Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna
Chapter 188: The same Luna-Alpha?

Chapter 188: The same Luna-Alpha?

VALENCIA’S POV

"Are you ready?" Maverick asked me as we stopped outside the pack.

My hand immediately reached for my still intact locket, which worked well to hide my scent.

"Will you stay on my side?" I asked.

There will be arguments. A face-off with Tyler was inevitable because I was sure he wouldn’t quickly let go of what happened yesterday.

He will create problems for me, probably by staking a claim on me before everyone, and in that moment, I need to be strong. I would be able to handle him well, but it would be supportive if the party host sided with me.

"Always," Maverick said, and I took a deep, shaky breath.

"Let’s go then," I smiled at him.

He immediately nodded at Greta, who nodded back and started the car to enter the pack.

Normally, the party host should’ve been in the venue already, but he wanted to make an entrance with me, and since he was the strongest, was he really afraid of anyone’s judgment?

I felt the vibes around me change immediately.

Even Maverick’s calm vibes turned severe and cold. Though he was still comforting to me, he definitely felt like someone not to be truffled with.

As soon as the car stopped before the grand venue, I gazed at the fantastic set-up before placing my hand in Maverick’s as he led me out of the vehicle.

For the event, I was wearing a red satin dress that hugged my curves and enhanced them. The skirt was loose and flowy after the knees. It was elegant and beautiful.

Besides the large silver rose near my left shoulder, it had no frills or designs. I adorned the dress with silver hanging earrings and a matching bracelet, along with my nude silver-colored clutch and nude heels.

With bare makeup and a messy bun, the look was perfect for the occasion.

"Let’s go, my love," Maverick snapped me out of my thoughts, and I nodded at him before walking towards the entrance.

"Alpha Maverick... Lady Valencia," Shadow said.

I didn’t miss how he changed my designation from Miss to Lady, making me quirk my brows.

"Well, hello to you too, Shadow," I said, averting my gaze at Maverick, who smiled at me before raising my hand and kissing it before his group of people.

I raised my brows.

What was going on inside his head for real? Before I could voice out my question, he started walking inside, and I was faced with a swarming wave of high testosterone and masculine energy along with intense feminine energy.

And why not? The place was full of alphas, their Lunas, and their betas and respective mates if they had any.

Everyone started to bow to Alpha Maverick as we began to walk further inside, their gaze stopping at me, probably trying to figure out who I was if I was an alpha’s daughter or something like that.

I pressed my lips into a thin line.

I was an alpha’s daughter, too. But how unfortunate was it that I didn’t even know the real names of my parents yet, let alone their likelihood of how they were?

"Everyone, I, Alpha Maverick Aurelius, welcome you all to the commencement of this Alpha’s Meet held by the Dark Callisto pack. This lady here is my partner for the meet, my first-ever partner," Maverick said, and heat crept up my neck at his choice of words.

Must I exaggerate things like that?

However, despite all the nervousness, I knew not to lose my cool. I faced everyone calmly before nodding at them.

"I am Valencia Brooklyn; I am sure many of you know my name as a partial council member," I said, and many alphas nodded in understanding.

My gaze met Uncle Jonathan’s, who looked directly at me. His gaze held a mixture of emotions, confusing me a little.

What did he want me to do?

Not minding his gaze, I nodded at Alpha Maverick.

"Shall we start the ceremony with the first dance?" Maverick asked me, and I smiled at him.

I nodded at him, and he led me to the middle of the hall, where I placed my hand on his shoulders.

"I hate it," Maverick whispered into my ears.

I furrowed my brows.

What does he hate? We haven’t even conversed with anyone yet.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I hate the idea that everyone is getting to watch you in this beautiful dress, and rather than taking it off of you, I have to dance here like a clown," Maverick said, and I suppressed the urge to slap his chest.

He was indeed being funny.

"You are funny," I said, my voice louder than I had intended. He smiled before dipping and was about to place his forehead on mine when we were interrupted.

"And you know what else is funny? The fact that Alpha Maverick is dancing with my mate here," I heard the familiar voice, and Maverick immediately held my hand before pushing me behind himself protectively.

I looked at the alpha, whose aura turned dark.

It really felt good to know someone had your back, but was I someone who needed to rely on someone? How could I have him jeopardize his party when he arranged it?

I could see people, especially various Lunas, starting to gossip already.

"Last time I checked, the night I found out you were my mate, you were fucking my sister. What’s the problem, Alpha Tyler? I thought I rejected you, but you accepted it too. Are you perhaps telling me I can’t find happiness elsewhere because your alpha ego doesn’t allow it while, like the egoistic person you are, you can fuck whoever you want?" I asked.

I am sure he didn’t expect me to talk about my trauma so casually, but here I was.

I was done thinking about it and keeping it inside me. If he wants to make my life hell, I would ensure he gets the taste of his own medicine.

The pause from his side was enough for me to continue and insult him more.

"I don’t see Matilda here. Don’t tell me you left her at home so you could find another partner since one can appease your hunger. She is pregnant with your pup even when you haven’t assured her. She is waiting for you at your pack, dealing with the stuff you should’ve because of the last time attack, and you are here trying to vouch for your ex-mate. How pathetic," I smiled.

As soon as I ended my words, I could see the people’s perception of him change completely.

I smiled victoriously at alpha Tyler, who was looking at me.

However, my smile started to falter soon when I realized something was wrong with his expression. Something was going on inside his head.

I could feel it from the way he was looking at me.

After having a crush on him for so long and observing his every expression so I could appease him and always be his safe place where he would feel comfortable, I knew this expression all too well.

As if Maverick felt my anxiousness from my body, he tightened his hold on my hand, and I looked at him, feeling reassured.

Right. He won’t be able to do something since Maverick is here.

He won’t hurt me physically, and he would definitely not dare to hurt me emotionally with his presence, knowing well he could snap his head in a second.

I looked at Dylan and Carl, who looked back at me with a reassuring smile, and I nodded at them.

Tyler didn’t say anything and just nodded, smirking at me before he turned around and shrugged like my words were nothing. He then mingled with the alphas, who started talking to him like nothing was wrong.

Of course, many alphas promote this kind of behavior themselves. So his character mustn’t have become ugly to them.

"Don’t think about it," Maverick told me, and I nodded before starting to enjoy the meeting. I looked at the information shared with deep interest.

This kind of inside information wasn’t available in the outer market either.

Seeing Alpha Maverick getting busy with the other alphas, I was about to go to Uncle Jonathan to ask him how he liked here when someone’s words directed at me caught my attention.

"It’s amazing how much you resemble her," the old alpha, who was probably in his late 50s, said.

"Pardon?" I asked him, trying to figure out what he was trying to say.

The alpha shook his head at me.

"There was a Luna-Alpha who used to attend these meetings many years ago, and she had the same aura as you. The same fearless outward character that forces everyone to listen to her. Maybe my old eyes are tricking me, but... You resemble her quite a lot," The old man said.

I felt my heart skipping a beat.

He said Luna-Alpha.

Was he talking about my mother?
