Chapter 193: Chapter 193: Lead-Up(Part 2)
"U-Uh...I have to say, this doesn’t seem fair," Remarked Laiza Terren nervously.
A First-Class Knight under Raven’s command in the Second Squad, she was a Commoner with Noble blood, she was in her mid-twenties, with long, flowing, snowy white hair that fell over her forehead and went halfway down her back, dark red eyes, a fair complexion, and she was above average height, with an attractive, curvy build.
"I have to concur," Nodded Ferd Beryl in agreement.
Another First-Class Knight of the Second Squad, and Wein’s older brother. He was in his late-twenties, with medium-length, straight, light red hair that covered his forehead, dark blue eyes, a light brown complexion, and he was about average in height and build.
"Yeah, well, fights are rarely fair, so this should serve as good training. In my experience, the fastest way to improve is to fight people stronger than you," Responded Raven, as he began stretching.
"Mhm, and don’t worry, we’ll be holding back, of course, though that doesn’t mean we’ll take it too easy," Added Celia with a smile.
"Heh, yeah, let’s put it this way...we aren’t going to kill you, but we will hurt you. A lot," Smirked Colt menacingly.
"Let’s not go too overboard...it’ll be a waste if we end up traumatizing them to the point where they refuse to spar against us again," Pointed out Lexia.
"Um, Captain, Vice-Captain...," Muttered Laiza pleadingly, as she glanced at Raven and Celia.
"Relax, we’ll keep them in check. Come on, you two," Sighed Raven in exasperation.
"Alright, let’s get started, shall we?"
Suggested Celia, as she fastened her gauntlets.
The Second Squad were conducting their training differently. The four Irregulars were confident in their own abilities and teamwork, so they decided to instead focus on the other two First-Class Knights in their squad, Laiza and Ferd.
The pair would be fighting the four Irregulars, their objective was to survive for as long as possible, since actually beating any of the four would be a pretty tall ask.
"Let’s count it down, we begin on one. Five. Four. Three. Two," Called out Raven, pausing briefly before finishing, "One."
Ferd and Laiza swiftly split and raced away in opposite directions, Laiza drawing out her sword as Raven and Celia chased after her, letting out a quiet sigh of relief.
While the two of them were the strongest in direct combat in their squad, Laiza was certain that she’d much rather fight them than the sadist duo.
As they began to catch up to her, she spun around and unleashed a rapid flaming slash at Raven with a swing of her blade, who flew up as Celia took aim and fired out a small but rapid explosive projectile towards Laiza.
She quickly raised her sword up in front of herself defensively, grimacing as the projectile slammed onto the face of her blade and exploded, shattering the blade as she got sent flying back, her back hitting the ground with a thud.
"Ow..."
"Oops, sorry! I’ll buy you a new sword later!" Called out Celia apologetically.
Not too far away...
"Oh, come on!" Exclaimed Ferd in exasperation, as he glanced back to see Colt and Lexia chasing after him.
He came to a halt and spun around, swinging his chain-whip across as he channeled lightning through it, before Lexia took out her own Relic Armament and swung it across while expanding it, striking his chain and knocking it away, before Colt unleashed a rapid blast of blood from his hand.
Ferd quickly fired out a bolt of lightning, vaporizing the blood upon impact, a cloud of red mist bursting out, before he stiffened as he felt something tightening rapidly around his leg.
He turned his gaze down, to see a blood tendril wrapping around his calf, before he let out a sharp yell as he got pulled off-balance and dragged across the ground, before he gritted his teeth and fired out a lightning bolt at the tendril, scrambling back onto his feet as he vaporized it.
He then raced away as fast as he could as a barrage of blunt bone projectiles came shooting towards him, evading a few of them before wincing in pain as a couple of them struck the back of his legs.
He stumbled forward, before quickly swinging his chain-whip across as a blast of blood came shooting towards him, another cloud of red mist erupting as the lightning coating the chain vaporized the attack.
