Chapter 380: A Knock On The Door

There was a round of growls so dark that they sent shivers of pleasure up and down my spine.

"We no talk about you dyin’," announced Ronan, rolling out of bed with a cold look on his face. "Dat topic is off the table, permanently."

Blinking my eyes at him, I nodded my head silently. Okay then. Apparently, that was a landmine I didn’t know about. I wondered for a moment if that had always been there or if it was something that appeared after last night.

Either way, I wasn’t going to mention it again.

"Death," said Chang Xuefeng, pointing to himself. "They’ll have to go through me to reap your soul, and that isn’t going to happen. Death, for you, isn’t happening. Now, let’s get you fed. You won’t grow any taller if you don’t eat your vegetables."

My eyes narrowed on the Angel of Death, letting out a soft growl of my own. "I’m 22," I spat out. "I’m as tall as I ever will be. Do you know a lot of 22 year olds who suddenly get a growth spurt? Besides, veggies are yucky. I’d rather stay short for the rest of my life than be forced to eat veggies for eternity."

Cocking my head to the side, I stopped talking. That could be a new level of hell. A unique punishment for the truly deranged souls. Having to eat veggies for every meal until the end of time. No carbs, no sugar, no meat.

Tilting my head back, I let out an evil cackle even as I headed out of the bedroom and down the stairs.

"Not even going to ask," said Beau, following quickly after me. He was still covered in blood, and he reeked. In fact, they all did.

"At least wash your hands before we eat," I sighed, stepping onto the main floor. "We aren’t savages."

Salvatore chuckled low under his breath as he brushed past Beau. Giving me a mind melting kiss, I felt my knees give out as he plundered my mouth like he owned it. "Good morning, beautiful," he breathed in my ear before passing me off to Luca.

My eyes followed him into the kitchen, where he started washing his hands in the sink.

"You might want to close your mouth before a fly gets in," suggested Luca, kissing me on the forehead. His arm was wrapped around my back, supporting my weight as I wondered what type of alternative reality I had managed to find myself in.

"And when you are ready, I want to speak to you," he continued like everything was normal. "Mine," he breathed in my ear before passing me on to Dimitri and walked into the kitchen after Salvatore.

"Am I dreaming?" I asked, blinking rapidly at the man looking down at me. "I have to be dreaming, right? Or am I dead? Did I die from lack of sleep? I blame the house."

Ronan stomped over to me and stole my breath with his kiss. It was unhinged, something that I had only tasted with the first two men. But Ronan wasn’t holding back anything. As suddenly as it started, the kiss ended, leaving me reeling.

"Any time you talk about you and dying, death, or anything like that, I am going to kiss you," hissed Sloth, his eyes flashing for a moment before calming down.

Once again, I narrowed my eyes. "Is that supposed to be a deterrent?" I asked, really needing to know the answer. Because as far as I was concerned, that seemed like a damn good reason to talk about death every moment my mouth was free.

Oh, right. Landmine.

Fuck.

"If you go an entire day without mentionin’ it, I’ll kiss you on your other lips," purred Ronan. His accent, combined with his words, made my mouth dry while it made other parts wet.

"I want that," I nodded like a bobble head.

"Den you know what you need ta do," said Ronan, booping the tip of my nose.

When he walked away, I could see the amused look on Dimitri’s face. "Donna look at me," he advised, rubbing his hard member against my hip. "I’m on ’is side."

Clearly giving me a break, Dimitri swept me up in his arms and carried me into the kitchen, where a full breakfast spread was already waiting for us.

"Ladies first," smiled Dante, handing me a cup of coffee with more milk and sugar than actual coffee.

"If you ever see any ladies in the house," I deadpanned, taking a sip of the super sweet drink. "Feel free to kill them. They broke in."

There was a soft round of chuckles as Daddy took a plate from the side and started piling up all my favorites. Not a single man tried to take any of the food. They simply poured themselves a drink and sat down, talking quietly amongst themselves.

Once again, it struck me just how much last night seemed to change them.

Before I could open my mouth to comment, a knock came at the door.

"Nope," hissed Désiré as he pushed me back down in my chair. "We’re no openin’ any doors until you eat. We learned our lesson last time."

Seeing his point, I dug into the French toast on my plate. The moment I took my first bite, the rest of the guys started to pile up their own plates.

By the time I was halfway through my plate, my curiosity was killing me. I was like a kid on Christmas morning when the parents insisted that everyone eat before opening presents. It was cruel and unusual torture.

As if reading my mind, Chang Xuefeng let out a sigh. "Fine. Take one of the others with you. If it is someone looking for a wish, shut the door in their face. If it is one of the MCs, tell me so I can kill him. If it is a girl guide, get three boxes of cookies."

I was already by the door before he had managed to finish his sentence, bouncing on the balls of my feet while Tank sauntered out of the kitchen, taking his time. Grabbing the door handle, he opened the door to the outside world.
