Chapter 394: Plans For The Future

"Sugar high, honey bun," I sang, not caring about the fact that I was clearly off-key. Pulling out a lollypop from my space, I took off the wrapper as I continued my song. "You know that I love you so. I can’t help myself; I love you and nobody else."

A voice cleared behind me, but I ignored it. The song was now living rent-free in my head, and if I had to suffer, the rest of them had to suffer with me. Sticking the candy into my mouth, I continued to hum the song as we strolled through the jungle.

Behind us, smoke curled up to the sky as the village continued to smolder. I wasn’t worried about the jungle catching fire. After all, with all the humidity that the guys were complaining about, it would take a lot for the plants to burn. What I was worried about was the village not burning enough.

Selene and Rhys had managed to escape, somehow. I actually had to give them credit for their abilities. Like a cockroach that just refused to die, I could only assume that Selene and Rhys would live long lives. Hopefully, the jungle would throw a thorn or something their way every so often.

After all the shit that they had done, they didn’t exactly deserve their own happily ever after.

With every step we took forward, the ground behind us shook. I could see the raptors hiding in the plants and shrubs on either side of the path as they followed us home. Even Rexy was smart enough to follow along. I mean, he didn’t have much choice in the matter, but that was neither here nor there.

What belonged to me would always be mine, and it was time the rest of the world learned that lesson.

"Pudding Pop," grunted Beau, right before he wrapped his arm around my waist. "This is cruel and unusual punishment," he continued, his eyes never leaving the lollypop between my lips. "Being jealous of a candy is a whole new low that I never saw coming."

"Don’t worry," I whispered to him. Rising up on my tip toes, I kissed Beau on the cheek. "I’m sure that I will love your candy on a stick just as much."

Dancing out of his way, I spun in a small circle before walking backward toward the house. The men followed silently behind me. Some, like Dante and Chang Xuefeng, had one of their hands in their pocket like they were simply taking a stroll, while others, like Tank and Salvatore, were constantly scanning for a threat.

It was amazing how different each one of the guys was, and yet, they complemented each other like snacks that were both sweet and salty. I don’t know how I got so lucky to be able to keep them, but I was going to fight tooth and nail against anyone who tried to take them from me.

"So," murmured Dante, seeing that I was looking at all of them. "What comes next?"

The smile on my face dropped as I thought about what I wanted to do. It wasn’t that hard of an answer. I didn’t want to do anything. I wanted to laze around all day with my pets, with the guys waiting on me hand and foot, and I didn’t want to worry about anything.

But life never went the way we wanted it to be. What I needed to do was take care of the threats at home so that I didn’t have to keep looking over my shoulder or worry about what idiot would start to cause shit.

Père had been taken care of, so that was a big weight off my shoulders. But there was still Alicia and Réne... I don’t see her letting me live in peace seeing as I am pretty sure she wants to take over the world. Then there was Adam and whatever level of fuckery that he has going on.

Delliah, or mother dearest, still needed to be killed. I wasn’t letting her haunt me in human form any longer. I mean, if she becomes a ghost, then be my guest. It might actually be fun to be haunted. Marcus was wishing for death, so I didn’t need to worry about him.

Who else? Bishop was on the list, but after that whole scene where Alicia and Réne kicked him out of the friendship ring, I wasn’t worried about him. Maybe I would let him and Alicia battle it out. Then I only had to deal with the winner.

Yeah, I really couldn’t think about anything else that required my attention.

Just at that moment, my stomach started to growl. Okay, so maybe food required my attention. But at least the house had gotten over its little tantrum so I will never be hungry again.

"Baby girl?" asked Daddy, pulling me out of my thoughts and back to reality. "What’s going on in that head of yours?"

"Wondering who made the list and who’s been crossed off," I answered with a shrug.

"I take it you as planning on dealing with Sadie and Colt?" asked Tank, his eyes narrowing on the raptor that had poked his head out of the leaves.

"I wasn’t planning on it," I answered with a sigh.

"Colt needs to be put in his place," replied Dante, his eyes narrowing on the bridge in front of us. "He is like a weed. If we don’t pull it out now, he might just rise up enough to suffocate us."

I snorted at that, not taking Colt as that much of a threat. But Dante was right. I would need to find those survivors. I still had all of Sadie’ stuff in my space, and having it there reminded me just how stupid and accommodating I had been to her.

"Food and sleep first," I announced, stepping onto the bridge. The second I entered the house’s territory, the day turned to night like the flick of a switch. It was almost as if the jungle wanted to make sure that I got home safe and sound, and now that I was, it was okay for the sun to go away and the nighttime predators to rise and shine. "Then I’ll deal with Sadie and Colt."
