Chapter 114: Tension arise

Chapter 114: Tension arise

Tyson closed his ears as the shouting grew louder behind him. He stepped back from the front line, where the tension had now taken shape—two sides were forming.

On one end stood Edward, silent but firm. On the other, the rogue named Mills, fire in his voice and rebellion in his stance.

Almost everyone had chosen a side now.

Tyson’s gaze swept the room.

Ryuk stood quietly near the Rangers, arms folded, unsure—his eyes darting between both groups like a man trapped in uncertinity.

Then Tyson turned his head to the far corner. Blue sat there, still. Eyes lowered.Unmoving. Unbothered. Or maybe... resigned.

Then Tyson saw him. The only person not caught in the chaos— Ryzen.

He stood alone, separate from the shouting. Watching. A slight smile tugged at his lips, as if amused by the unraveling. He was stood aprat from both groups, alone.

Tyson felt the weight return to his chest. The same pain Coco spoke of—the divide, the corruption, the betrayal. This is how it starts... How worlds fall. Not with an enemy’s sword—but by turning it on each other.

And what could he do?

He wasn’t a leader. Wasn’t special. Just Tyson—a young man who even failed to propose the girl he loves, he took too much time and now there was no time. He was late, super late.

He never wanted to be a Ranger. Never asked for this path. He was just like the rogues... wanting a normal life. A peaceful one.

But something had changed along the way. He had learned to take responsibility. He had learned how to fight. And most of all—he had learned to endure.

Tyson slid down against the cold metallic wall and sat on the floor. His eyes drifted to his team—his terrified, scattered teammates—who stood frozen in place. Lost. Conflicted. Trying to decide which side to follow... or whether to run altogether.

Even some Rangers now looked as if they might step back, tempted to walk away. But doing so would mean betrayal. Cowardice. Abandoning everything they stood for—even if their hearts weren’t in this war.

Tyson clenched his fists.

Something has to change... or this whole room will explode before the first battle even begins.

A boy sat down beside Tyson, not saying anything at first.

He looked to be about Tyson’s age, his skin tanned, his presence calm. A silent smile played on his lips, one that didn’t quite match the chaos unfolding in the room.

"Name’s Rudra," he finally said, scratching the side of his nose. "Rudra Nair. Power points: thirty-one."

Tyson gave him a small nod, still quiet.

"I saw your fight that day," Rudra continued, his eyes fixed ahead. "Against that rogue... Coco, right?"

Tyson’s jaw tightened at the mention.

"You looked like a beacon of hope, you know. For all of us."

They both sat there in silence, watching the arguments fizzle into bitter glares and drawn lines. The room had split—visibly. Groups now clung to their leaders, whispering amongst themselves, throwing accusing looks at the others but too tired or afraid to make a move.

Edward was deep in conversation with a blond-haired man Tyson didn’t recognize, while Alex leaned by a panel on the wall, dressed in an advanced rubber combat suit—sleek and reinforced.

The kind that humans had started copying recently, though none of them came close to the tech Alex wore.

"Everyone believes they’re fighting for what’s just," Rudra said, his voice calm, "But no one’s willing to stop... just for a moment—to really observe what is."

Tyson turned his head slightly, glancing at him.

Would that really solve anything? Could stepping back and looking at the bigger picture ease the war building inside him? Could it quiet the regret burning in his chest—the aching longing for Nancy? The goodbye he never gave. The proposal he never voiced. The time he wasted waiting for courage that never came.

He clenched his fists. What was he even doing here...?

"You know," Rudra said, "I was with my cousin at the bus stop a moment ago"

Tyson looked at him.

"He had a parent-teacher meeting, but was too scared to bring his own parents. So I was going with him instead, pretending to be his older brother." He chuckled faintly. "but here am i, messed up everything. Left him all alone to face his teachers wrath...What a jerk, right?"

"...It—it wasn’t your fault," Tyson said,

Rudra turned and looked at him. His expression was different now. Gentle, but steady. "Then it wasn’t yours either."

He tapped the side of his head with a single finger. "Sometimes, the heaviest burdens we carry... are the ones up here. And they’re the hardest to put down."

