Chapter 49: Edward Vs Coco

Chapter 49: Edward Vs Coco

A sharp crack echoed beneath Edward’s feet as he launched forward—lightning fast. Coco reacted instantly, leaping to meet him mid-air.

Their fists collided.

A shockwave erupted, tearing through the battlefield like a thunderclap. Dust and debris spiraled outward as soldiers and rogues alike shielded their faces. The sheer force of the impact split the ground beneath them.

Edward struck first. His punch slammed into Coco’s rib cage, the impact echoing through the air with a metallic clang. Coco grunted but immediately retaliated, swinging his elbow toward Edward’s face.

Edward tilted his head slightly to allow the blow to graze by, then twisted his torso, driving a brutal knee into Coco’s gut.

Coco staggered back, coughing. The sheer force of Edward’s strike reverberated through his armor, causing a tremor in the metal plates.

Edward didn’t wait; he pressed forward, his blows precise and relentless. Each strike forced Coco further onto the defensive. His boots skidded backward, kicking up dust clouds as people on the battlefield scattered, running for cover.

"Hey! Clear the area!" the Lieutenant shouted, gesturing for the Rangers to evacuate the civilians. As they rushed to safety, their eyes darted back to the fight, and they silently cheered for their General.

A heavy right hook struck Coco’s helmet with a deafening clang. Before he could recover, Edward’s follow-up kick sent him hurtling across the battlefield, his boots digging trenches into the dirt. He tumbled and finally crashed hard onto the ground.

For the first time in the battle, Coco smiled—a bitter, knowing smirk. "So, you’ve finally stopped holding back your punches."

Edward’s expression was inscrutable, but his voice was icy. "I no longer see you as my brother."

A metallic hum filled the air as a mechanical bow appeared in Edward’s grasp. He didn’t take his eyes off Coco, but his gaze briefly flickered toward the people in the distance. They were too close. Too vulnerable.

He had to end this away from them, or Coco—cunning as always—would figure out how to use them against him.

Coco chuckled. As if he could read Edward’s thoughts, he tilted his head and murmured, "You don’t need to worry about that. i’m done playing games"

The purple aura around him intensified, and his whip snapped open with a sharp crack.

Coco struck first. The whip hissed through the air like a snake. Edward sidestepped, the weapon cutting just inches from his face.

Another crack—Coco flicked his wrist, the whip curling around Edward’s leg. But before Coco could react, Edward yanked him forward, spinning mid-air.

He flipped in mid-air, landing behind his opponent and slamming an elbow into Coco’s back as he stumbled forward.

"You’ve gone too far," Edward said, his tone sharp and angry.

Coco exhaled, his grip tightening around the whip. "I know," he admitted, his eyes locked onto Edward’s. "And I’m ready to see this through to the end."

Coco lunged without hesitation, but an arrow’s sharp whistle sliced through the air. His instincts screamed at him. He twisted, his whip snapping up just in time to deflect the speeding projectile with a metallic clink.

Edward didn’t allow him a moment to recover. Two more arrows shot forward in rapid succession—blazing fast. To anyone else, they were merely streaks of silver, too quick to follow.

Yet, somehow, Coco’s whip lashed out with incredible precision, intercepting both arrows mid-flight. The impact sent sparks flying as the battlefield shook under the weight of their duel.

"How could you kill your own friend?" Edward’s voice was filled with barely contained fury.

He loosed an arrow without hesitation. It slammed into Coco’s chest plate, sending sparks flying. The impact force made Coco stagger back but stayed on his feet.

"For the greater good... I had to," Coco replied, his voice filled with something ambiguous.

Edward clenched his jaw. "The greater good, my foot!"

In a blur, he dashed forward, his bow dissolving back into his armor as his fingers tightened around Coco’s helmet, as if trying to grasp Coco’s face with his hands.

"You just wanted revenge."

Coco exhaled, almost amused. "That too."

Before he could utter another word, Edward slammed his head against the rough, cold concrete wall of a nearby building. The impact echoed with a bone-chilling thud as deep cracks spiderwebbed across the surface.

Coco’s nano-bots hurried to repair the damage on his metallic helmet. Undeterred, Edward drove Coco’s head forward as he ran along the crumbling concrete, pressing it against the surface, which produced a screeching sound of metal scraping against concrete, igniting a noise. The friction between the two surfaces created a mesmerizing display of sparks, leaving a trail of shimmering lights in their wake. The entire building shook under the sheer force of their collision, adding a palpable sense of danger to the chaotic scene.

