be a little polite, would it?’ Valencia’s words echoed in my head, and I sighed before extending my hand to Luna.

"It’s a pleasure to meet you," I said, barely touching her fingers, and Luna bowed to me in respect, making me smile briefly before I turned towards the hall.

’Miss Valencia is surely having her charming effect on you,’ Shadow didn’t miss voicing out his thoughts, and I glared at him.

Wasn’t he becoming a bit too daring these days?

"Everyone, Alpha Maverick, Alpha Torrent," The guard announced as we entered the venue together.

I looked around, and just like I had guessed, my woman had yet to show up, making me sigh.

I paused when my gaze met with Alpha Tyler.

A smirk appeared on my face as I saw the wariness and a hint of fear in his eyes, making me shift my gaze towards the woman beside her, the woman who has been threatening my woman these days.

Tilting my head, I looked at the duo until they awkwardly changed their position from near the stage.

My woman will be there soon for her acceptance ceremony. The last thing I wanted was for her mood to be ruined after she looked at them.

"Happy birthday, Dylan," I said to the party’s protagonist before looking at Amelia, who stepped ahead and placed the large gift on the table beside Dylan.

"This wasn’t necessary," Dylan said, his eyes squinted before turning into a glare.

"Of course, it was. After all, I am taking something much bigger in return," I grinned, and the man gritted his teeth.

"She is going to be a council member soon. You won’t have any right to her until you mark her. I won’t let you play with her feelings," Dylan said, his gaze shifting to Amelia, who stepped back immediately.

I know what he was thinking.

Any sane person would think like that, but I wasn’t afraid or wary of such thoughts because I was clear in my conscience.

As long as I had the trust of my woman, everything was okay for me.

I stepped ahead, almost standing nose to nose with Dylan before bending forward as if to hug him.

"That’s completely fine. She will be my Luna soon," I whispered into his ears before smiling at him.

*Ahem* *ahem*

I heard someone’s fake coughing and stood back. My gaze met with the council head, Jonathan, and Carl, who walked to us.

"What are you guys talking about?" Jonathan faked a smile even when we knew he heard us clearly.

I was about to make myself clear that though they didn’t say anything to Valencia, it didn’t mean I was stupid not to understand what was happening here.

The moment I expressed my desire to make her mine and keep her with me, they suddenly decided to make her a council member.

Not only that, they even allowed her to go on the rogue missions that she wanted to, just so they could lure her in.

They thought they would succeed in taking her away from me, but that wasn’t going to happen.

I will be with her. She will stay with me as my woman, no matter what happens.

If this is going to put her life in danger, I will increase the security, but I need her to be sane.

I was living fine before I met her, but after meeting her, I realized I could be happy and calm, too. I was allowed to be in love and smile freely, and I wouldn’t let anyone take her from me in the name of safety.

If I have to keep her safe by shedding my blood, I will. As long as she was with me, I was ready to do anything and everything for her.

"You know what?" I started to speak but stopped when the guards announced the next person’s presence.

"Everyone, King David Matthews and Prince Ethan Matthews," The guards announced.

I paused.

Closing my eyes and taking a deep breath, I took a deep breath before turning around to look at one person who was most wary of my presence in the world because he thought I would be after his throne after being named the beast Alpha.

I looked at the man daringly straight in the eyes.

There was nothing for me to fear.

"Well, isn’t this a pleasure," Prince Ethan said, and I was about to retort when the guards announced another presence.

"Everyone, Miss Valencia Brooklyn," The guards said.

I ignored Prince Ethan’s hand and stepped aside to look at my woman, my eyes widening in pure amazement.
