Chapter 92: Desperation

Chapter 92: Desperation

Nancy walked through the crowded streets, her fingers hovering over the keypad, debating whether to reply to Tyson.

She felt guilty for making him suffer the whole day. She could almost hear his voice whispering the words from his text—I love you.

"No, Emily said I should punish him a little," Nancy murmured, glancing at her necklace. "Just a little longer... I’ll make sure he’s happy by the end of the date. She will make sure of it"

A small smile tugged at her lips as she thought about what she could do to make him happy. Maybe a kiss? But what if he wanted something more...something more in the form of an apology?

Well, if he asked for it, then why not? Just as she lowered her phone— A blur of movement, Her phone was gone. Nancy’s heart jumped. A thief!

"My phone!" she shouted, watching the man sprint away. A few people turned, startled. One guy immediately gave chase, but the thief was too fast and disappeared into the maze of alleys.

The man returned moments later, shaking his head. "I’m sorry. He was too fast."

Nancy exhaled, feeling uneasy. Mom will scold her if she finds out. But wait, how will she contact Tyson? She won’t have a way unless she reaches home and calls him herself. She stared at the alley where the thief had vanished. "I... it’s okay. I guess I’ll have to file a complaint first"

"I can tag along," the man offered, "the station is along the way."

She hesitated, "No, thanks. I’ll call my boyfriend," she said, offering a polite smile. "Thanks for trying."

Just as she turned to leave, he sprayed something into the air. A sharp, unfamiliar scent filled her lungs, prompting her to cough, and she waved a hand in front of her face. "What the hell was that?"

He grinned, holding up the Can. "Deodorant. Want one?" His voice was almost playful. "You could buy one for your boyfriend."

Her stomach twisted. Why now? Her phone had just been stolen, and this guy was trying to sell her something. She took a step back, covering her nose. "No, I don’t want anything."

The man nodded and walked away.

Nancy’s skin prickled with unease. That was weird. The timing. The way he sprayed it right at her.

"How long will it take for the sedative to kick in?" the driver asked, his eyes flicking toward the girl struggling in the distance.

"Half an hour," Justin murmured, watching her intently. His gaze lingered on her lips, the way her lashes fluttered as confusion clouded her eyes. "She’ll head toward the station first, but the Sedative will make her slow, weak. Helpless. She’ll already be mine by the time she realizes what’s happening."

Nancy’s steps faltered, her body growing sluggish as if gravity had doubled. A strange dizziness coiled around her mind, making her vision blur. She stumbled toward a nearby concrete wall as her palm pressed against it for support.

Her breaths came shallow. She felt something was wrong. She wiped the sweat forming on her brow, her fingers trembling. The city around her seemed to fade in the dark.

"What’s... going on?" she mumbled, trying to steady herself. Through her swimming vision, she saw a shadow approaching—tall, familiar. Her heart clenched with desperate hope.

"T-Tyson...?" Her voice was barely a whisper as she heard a chuckle.

"Yes, my love," the voice purred. "I’m here to take you home."

Strong arms wrapped around her just as her legs gave out. Her body collapsed, sinking into the warmth of an embrace she wanted to trust. But something was off. Too tight. Too possessive.

Nancy’s hazy mind fought against the fog clouding her senses. This wasn’t Tyson. His touch... felt different—Hungrier as if it could swallow her in a breath.

"See?" Justin whispered, "Even your body knows. You belong to me."

Her heart pounded sluggishly. She forced her eyelids open, trying to make out his face, her lips parting in protest. "Y-you’re... not Tyson..."

Justin only smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her damp forehead.

"Shhh," he whispered, cradling her closer. "Don’t fight it, my love. This... this is fate."

As he lifted her into his arms, carrying her like a bride, the van door open front of him. The city continued as if nothing was happening. As if a predator hadn’t just claimed his prize.

With a final glance down at the girl nestled against his chest, Justin inhaled deeply, savoring the scent of his victory.