Tyson didn’t say anything. He couldn’t.

Rudra gave him a friendly pat on the shoulder, then stood. "Cheer up we are still too young to mourne over something we cannot change" As he walked away, heading toward the adjacent corridor, he started to whistle. A light, aimless tune that carried through the tense air like a breeze no one asked for, but sorely needed.

Tyson leaned back against the wall again. Still weighed down—but maybe, just maybe, not entirely alone.

There are all kind of people around him, same as him who are carrying their own promblems their one set of goals and yet they were snached away from their lived to fight for humanity.

Rangers and Rogues alike, no matter how they blame each other for their pormbled they are always been and always will be with each other. After all They are all humans, their own kin.

Shaun slowly sat down beside Tyson. His hands were trembling slightly, the fear visible in his Eyes. "H-hi, Sergeant,"

Tyson gave him a faint smile. "Hi, Shaun."

Shaun looked across the room at their scattered group—lost, uncertain, but gradually inching toward Tyson like children toward their guardians.

"How... how did things go?" Shaun asked, "With... your plans?"

Tyson didn’t answer. He just stared ahead, hollow-eyed.

The others were gathering—his team—trying to hold onto the one thing they could still believe in... him.

They had defied orders for him once. And would again, if they had to. But right now, they needed him. Not as a fighter but as a leader.

Lara stood a short distance away, her arms crossed tight. Her nails dug into her skin. She watched Tyson silently, feeling his pain... She hadn’t wanted him to propose to Nancy. She had even prayed he wouldn’t.

But now... she wondered ’Do I really love him?’ she said in her mind. ’And if I do... how could I ever wish for his sadness?’

Her guilt crushed her. This is because of me... If I hadn’t wished for something so selfish and ridiculous... maybe things would have gone differently.

Ken glanced between her and Tyson, sensing the tension but choosing silence. For once, his usual smugness had faded into something he never wanted to acknowledge.

Bee, meanwhile, looked the most anxious of them all. He had always thought of himself as the weakest link.

That’s why he gravitated toward Ken and the bullies from the beginning —thinking if he stood with the strong, he wouldn’t be trampled by the rest.

But now... everyone seemed weak. Everyone seemed scared. And Bee was starting to realize. maybe true strength wasn’t in who you followed... but in who you chose to stand beside.

"Don’t worry," Tyson said eyes on Edward, who stood a short distance away speaking with the blond-haired man. "We have the strongest man with us."

The rest of the team slowly turned to look at Edward too.

He wasn’t the strongest man on Earth—but to them, he might as well have been. They had never seen him falter, never seen him afraid. for them he was undefeated. He always stood like a mountain, unwavering, a living fortress for those who sought shelter in the storm.

"Like always... he’ll protect us," Tyson added, as if reminding himself as much as the others. "He’s never failed us. He never will."

Ken nodded, "My father trust Sir Edward... I think we should too."

Near the wall panels, Alex stood staring at a row of circular healing pods, their translucent liquid gently bubbling. "Healing pods, huh?" he murmured. "Advanced enough to regenerate severed limbs..."

"I bet they could regenerate a severed head," said a red-haired guy standing nearby, guitar strapped to his back.

"Maybe," Tim replied, arms crossed, "but what if you die the instant your head’s gone? We’re not cars, man—we can’t just bounce back from a crash."

"name is Red," the guitarist said, shaking Tim’s hand. "You make a good point. That was stupid of me."

"Nah, it happens," Tim chuckled. "Once I used low-quality engine oil in my car. Stupidest thing I’ve ever done. Who even does that?"

Red paused, blinking. "Yeah... I think I should walk away now."

He turned and quietly walked off, eyeing Tim as if he’d stumbled into the wrong conversation entirely.

Alex rolled his eyes at both of them, jaw tightening as if he wanted to knock their heads together. But before he could speak, a familiar voice came. "Find the chambers, settle yourself and take a rest"

They nodded as they started to leave. The Rogues, still cautious of the Rangers, began to follow. Everyone is now in deep waters, and not many understands what will happen next...
