Back To The 90s: The Resilient Daughter-In-Law
Chapter 913 - Chapter 913 Chapter 912 Disgust

Chapter 913: Chapter 912 Disgust Chapter 913: Chapter 912 Disgust Fu Yiming was cursed at and pointed at by his daughter in front of everyone, causing his face to turn red and his neck to swell with anger. He was a man who valued face, especially in front of women, and didn’t want to lose face.

“You shut your mouth!” Fu Yiming retorted, humiliated and furious.

“Enough! Stop fighting!” Huo Zhenchuan exuded the aura of someone accustomed to high positions, silencing everyone.

“This is a funeral at the Huo Family, not a grand theatrical performance. Listening to you all shouting and quarreling,” although Huo Zhenchuan used the word ‘you,’ how could Fu Yiming not understand that he was being targeted?

Wasn’t that a veiled reference to him?

“Father-in-law.” Fu Yiming smiled, “I’m here to help today, so please tell me if there’s anything I can do.”

“I dare not! I am no longer your father-in-law,” Huo Zhenchuan sneered with a pointed look towards Jing Tong, “And who might this lady be? Your new wife?”

“I am…”

Just as Fu Yiming was about to speak, Jing Tong, who always seemed fragile and pitiable, took a step forward and proactively said with the posture of a protector, “Hello, Chief Huo. You can call me Jing Tong. Although I am married to Yi Ming, rest assured I will treat Xin Wu as my own daughter.”

With a bitter smile, she added, “Though I’m not young, I have lost my daughter and will not bear children again. Xin Wu is now my child.”

Fu Yiming had a satisfied expression. He was a shrewd businessman and did not lack affection for his sole daughter. He decided to bring Jing Tong along precisely for that reason.

Jing Tong wouldn’t bear children, so there would naturally be no disputes over inheritance in the future.

What could the Huo Family possibly complain about?

His actions were more than fair and considerate!

As expected! Huo Zhenchuan’s expression eased a bit. Their family was not so overbearing; their daughter had died many years ago. There was no need to stand in the way of their son-in-law’s remarriage.

“Well then! Don’t stand at the doorway. If there’s anything to discuss, close the door and talk it over slowly. But remember, if you dare to treat Xin Wu poorly, I won’t let you off,” Huo Zhenchuan warned.

Fu Yiming quickly reassured him, internally heaving a sigh of relief. Having cleared it with his father-in-law, there was nothing else to worry about.

In fact, he and Jing Tong hadn’t gone through the formalities yet. He had just been about to explain when, seeing that his father-in-law was not taking issue, there seemed no need to clarify.

After going back, the formalities would be taken care of nonetheless.

Fu Yiming, with Jing Tong in tow, was about to enter when suddenly someone blocked their path.

“Wait!” Huo Linong frowned.

“What’s the matter?” Fu Yiming felt a trace of dissatisfaction towards his father-in-law’s youngest brother.

Huo Linong pointed at Jing Tong and declared, “She is not welcome here.”

Jing Tong clenched her teeth in secret fury but showed none of it on her face, feigning confusion and hurt instead. She silently lowered her head and gently grasped Fu Yiming’s arm.

Calling out with the same term he used for his deceased wife, Fu Yiming asked, “Uncle, what do you mean by this? Where has Jing Tong gone wrong to deserve such difficulty from you?”

“Her?” Huo Linong drew out his words, his scholarly and refined demeanor revealing no faults. But the words he spoke were far from as gentle and tolerant as before.

“She has not offended me, but she has offended my wife. I do not wish for my wife to be disgusted by someone even after death.”

Jing Tong’s face turned ashen, and her grip on Fu Yiming’s arm tightened unconsciously, enough to make him wince in pain. Fortunately, as a man, he didn’t cry out. He took it as his beloved woman being publicly insulted and unable to bear it, squeezing his own arm out of distress.
