Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna
Chapter 18: Hot friend

Chapter 18: Hot friend

VALENCIA’S POV

"So, are you ready for the adventures that await you?" Henry asked me as soon as I entered the class and sat in my usual seat.

I looked at him with my furrowed brows, unsure what he was talking about.

Then again, half of his sentences didn’t make any sense to me so I didn’t think much about it.

I pulled out my earphones and placed the earpiece into my left ear to enjoy some paranormal podcast until the lecture started before closing my eyes and enjoying the slight wind.

"What are you listening to?" I heard a voice after some time, and I looked up with a smile

"Hey,"

"Just hey? Where is my hug?" Aiden asked me.

’This human friend of yours is the only one I approve of for you,’ Aurora said dreamily, and I rolled my eyes at her.

’Just say that you like his blue eyes and have hots for him because he is muscular and -’

"Done ogling at my hot body?" Aiden smirked, and I chuckled at his flirtatious remark.

"Not yet. How about removing this shirt?" I flirted back, making him shake his head, knowing all too well how conservative kind of person I really was.

I was about to stand and smack the back of his head for shaking his head at me again when the Chancellor walked inside the class along with the head of the department and Dean.

I saw them raking their gaze all over the students until they stopped at me.

What is this? What did I do now? My brain went over all the things I did at the University for the authorities to blame and punish me.

And let me tell you, the list was really long, the most recent one being the dean thinking I brought a cat into the University again.

"That’s her?" The chancellor asked, and the dean nodded before he looked at me.

"Valencia, can we have a moment with you?" The dean asked, but the chancellor and HOD were already moving towards me.

Why are they acting so mysteriously?

"Student Valencia,"

"Yes, sir," I looked at the three men, confused.

"Since you are the chosen one, we hope you will do your best to serve the members and make the university proud," The Chancellor said, and I looked at him, a little dumbfounded.

What did he say? The chosen one? Why did it sound like I was chosen for some kind of sacrifice?

I looked at my friends to see if they knew what was happening. The smile on Henry’s face was a little unnerving.

"I am sorry. I don’t know what you are talking about," I whispered.

The Dean cleared his throat before stepping ahead.

"Maybe she didn’t see the announcement. Valencia, you are chosen as the class representative and would be responsible for reporting every experiment and research progress to the founders until they leave," the dean said, and I stood there, rooted in my place.

’Girl, you are screwed,’ Aurora commented, and I smiled awkwardly.

I know I am screwed. Does she really need to rub it on my face?

"Who recommended it?" I asked directly, ready to make that person’s life hell for putting me in this kind of predicament.

I looked at our dean, who averted his gaze immediately from me.

Oh, I got my culprit too. You just wait and watch, Mr. Dean. You messed with the wrong cat. Now don’t blame me for what I will do to you. I gritted my teeth.

They said a few more words about research that, I must mention, didn’t even enter my brain properly to be able to process it before they left, and as soon as they did that, I heard a laugh beside me, making me grit my teeth.

"I am sure my miseries look funny to you, Henry," I glared at the boy, who chuckled even harder.

"Will anyone tell me what’s going on here?" Aiden asked, securing his hand on my chair around my shoulders as soon as I sat before he briefly looked at me and then at Henry.

"Dude, you have no idea how much fun you missed by being absent yesterday," Henry said, and Aiden looked at me once again.

"Is that so? What happened?" He asked, his hand reaching for my shoulder before he started to massage it slowly to relax me, and I must mention his massage works wonders.

’Well, that’s a gangster’s boy for you,’ Aurora swooned, and I rolled my eyes at her liking towards all the red flags around us.

I swear she can’t bring herself to swoon over any good man. She always falls for ’I will burn down the world for you’ guys.

I mean, try better and burn the world yourself. Why do you need a man for that? Men can help you with other things...if you know you know...

Henry didn’t save me any face. He told Aiden about everything, including how I fell on the founder’s right-hand man because I was sleeping and the dean didn’t have the best expression and everything surrounding me.

Aiden just smiled briefly before looking at me, an amused look dancing in his eyes.

"You were having quite a good time, I guess?" He mused and tucked my hair behind my ears.

"What fun? I almost got my ass spanked yesterday," I commented casually before looking at my phone, waiting for any high-value bidder to message me for the painting.

"I would like to see who dares to touch that ass," Aiden commented, and I raised my gaze to meet him, his eyes that turned a little dark, a mysterious look in them.

"It’s my duty to protect you as your friend," he added, and I nodded before placing my earphones in the bag.

"Come here," Aiden said before he grabbed the base of my chair and pulled me towards him.

"Woah-" I started, but couldn’t complete my sentence as the next second, my eyes met with hazel dark ones, looking directly at me as if piercing my soul.

"Your first miserable day has started, Valencia," I heard again and couldn’t help but glare at Henry.

"Miss Valencia, can I have a moment with you before we start the lecture," Shadow said, and I sighed dejectedly before standing from my place, looking down when Aiden held my hand and squeezed it softly.

"I am here," he whispered without looking at me.

I couldn’t help but smile at his gesture before nodding.

"I know you are," I whispered before leaving my seat and walking to the podium.

However, Shadow walked out of the classroom and I followed him.

"Yes, Mr. -"

"What was that all about?" He asked me before I could say anything.

"What was what?" I asked, genuinely confused.

A smirk appeared on his handsome face, and he tilted his head slightly, a predatory action that I didn’t like because it made me feel a little like I was his prey.

"Aren’t you having a bit too much fun breaking laws when living with the humans, Miss Valencia?" He asked.

I knew where he was going now.

"Though the council backed you, there is no substantial evidence yet that you weren’t here hiding and were really here for research purposes. The Dark Callisto pack will see your case now. And by that time, you won’t be allowed to move out of this area. Any movement against this judgment would be seen as an action against the alpha and you will be hunted down," Shadow said.

I nodded.

"Is there anything else?" I asked, feeling much calmer than yesterday.

Or maybe because I saw how he wasn’t really that bad of a person and it was just protocols that he was following because of being the darkest pack’s member.

"Aren’t you afraid?" He asked.

I couldn’t help but smile at this one.

"I am a lantern, Shadow. Do you understand the meaning of this word? I haven’t found my wolf. Now imagine the life of a person who hasn’t met her wolf in a pack where they value only strength and rank. Does your alpha want to show me hell? You probably have no idea what hell feels like when you are rock bottom," I smiled at him, stepping a bit closer to exert my confidence.

"Does it scare me? Of course, it does. It scares me because once again some bunch of people with authority have come to decide if I get to live properly or not. Am I having fun among humans? Probably I am. Am I not allowed? I can’t have fun with the werewolves because they won’t accept me and I can’t have fun with the humans who are more like me because I am a werewolf. What do you expect me to do? Die?" I asked.

I kept looking into his hazel eyes for some time and when I saw he didn’t have any response to my question, I sighed.

"If there is nothing you want to talk about, I’ll take my leave," I walked back to the classroom, my heart immediately starting to beat at the pace of the bullet train.

’Woah, that was done cool sh*t, girl. Even if those words would land us in trouble, I am so proud of you,’ Aurora said.

I nodded, breathing heavily.

Only I know what kind of determination it took from me to say those words without trembling under his dominating eyes.

Heck, that was hard.

I shook my head and went back to my seat, making Aiden immediately look at me.

"You okay?" He asked and I nodded.
