Chapter 58: Way to Drill

Chapter 58: Way to Drill

Lara stood beside the heavy vehicles parked in front of the Ranger Association in the early morning light. She had arrived early, eager to be alone with Senior Tyson. As her new team leader, they would be training together, and she wanted to make a strong first impression.

"Miss, you can leave your luggage with me," an officer offered as he secured her bags behind one of the advanced off-road trucks.

Her eyes flicked to the nameplate on one of the vehicles—Sergeant Tyson and his team. She smiled to herself, tracing the name with her gaze.

Wearing form-fitting training attire that highlighted her sculpted body, Lara exuded confidence as her anticipation grew. She had consistently devoted herself to training, striving to keep pace with the elite Rangers. Now, the prospect of collaborating with Tyson sent her excitement to new heights.

Her attention shifted to movement in the distance—Shaun casually walked toward the row of trucks designated for transporting Rangers. Around them, cadets began to arrive one by one.

"Hi there," Lara greeted, her eyes scanning past Shaun as she looked for Tyson. But he wasn’t there.

"Hey, you’re early," Shaun remarked as an officer gathered his luggage.

"Yeah, I prefer to be ahead of schedule," she responded smoothly.

"That’s a good habit," Shaun nodded.

Before their conversation could go on, Ken and his usual group came over, his voice echoing through the morning air as he boasted about his training sessions with his father.

"This drill will be nothing compared to that," Ken boasted—until his eyes fell on Lara. His words faltered for a moment as his gaze slowly swept over her.

His subordinate elbowed him. "B-Boss, your future girlfriend is so attractive."

Ken smirked, his eyes still fixed on Lara. "I know."

Lara ignored them, but Ken hovered closer, clearly unwilling to let her indifference go unchecked. After failing to elicit a reaction from her, he shifted his attention to Shaun.

"Shauny boy, have you ever done any serious training before?" Ken asked with a smirk.

Before Shaun could respond, Lara interrupted, her tone pointed.

"He fought bravely alongside the senior Rangers in the last battle—unlike someone who likely hid under a bed."

Ken’s face flushed with anger. "What did you just say?" he exclaimed. "If I had been there, I would have defeated the rebels all by myself!"

Lara rolled her eyes, clearly unimpressed. Shaun stayed silent, uninterested in feeding Ken’s ego.

Ken’s subordinate, always eager to support him, stepped forward. "Don’t underestimate the Boss- he is your future husband."

Lara’s expression turned grim. "Who?" she snapped. "If you even think about saying that again, I’ll kick you all the way to the Power Stone Mines."

The underling quickly turned pale and scrambled behind Ken. "B-Boss...!"

Ken kept arguing with Lara, his eager underling supporting him—until he saw a girl.

A few meters away came a breathtaking vision of beauty, effortlessly capturing the attention of everyone around her. A soft, luxurious woolen muffler draped elegantly around her slender neck, perfectly complementing the long, flowing coat that swayed gracefully with each step she took. Her lustrous, raven-black hair tumbled effortlessly down her back, framing her flawless, porcelain skin that glowed with a dewy softness and delicate features. Her eyes—deep, dark, and irresistibly hypnotic- scanned the space, looking intently for someone.

The cool morning breeze danced with a few loose strands of her hair, carrying her perfume’s faint, intoxicating scent—warm vanilla with a touch of jasmine. It enveloped her like an invisible aura, enhancing the quiet mystery surrounding her. Something in the way she existed—a beauty so refined, so naturally captivating—caused the air to thicken as though the world itself had come to a standstill to gaze upon her.

Ken stood frozen, his usual bravado wholly gone, his mouth slightly open as he stared at her. Meanwhile, Lara felt an odd unease wash over her. She wasn’t one to doubt her appearance, but even she had to admit—this girl was on an entirely different level.

"Who is that?" Lara asked, attempting to hide her discomfort.

"G-Goddess," Ken whispered in awe.

His subordinate nodded enthusiastically. "Absolute Goddess."

The girl glanced in their direction briefly—just long enough for their breaths to stop—before turning her attention to her phone, completely indifferent to the effect she had just left on them.

"Boss, why not ask her out?" the underling whispered. "I’m sure she’ll be impressed by your background."

