Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 214: The first strike
Chapter 214: The first strike
THIRD PERSON’S POV
Valencia didn’t move from her place. She kept looking at her blood before she looked at Aurora with an angst expression.
Aurora looked away, feeling guilty for making her bleed even when she knew how much Valencia ended up craving blood whenever she shed hers or someone else’s.
’I am sorry. It wasn’t my intention,’ Aurora said, and Valencia gritted her teeth.
’It’s too late to apologize,’ She whispered before she looked up.
"It’s clear the forest spirits won’t let you hurt me, and I don’t intend to overstay my visit," Valencia said, standing from her place and pulling out her phone.
She called Tory and told him to go to the entrance of the forbidden forests as she was bringing Theo back. She also asked Tory to book a ticket back to the state.
To say Tory was shocked with her words would be an understatement. She quickly completed her work for a place as dangerous and mysterious as Caribbean’s Den pack.
"Miss Valencia, we would love to tend to you until you and your friend heal," The former alpha said, but Valencia shook her head.
She didn’t want to stay in this place even for a second.
As much as Aurora wanted to stay and enjoy the benefits of being favored by the forest spirits as they tried to show their hospitality to her, she also knew this would be tougher for Valencia with each passing hour.
It would already be a six-hour flight, not to mention the other traveling distance.
"I would like to visit some other day. I think we are going to have a long bonding relationship," Valencia looked at the alpha of the pack, who rolled his eyes, understanding the provocation behind her words.
"Is there a way for me to leave as quickly as possible? I need to be somewhere urgently," She asked the alpha, and he nodded at her.
They dropped her near the exit of the forbidden forests with their car.
Tory was already waiting for her in his Jeep, and he looked at his friend with a relieved sigh.
"Theo, you prick!" Tory punched the man square in the face, making the latter scowl, but he knew he deserved it.
"Drop me to the airport and take him to the hospital,"
"Are you leaving already?" Tory asked Valencia, surprised that she wasn’t staying to celebrate her victory with a feast that she always does.
Valencia didn’t say much. She just looked at Tory and Theo before humming.
"Thank you," Theo said as soon as she sat inside the jeep.
"I hope you guys will be careful next time. We could’ve died, "Valencia said, making Theo nod his head in guilt.
Valencia took a deep breath. She had never considered their feelings and how much they must have wanted a break from all the things she kept telling them to do.
"You guys are dismissed from the team of my rogues. You don’t need to handle them anymore," She said, her eyes closed.
Tory, who was driving, was shocked by her sudden announcement. He lost the balance of the car, sliding it to the side as he looked at her with wide eyes.
"What did you say?" He asked.
"I said..." Valencia paused. Looking at their hurt expressions, she realized that the two of them probably misunderstood.
"I am not disowning you if that’s what you think. Someone will take over the responsibilities while you take a little break. I think you guys need it," She smiled.
"Did we ask for it?"
"How can you say such harsh words?"
"Are our feelings nothing to you?"
"Are we not doing a good job at it?"
"I know I made a mistake. But can you not punish me with this?"
They said one after the other.
Valencia looked at them helplessly.
"You guys don’t understand. It’s not about this. I just want you guys to have a life away from this mess. My life will be turning messy sooner or later. There are many things about me that you don’t have any idea about," She said, nipping at her nails.
Theo held her hand. He knew there were many things about her they had no idea about, and what had happened earlier was a clear example of this.
"We will listen and trust you. No matter what or who you are, you will always have our support," Theo said, squeezing her hand comfortingly.
Tory looked at her and nodded his head in agreement.
Valencia looked at the two guys and smiled.
"I just wanted to relieve you guys from some work, but if you don’t want it, I won’t force you either. There are many things that I want to tell you guys, but I will reveal them slowly. Will you guys give me enough time for it?" she asked, and seeing both of them bob their heads up and down, she smiled before taking a deep breath.
Valencia looked out the window when Tory started to drive again. She contemplated telling the two alphas the truth about her life, what was happening, and what she was doing.
"I am seeing the alpha of the Dark Callisto pack. In fact, he has already announced me as his woman," Valencia said.
Tory, who was surprised by the sudden revelation of things, lost the balance once again, barely keeping it in control before glaring at the girl as he stopped the car at the side of the forest.
"Can you drop all the bombs at once?" he asked.
Valencia smiled sheepishly. She observed their expressions, wanting to see if there was any hint of animosity in their eyes, but apart from concern, she didn’t see anything.
A breath of relief left her mouth.
"Are you sure about him?" Theo was the one to ask.
He precisely remembered how Valencia had said she hated all the alphas after what Tyler did to her.
"He makes me feel at home," Valencia whispered, and Theo and Tory smiled at her.
If that was the truth, they were really happy for her. They didn’t even know the last time she was genuinely happy about something. She was getting attacked by one thing or the other time after time, and even now, her life has no peace.
"Does he know about you being a rogue and handling a rogue army? Last time I heard about the beast alpha, he single-handedly killed 76 rogues in his rampage stage," Tory said.
Valencia hummed. She didn’t say much on the topic. Maverick already knew she was a rogue, and since he accepted her as such, she was hoping he would accept her army, too.
She was already done telling Dylan about it. Now that the burden was off her chest, she was thinking of telling Maverick about it, too.
If these feelings were real and she was indeed falling for him and not just moved by his gentleness and care, she needed to be truthful to him and herself. She deserved it, and he deserved it.
A smile appeared on her face.
After discussing the future plans to find the people of the Phoenix blood pack, Valencia boarded the flight.
Tory and Theo, who were left behind, got inside the car and went on the mission immediately, unbeknownst to the man who had been following them.
"Yes, she has gotten on the flight. She should be there at the same time as we had predicted. We just need to ensure the alpha, council, or their dogs aren’t waiting for her, and if they are not, we can do our work easily," the man said over the call.
The man on the other side of the phone scoffed.
"I don’t really think she would’ve informed anyone about her arrival. From what I have observed so far, she loves to surprise. Well, we will surprise Maverick on her stand," the man said before he ended the call.
He nodded at his people.
"The mission is on. Let’s get to the airport and keep a lookout for the girl. If the main members don’t arrive themselves, we can handle some dogs ourselves. This will be our first strike to warn Maverick he messed with the wrong group of people," The man said.
After 6 hours of the flight, Valencia, who was already craving Maverick’s presence because she craved his blood, sighed and pulled out her phone to message him.
She contemplated calling him.
This way, she would be a little calmer.
She dialed Maverick’s number with a smile, waiting for him to pick up.
Maverick, who was going to take a bath after a little battle near the east borders and killing a few rogues, looked at the ringing phone on the table and walked to it.
As soon as he saw the called id, a smile spread on his lips.
It had been 8 hours since they last talked.
Was she done with her work? Was she returning? He answered the call.
"Hello, my love," He sighed, his heart skipping a beat at the thought of talking to her.
Valencia, who hailed a taxi and sat inside it, smiled.
"Well, hello to you too, big boy," she chuckled.
Maverick laughed lightly at her way of addressing him and was about to speak when Shadow opened the door of his room, making him scowl.
He snarled, ready to ask if Shadow had forgotten he was the alpha and that he shouldn’t enter his room without knocking, when the subordinate said something that took him by surprise.
"We got a threatening message," Shadow said, showing him the note and a photo of her standing near a building.
"Isn’t your lover pretty?" The note said Maverick’s eyes widened.
He looked at the call and gulped.
"Valencia, where are –?" Maverick couldn’t even complete his sentence when he heard a blast going off on the other side.