The black minivan consumed them whole, its engine roaring to life before disappearing into the night.

Nancy’s mind drifted in and out of consciousness, her body heavy, her senses dulled. She felt movement—a gentle sway as if inside a moving vehicle. But when her eyes fluttered open, she found herself in what looked like a lavish bedroom.

The scent of vanilla and roses lingered like an unwelcome embrace. Beneath her, she felt a plush bed adorned with white sheets scattered with rose petals. The scene was disturbingly romantic, resembling a chamber set for a bride and groom. Yet, it only filled her with terror.

Her heartbeat quickened. Where was she? The last thing she remembered was walking home from school. Her phone was stolen, and she was trying to reach the station...but then what happened?

She tried to move, only to feel silk restraints tightening around her wrists. She tried to tear them away, but it only made it worse. She pulled harder, but the ties barely budged, as if they were digging into her pale skin.

A muffled shout broke the eerie silence as she heard shouting in the chamber next to hers in the exact vehicle.

Her breath caught. The voice—familiar. Too familiar.

A shiver crawled down her spine as she turned toward the door, her chest rising and falling in rapid breaths as if at any moment she might see the person she feared the most.

The handle twisted, and the door cracked open, and she saw him—the devil himself, Justin, with his smile calm—too calm. His presence felt like a nightmare to her.

"N-No..." Her voice trembled as she struggled against the ties, her fear turning to raw desperation. "Why... why are you here?"

Justin approached the bed slowly and deliberately as if enjoying the moment. He sat beside her. "For you, my love," he murmured, his fingers grazing her bounded wrists.

Nancy flinched, trying to crawl away, but he tugged, pulling her closer. "You can’t run from my love, Nancy,"

"L-Let me go," Nancy pleaded as she felt his breath against her skin.

Justin’s grip tightened, his fingers tangling into her hair as he yanked her closer. "No!" His voice was filled with twisted obsession. You are mine—mine to possess, mine to break, mine to take." His dark eyes burned with an unsettling hunger. "And I will never let you go."

Nancy’s heart pounded against her chest. Tears welled in her eyes and spilled down her cheeks, but Justin only smirked, watching her unravel with cruel delight. He liked seeing her like this—helpless.

Her chest heaved as sobs escaped from her lips. She could already see the cruel fate that awaited her. No one knew. No one would come. She would disappear before anyone—before Tyson—even realized she was missing.

"How dare you think of any other man besides me, Nancy?" he said. "Am I not enough for you? Or will you be satisfied after I kill every single man who dares to lay his eyes on you, huh? Do you want that?"

Nancy’s eyes went slightly wide.

Justin released her hair abruptly, stepping back with an amused chuckle. "Cry all you want, my love. It only makes this more exciting."

He turned toward the door, muttering with impatience. "Once this damn traffic clears, we’ll be past the city walls. And then..." He turned to her, his grin dark, "I’ll show you what happens when you disobey me."

Nancy’s breath hitched past the city walls. That meant one thing—Babylon.

It would be too late if Justin took her beyond Elria’s borders; he would ensure that Tyson never found her. No!

Nancy’s gaze darted frantically, searching for something—anything. Then her eyes landed on her pendant—the one Tyson had given her.

A sudden rush of hope surged through her veins—the tracker.

She remembered his words: "If you’re ever in danger, press the center—just once. No one will see, no one will hear, but I will find you."

Justin’s back was still turned to her.

She Summoned every ounce of strength and rolled to her side, twisting her body just enough. Her fingers trembled as she reached for the tiny triangular button in the pendant’s center.

She pressed it. For a brief moment, a faint white light flickered against her chest. Justin didn’t notice. Nancy swallowed hard, turning her face away to hide the hope flickering in her eyes.

Now, she just had to hold on until Tyson rescued her. He was the only one who could save her from him. He has to...or else this monster will take her away.