Ken smirked, running a hand through his hair. "Of course, she will. Who wouldn’t be?" His confidence soared as he straightened his jacket, ready to go.

But before he could move, a luxurious car pulled up directly before the girl. The sleek vehicle’s engine purred like a wild animal, demanding attention.

Then—bam!

The door swung open, and Tyson was abruptly kicked out.

"Get the hell out of my car, loser!" Alex shouted as he shoved Tyson onto the pavement before speeding into the Rangers Association parking lot.

"Just you wait! I’ll have the last laugh!" Tyson called after him, dusting himself off. But instead of looking frustrated, he grinned—his gaze immediately fixed on Nancy.

"Hey, gorgeous," he said smoothly, approaching her.

Nancy’s face brightened. "Hey," she said softly, stepping closer and embracing him warmly.

Lara recoiled. Her fingers curled tight, a strange sensation swirling within her. Wait... Does Tyson have a girlfriend? And not just any girlfriend—this unbelievably beautiful girl? How had no one in the fan club discovered this? Unlike Alex, who was well-known as unattainable, Tyson’s relationship status remained a secret, allowing for forbidden adoration from girls everywhere.

After all, he was wealthy, attractive, and a formidable Ranger with a promising future. It was clear why so many were fawning over him.

But now?

Lara’s excitement about working under Tyson suddenly felt different—almost like she now had a mountain to climb.

Ken, however, was in total denial.

"This is unbelievable!" he sputtered, his eyes darting between Tyson and Nancy as if trying to make sense of reality. "How could he land a beauty like her?"

"Right... This has to be a prank!" the underling exclaimed, gesturing dramatically with his hands.

At that moment, Tyson and Nancy turned toward them.

Tyson smirked, clearly amused by their reactions. "Look, my teammates," he said, casually gesturing. "That’s Shaun, she’s Lara, and these two..." He lazily motioned toward Ken and his underling. "Just ignore them."

Shaun offered a respectful nod. Lara smiled hesitantly, still reeling from the surprise.

Ken, however, felt the insult strike him like a punch to the gut.

He clenched his jaw, his eyes narrowing. He had felt disrespected.

"Hi," Nancy smiled, "please take care of him."

Tyson laughed,

Lara replied, "I will... I mean, we will."

Nancy paused, gazing at Lara. She tried to ignore that girl in her best effort so she wouldn’t feel anything about it, but the more she looked at her, the more uneasy Nancy became. Just now, how she said, ’I will,’ clearly alerted her, even though Tyson felt nothing about it.

"You haven’t told me you have a girl on your team," Nancy said, pulling him into a side hug, as if trying to squeeze him with her other hand. "And you were complaining about Alex."

"Oh, that... She is talented, and that’s why I decided to bring her on board," Tyson replied. "And that guy also helped me during the last battle."

"I know," Nancy said, briefly glancing at Shaun. "Thanks, Shaun."

"No worries," Shaun said with a smile,

"OMG, it’s Alex!" the girls shouted as Alex walked in, his luggage hanging on his back.

"Hey there, girls," Alex said, glancing at Tyson. "Ready for the journey?"

"Yes!" the four girls exclaimed together.

"Good, get in," Alex said, giving Tyson the middle finger.

Tyson shook his head. "See, I told you, womanizer."

Nancy quietly watched Tyson, as if she wanted to say the same thing, but she knew her innocent boyfriend was unaware of the kind of attention he was receiving.

Tyson exhaled and glanced at his team as they climbed into the truck. "Alright, time to go," he said.

Nancy stepped closer and pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek. "Take care," she murmured.

Tyson smiled and said, "I’ll see you in a week."

"Yes, please take care," Nancy said. "Don’t use your phone; focus on your work."

She wanted to say not to use the phone so he wouldn’t see the page his fans had created, where they were going crazy for him—maybe even over the top. She wanted him to be his true self, not the one who gloated, knowing that he had fame at his disposal like other people.

He saluted her with a smile while hanging by the vehicle’s door. "Yes, ma’am. Anything else I should be aware of?"

She shook her head with a smile.

The engines roared to life, the convoy of trucks rumbled forward, sending dust swirling in their wake. Nancy stood motionless, watching them fade into the distance, a lingering sensation settling in her chest as the last truck disappeared.