Then, with a brutal twist of his body, Edward tore Coco free and hurled him like a ragdoll. Their clashing auras lit up the battlefield, a blinding spectacle of power and fury.

Edward hurled Coco into the air, sending him crashing into the third floor of a nearby building. Glass shattered, walls crumbled, and dust erupted into the night sky.

Edward leaped into the wreckage.

The battlefield descended into stunned silence.

Coco had been an unstoppable force, a harbinger of destruction for so long. He had single-handedly dominated the Rangers and Rogues alike, and his very presence was enough to instill fear in their hearts. Many believed he was death incarnate, a force beyond reckoning.

And now, he looked pale compared to General Edward.

The city erupted.

"Is that... Dad’s real power?" Tyson murmured, struggling to comprehend what he was seeing.

Alex shook his head with clenched fists. "I don’t know. I’ve never seen him like this before. I’ve never seen him... in a rage."

Seraphina clasped her hands tightly and whispered a silent prayer. She had always known her uncle was strong, but this... this was something more.

People poured into the streets throughout the city, cheering Edward’s name. Rangers and civilians erupted excitedly, some chanting while others cried in disbelief.

In homes, restaurants, and busy squares, screens broadcast the fight live.

"General Edward is unstoppable!" news anchors exclaimed with excitement. "The once-feared Coco is being utterly overwhelmed!"

Hashtags have exploded on social media.

Some cursed Coco, while those who supported him remained silent. Others watched in awe, mesmerized by the sheer power of their General.

Tonight, the city witnessed something unforgettable.

Coco staggered, attempting to regain his footing on the office floor of a random company. The once-pristine tiles beneath him shattered under his weight, with cracks spider-webbing outward.

But he had no time to breathe.

Edward crashed in like a thunderstorm. Before Coco could even reach for his whip, a brutal punch slammed into his ribs, followed by another—relentless and merciless.

The room became their battleground.

Fists flew. Armor clashed. Each devastating blow sent shockwaves rippling through the floor. Desks toppled over, and chairs shattered into fragments as they used whatever they could as both shields and weapons.

They charged through the office, crashing into walls, shattering pillars, and leaving chaos in their wake.

A metal fist to the jaw, a knee to the ribs.

Neither of them held back. They fought like war gods, ripping apart the very structure around them, the echoes of their battle shaking the building to its core.

Coco was sent flying, crashing through the side of one building and into the next. Edward didn’t hesitate. He leaped after him, firing a rapid barrage of arrows in mid-air. Each shot struck like a missile, with explosions erupting where Coco landed.

The adjacent building shook with intensity.

Coco groaned as he tried to push himself up from the wreckage. He had crashed into a vacant apartment—thankfully so because of its location close to the battlefield.

Coco summoned his whip while Edward stood firm, his hands gripping his bow tightly.

Coco took a moment to breathe and then lashed out with a vicious attack. Edward countered every action as he parried skillfully, although a few attacks still got through his guard. He struck back with precision, countering Coco’s furious attacks.

"We were going to change this damned city for good!" Coco yelled, ducking before charging back. His whip clashed against Edward’s bow, pushing Edward onto the defensive. "We must protect the protect humanity!"

"We are protecting them," Edward snarled as he deflected another strike. "But we can’t take away their freedom!"

Coco moved in a blur, his attacks becoming more relentless. Sensing the shift, Edward leaped against the wall, using the momentum to push himself backward and create distance between them. His breaths came in heavy gasps, but his stance remained strong.

Edward’s eyes tracked Coco’s every move in blurred motion, noticing how the force of his footsteps shattered the apartment floor beneath his feet. Calculating his next step, Edward swiftly wrapped his bow’s string around Coco’s leg and then pulled him off balance.

Coco stumbled forward, and in that split second, Edward’s burst forth. Taking the chance, he delivered a solid punch straight into Coco’s chest. Coco was sent crashing backward into the wall with a deafening boom, debris scattering around and over him.

Coco exhaled tiredly as he retracted his helmet, brushing small chunks off his body. Blood trickled down from his mouth as he let out a hoarse laugh.

"You were always different from me," he rasped, his voice barely audible. I chose this path, and you took the other... It’s fascinating to see how our decisions led us to where we are today."

Edward walked through the rubble, bow still clutched in hand. His expression was unreadable. "For better or worse, we did what we could... but this isn’t the change I envisioned."

"Your utopia and mine were never the same," Coco chuckled, revealing a bloodstained grin. "In my utopia, there should no be any Rogues. In yours... it’s just like now—filled with chaos and pain."

Edward exhaled sharply, his grip tightening. "Everyone has their own vision," he said. "But... I really hoped we could have built one together."
