Bastards Ascension: A Playground of Gods -
Chapter 34: Innocent
Chapter 34: Innocent
Kieran was in a tight spot.
Never had he thought that things would turn out that way.
At first, he was angry—being blamed for what he didn’t do was indeed very much annoying.
But now... with proof—being blamed with proof.
Hell, that was completely something else.
Kieran had a look of disbelief, mixed with shock and confusion, even doubts.
It was a complete mix of emotions and feelings.
’I can’t convince them that I didn’t do this, there’s nothing I can say to make them believe me... All this wouldn’t have happened. None of this would’ve happened if she...’ Kieran gritted his teeth, clenching his hands tightly.
He drew a deep breath.
’Alexa, seems I’ll go with your idea,’ Kieran said.
His eyes narrowed.
His haunted eyes turning even darker.

’This is from the Troll Elite.... Just a bit more and I would be able to use the rebate skill again.’ His eyes scanned the small group, falling on Anita.
She was the easiest catch among the rest.
"Want to fight?" Nellyx asked. She could tell from how quiet he had suddenly become, and as well the gaze in his eyes.
"Well, if you won’t believe me, do I have much of an option?" Kieran threw back.
"Doesn’t fighting make you the actual culprit?" Nellyx asked, her gaze turning dark as well.
’His talent allows him to take the form of anyone, and for him to be able to take on the Dean’s attack, he probably had a high-tier Doperium artifact with him,’ Nellyx assessed.
If Kieran was going for a fight, she already had all the information she needed to pin him down easily.
’Except he has another card up his sleeve, he can’t leave this room,’ she thought to herself confidently.
"Doesn’t allowing myself to get caught sound stupid?" Kieran knew what waited for him after he was caught.
They wouldn’t even grant him the chance to explain himself.
’If I let them take me, it’s as much as accepting all the punishments.’
Oma stepped forward, the tension in the group growing.
The two teachers who stood by the door drew closer as well.
Kieran caught sight of them from the back of his eyes.
"Surrender now, and tell us your motive. Else, you know you won’t make it out of here."
Nellyx sat on her seat, her gaze locked with that of Kieran.
’I want to avoid a fight as much as possible.... I’ve used my ability too much already, and I barely have any mana left to use it again,’ she thought to herself.
She wanted to avoid any form of conflict, since it would save her strength.
Her ability was one that took a lot of energy.
Not only could she picture events from the past, but she could picture events from the future as well, keeping her several steps ahead of her enemies.
"Surrender? I don’t think I can," Kieran said.

’My aether points have been refilled, I can use flame explosion again.... But the blast....’
"My flames are too powerful for these mere humans... Tch," Alexa commented, her voice booming with pride.
’That’s the problem, if I use it here, it could affect everyone around....’
"Oma, take him down."
Kieran’s thoughts were disrupted by Nellyx’s next words.
"I’ll have to use it..." he muttered to himself.
That was the only way to escape easily, and that too without causing much harm.
Oma stepped forward, her Doperium dagger buzzing with energy.
Kieran felt a crawl on his skin as he heard the buzzing sound of the blade.
"That blade is dangerous," Alexa warned as well.
There was something unsettling about the energy it emitted.
Kieran prepared himself to take on the four opponents in the room.
Jacob and Anita didn’t seem to care too much about the issue, as it didn’t concern them.
With proof from Nellyx’s ability, if they did anything, it was likely to show that they wanted to be enemies with the entire academy.
Severely injuring the Dean was no small crime.
That alone was enough to cripple the entire academy, and as well, destroy a lot of things.
The tension had reached its pinnacle. Kieran stood in the center.
Faced from both sides.
Behind him were the two teachers who had entered the office mid-way into their discussion.
In front of him were Nellyx and Oma, the two strongest individuals in the academy.
’Do I really stand a chance?’
That was a question worth asking. ’....But, Alexa is a phoenix, I’ve seen her power, and the power of her flames. I’ve got freaking ten times of that! If anything, they should be the ones to fear me!’
The thought rekindled his dying confidence, and he stood with defiance in his eyes.
Nellyx could see it.
’He is ready to fight.’
Oma moved first, sensing the hostility in Kieran’s gaze, but just then...
Like a knife through butter, Anita’s voice cut through the tense air.
"Wait!"
Her voice was timid yet unrelenting.
Nellyx threw a cold, angry gaze towards her, one that asked the question, "Is the Blue Fang faction hungry for a fight?"
Jacob himself looked at her with surprise and intrigue.
Kieran, on his end, had already made up his mind.
’I’m leaving this place.’
He just shifted his defiant gaze to Anita, waiting for her to speak.
Regardless, all eyes were fixed on her.
She shook slightly as everyone had their eyes on her.
’I can’t stop now.... Can I?’ She felt like shrinking into the earth.
Never for once had she mustered the courage to shout out so loudly.
Talk more in such a tense gathering like that.
’No, I have to talk,’ she resolved, drawing a deep breath.
"Do you want us to wait, so you can draw your last breath?" Nellyx’s annoyed voice cut in, but Jacob threw a calm glance at her.
"She’s my vice. I don’t think she’ll speak up for no reason. Let’s hear what she has to say."
Anita looked at Jacob with surprise, her eyes sparkling.
She shook her head, hugging the tablet closer to her chest as she announced:
"The boy... he is innocent!"
