Chapter 125: Eidolon

Chapter 125: Eidolon

VALENCIA’S POV

"Why are you not saying anything? Where the heck is Alina?" I raised my voice at Carl before looking around.

"She is alright, Valencia, but -" Carl paused as he looked at me with a concerned face, making it hard for me to believe what he was saying.

"Alina!" I shouted, and as soon as I called for her, the girl appeared in my room, her nose flaring as she looked at me.

I looked at her exposed hands and body from a distance to see if she got hurt because of me. However, there wasn’t even a scratch on her body.

That meant...

I looked at my hands and saw the long scratches I made with my own dagger. My pupils dilated.

The pain finally registered in my mind and I looked at Alina.

Now I know why she left the room and her nose was flaring like that. My blood was making her uncomfortable and she probably didn’t want to hurt me.

I looked at the gnashes on my hands before I leaned back, covering my face with my right hand that I was still holding the dagger in.

"What is going on, Valencia? This isn’t the first time you have snapped like this into your nightmare. However, this is definitely the first time you end up hurting yourself," Carl said.

I didn’t look at him as he removed the dagger from my grip.

How was I supposed to answer his question when even I didn’t fucking knew what was going on?

Was it stress that was getting to me? But even if it was stress, I could’ve understood it if it was some random devil haunting me, but what the hell was the meaning of this?

These blood puddles, all the blood around me, the lakes of blood, my drawing blood, that person wanting my blood, why was everything stopping at one thing? Blood?

I took a deep breath.

"I don’t know, Carl. Maybe it’s because of Tyler’s engagement that is stressing me out that I went this hard in the nightmare. Don’t worry about it," I said.

Though Carl didn’t look like he was satisfied with my explanation, he didn’t say anything and just nodded.

"It’s already morning. I have prepared breakfast for the four of us. Clean yourself and get dressed quickly. We will be waiting," Carl said, and I narrowed my brows.

"Four?" I asked.

"You left a man sleeping in the guest room, remember?" He asked me with amusement dancing in his eyes, his words making it sound like I called in a male prostitute or something and I couldn’t help but chuckle at his choice of words.

Once Carl left after looking at Alina, probably to call her out, I looked at the girl, who looked at me apologetically.

"Why are you feeling sad?" I softened my expression.

"I am so helpless when it comes to you. You always help me but when you need any help, I have to run away from you because I will end up hurting you more," Alina said and I sighed.

"Well, it’s not your fault. We have our differences, but it doesn’t mean you can’t stay with me. Come here. I know you will never hurt me," I said and she looked at me hesitantly.

I wanted her to give her enough time to believe in herself too, and thus, I didn’t pressure her and just kept looking at her.

After a few seconds, she nodded and took a step forward, looking warily at me.

I watched her like a mother proud of her child’s first walk towards her and the thought alone made me smile inwardly.

"It wasn’t too hard, was it?" I asked as she still stood 2 steps away from me and she nodded her head.

I was about to ask her if she had any plans of training her powers to get more skilled and have better control over her emotions, but before I could ask her anything, she interrupted me.

"You dream of Eidolon," She whispered, and I looked at her with surprise.

What did she say I dream of?

"Eidolon?" I asked and she nodded her head.

"You dream of some human-like figure. You know it’s dead, it doesn’t have a pure form and appears out of just anything. Given how you are obsessed with blood, I am sure that Eidolon appears out of blood," Alina said, and I looked at the girl, too stupefied to say anything.

So there was a name for this ghost too?

What she was saying was too much to take in, but it was surprising that she knew about it.

Did she say anything in my sleep? Or how would she know was dreaming of something like that? What to do with that kind of accuracy?

"How do you know all this? I asked her rather than going around and overthinking things. My head was filled with too many things to have more on my plate than I could handle," I asked.

Alina looked down at her hands. Her expression was unsure. She was probably contemplating whether to tell me the truth or not, and I smiled at the stupid girl.

"It’s okay. Tell me about it when you are comfortable. Let me get changed and we can have dinner together," I stood from my place, groaning when my hand ached.

It was a good thing I didn’t sleep with the wolfsbane-laced dagger, or even if it wouldn’t have hurt me too much because of my growing immunity to the drug, it would’ve definitely made it hard for my body to heal the wound.

I turned around and walked to my closet to pull out the outfit for the day and was about to enter the bathroom when Alina’s words stopped me.

"It’s because I am special," she said, and I raised my eyebrows.

I couldn’t help but feel amused. Of course, I knew she was special. Or was it really possible for a demoness like her to stay out of her kingdom for so long and still survive? The demon teenagers are one of the most vulnerable people in their species.

It was also one reason why I didn’t deny her presence near me when she begged me to keep her close.

However, when I met with an efficient witch who promised me she would take her back to her Kingdom, I knew I had to force her back.

No matter how much I liked the girl or what kind of bond we developed, her place wasn’t here with me where her life was at constant risk.

She belonged to the kingdom, and for some reason, when I saw that witch being so wary of this demoness, I also had an inkling that this girl here wasn’t just a normal rank demoness.

"Okay, I got it," I smiled at her and she scowled.

"You are not taking me seriously," She said and I hummed, barely hiding my smile.

She wanted me to take her seriously when she was using these words.

"It’s true. I can look into your mind and know what you are thinking about or what you are dreaming of. Aren’t you confused by that man, Maverick? Don’t you want to undress him and -"

I widened my eyes and rushed to her, placing my hand on her mouth, afraid that the man sitting outside would hear her.

"Hey! What the hell?! That’s not me. It’s my wolf trying to plant those images inside my head," I looked at her, completely shocked while Auroras laughed inside my head, making it even worse.

"Well, now you believe me," She scowled and I sighed.

Seriously, what was I going to do with this stupid girl?

"I believe you now. Go out," I said and she pouted.

"Can you not be afraid of me?" She asked.

I scoffed at her.

"I am not afraid of you," I told her as I looked at my reflection in the mirror which almost looked like I was run over by a truck or something.

"I know, that’s why I like you so much. If that man treats you badly, I will take care of you," She said and I chuckled at her.

"Yeah, yeah. I got it," I shook my head before going inside the bathroom to clean myself.