He then froze as he looked around, his heart sinking as he lost sight of the pair, no sign of them around him.
"You should really pay better attention to your surroundings, my guy," Colt’s voice echoed out, before Ferd leapt out of the way as a couple of bone projectiles came shooting towards him, narrowly evading them as one of the projectiles grazed the back of his head.
"Almost had you that time...careful, you might get hurt," Chuckled Lexia, her voice echoing out.
"Damn it, I can’t tell where their voices are coming from...I’m in trouble," Muttered Ferd with a sense of dread, a drop of sweat trickling down the side of his face.
Meanwhile, in Garnet City...
"Alright, you three. Attack me with everything you’ve got, try to break through my Telekinetic Zone and get to the flag," Instructed Aster, as he cracked his neck.
"Pretty sure that’s impossible, Captain," Responded Nile Voner.
A First-Class Knight of the Third Squad, he was in his early thirties, with a shaved head, his eyes were a gradient mix of green and blue, he had a short, thick, black beard, a dark complexion, and he was really all, at around seven feet, with a heavy, muscular build.
He had a Unique Combat Template, a mix of a Dual Blader and Pulverizer, wielding a pair of heavy axes with short handles.
"Also, where’s the Vice-Captain and Ravella?" Inquired Cleaza Opera.
She was nineteen, with long, light brown hair tied up in a ponytail, her eyes were a gradient mix of orange and black, she had a fair complexion, and she was pretty short, with a slender yet busty figure.
She was a Sound Mage with the Saber Combat Template, she was regarded as highly talented, having joined the Knight Order when she was only thirteen.
"Tacitus refused, but I’ll make sure he joins us tomorrow. And I had Ravella stay at the outpost to watch him and make sure he doesn’t slack off," Aster sighed in exasperation.
"How are we supposed to get past your Telekinetic Zone without the Vice-Captain?" Frowned Zina Peridot.
She was in her late-twenties, with shortish, bluish-black hair with an undercut, black eyes with dark blue tinge around the edges of her irises, a pale complexion, she wore black lipstick with a lip ring on left side of her lower lip, and she was above average height, with a slim, agile build. And she was a Wind Mage, with the Lancer Combat Template.
"I mean, yeah, you’re going to need an immense amount of power to get through my zone. But you can at least try. Alright, whenever you’re ready," Replied Aster, as he activated his Telekinetic Zone.
"Okay, here goes...[Sonic Screech]!" Exclaimed Cleaza, firing out a powerful wave of high-pitched sound towards Aster, who swiftly unleashed a telekinetic shockwave to blow the attack away.
Zina then launched herself towards him with an intense blast of wind from the soles of her feet, shooting through the air before slamming her spear against his Telekinetic Zone, but couldn’t break through.
Aster’s gaze darted across to his left as Nile came charging in, before leaping forward as he closed in and swung his axes with all his strength, which collided against the Telekinetic Zone with immense force, to no avail.
Aster unleashed another telekinetic shockwave blowing Zina and Nile away, before a rapid sound blast came shooting towards him, before dissipating as it struck his Telekinetic Zone.
Cleaza raced forward, sprinting across the ground before getting low as she closed in and swung her sword up as she channeled vibrating waves of sound around it, the blade bouncing off Aster’s Telekinetic Zone upon impact.
Aster fired out a telekinetic push towards her, her eyes widening in alarm as she quickly raised her blade up defensively, her feet skidding back several meters across the ground as she just barely managed to keep her balance.
"Come on, guys, you’re going to have to do a lot better than that. Try attacking at the same time or something, do something different!" Aster called out.
"There’s no way...," Muttered Nile.
"I seriously doubt anything we try is going to make a difference, Captain," Sighed Cleaza in response.
"Yeah, we can literally count the number of people who can actually breach your Telekinetic Zone on one hand," Added Zina dryly.
"It’s fine, the main purpose of this training is to improve your teamwork. So, just keep trying stuff," Replied Aster, in an effort to encourage them.
