Chapter 32: shocked {castle bonus Chapter}

Everyone in the room seemed to breathe more cautiously—as if afraid the wrong exhale would set Kieran off.

Nellyx remained sitting behind the deans squeaky clean desk.

She looked to be somewhat more tired than she was when she had seen them in the infirmary.

Visible bags could be seen under her eyes.

But regardless, that didn’t stop her from addressing the current issue at hand.

She cleared her throat momentarily, before she continued.

"Kieran Marcoth, as much as I wish to believe you, I must say that I can’t. And as illogical as it may seem, I can’t let you leave this room either, till this matter has been completely dealt with," Nellyx said with a stern look on her face.

Kieran looked more confused than angry at this point.

But even before he could say a thing, two more teachers entered into the room, each dressed in the school’s defense battle suits.

Although none of the teachers were full-time fighters, they each had to learn the basics to be able to teach in the academy.

This was done so as to act as a form of defense whenever the school was to be attacked.

At least they would be able to hold back the beast until any of the factions or families came to their aid.

Seeing them using such a defensive measure so casually, it couldn’t be for any small reason at all.

’Taking all these actions, did this young man actually manage to injure the dean of the academy?’ Jacob began to doubt his initial thoughts as he looked at Kieran.

Although the young boy looked to be very frail and weak, with all the measures the school was taking, it was becoming harder for him to take the young man lightly.

Regardless of this, Jacob remained silent.

’I am merely an observer,’ he told himself as he watched.

Kieran felt even more angered as he saw the teachers enter the room in troupes.

’What’s all of this?’ he couldn’t help but ask himself.

"Kieran, do not force my hand. Take claim of what you have done, and your punishment will be much lighter."

"I did nothing!" Kieran retorted, his face contorting with clear anger.

He stood from the office couch.

Seeing him move, instantly, Oma acted first, drawing out a dagger from the two that were placed in an ’X’ position behind her battle suit.

Kieran looked at her with a shocked gaze.

The feeling of being blamed for what he had not even the slightest idea of.

He didn’t even know how to feel at this point.

Right after Jane, although the feeling was shallow, the second person he held with high regard was Oma, and here she was, raising a blade against him.

Kieran looked at her, questioning what he always believed.

’She placed her work over the little mentorship relationship we had?’ Kieran’s eyes darkened as he looked at her.

He had lost all the regard he had for her in that moment.

There was nothing left.

There was no one to look up to.

There was no one who believed in him, and he didn’t need them anymore.

"Sit " Oma’s voice came with hostility. One Kieran didn’t want to take the brunt of.

Kieran looked around him, his confusion growing with every passing second.

’Do I run? Do I fight them all?’

He could no longer stand it, being blamed for what he did not do.

Nellyx chuckle drew him out of his thoughts.

"You think you can do anything and get away with it?.... Do you wish to know how I found you?"

Kieran looked at her as she spoke, but he didn’t have the strength to argue any longer.

He could only keep quiet and listen as she spoke.

Now he was more interested in what made them come up with such a conclusion.

Hearing her question, Kieran gave a curt nod.

Nellyx drew a deep breath, and then she closed her eyes.

Jacob watched her intently.

He himself had grown quite interested in the entire scenery.

’She’s using her talent,’ Jacob thought to himself, his gaze fixed on her as he tried to decipher what class her talent could belong to.

’Is it an enhancer type talent, summon?’ He couldn’t tell just from the mana flow around her, and it made him more curious.

It was said that the academy’s vice dean was one of the pillars of the academy, and this was because of her unique ability.

Jacob never paid attention to any of that, as he was always a busy man, someone who tried to meet up to the expectations he set for himself, and as well the expectations others had for him.

’Just what is her ability, and what class?’ His short visit to the academy had turned from a normal recruit into a somewhat thrilling exchange, filled with a lot of mystery.

Kieran’s behavior and personality held a depth that surprisingly intrigued him—a rare occurrence—and not only that, but the troubles that seemed to be following the young man as well.

’He must have really bad luck,’ Jacob concluded, a wry smile forming on his face as he shifted his gaze to Kieran momentarily, before shifting it back to Nellyx.

And it just so happened that at that same time, Nellyx had completed the arrangement for her talent.

’It doesn’t take this long, but I’ve already expended so much energy.... Regardless,’ she gritted her teeth in a somewhat discreet manner; she didn’t want to show weakness at all.

A bright blue light shrouded the entire room, and the scenery changed.

Kieran felt as though a blanket had been placed over his eyes.

Kieran was left in awe by Nellyx ability.

"Her talent allows her to replay scenes from residual mana echoes?"

In front of him, a scene began to play.

A figure he remembered quite well.

At first, seeing her made him somewhat happy, but his happiness was suddenly replaced with confusion.

He still had one question to ask her, and it was...

’Miss Jane, why?’

That particular question clung to his mind ever since the day he felt the sting of betrayal.

Sitting where Nellyx was meant to be was the dean himself.

The scene continued, showing exactly how everything had happened.

Kieran was left in shock, but what shocked him even more was what he saw right after Jane shattered the glass wall.

Her face changed, and it wasn’t to any random figure.

’Is that me?’

Immediately, he returned back, facing the teachers, Nellyx, and the two from the Blue Fang faction.

"Now, Kieran... Can you explain to us what we just watched?" Nellyx said with a cold voice.

Kieran could almost tell the sarcasm in her voice.

There was nothing to explain.
