Chapter 863 - Chapter 863 Chapter 862 The Son Is Not Good
Chapter 863: Chapter 862: The Son Is Not Good Chapter 863: Chapter 862: The Son Is Not Good Huo Beijiang tapped off the ash from his cigarette, then spoke in a deep, emotionless voice, “You go back to school and look after your aunt.”
“I definitely will,” Fu Xinwu assured repeatedly.
Huo Beijiang nodded. The night was too dark; he did not care whether Fu Xinwu saw it or not. He turned, his gaze as piercing as a hawk’s, cutting through the layers of darkness straight to the slender figure busy in the kitchen.
After a long while, Huo Beijiang let out a low sigh, his brows tightly furrowed.
“I’m leaving!” he said, then turned and, along with Lu Jin, disappeared into the night.
Fu Xinwu hurriedly said, “Aren’t you going to say goodbye to your aunt before leaving?”
Unfortunately, Huo Beijiang did not answer.
He was afraid that if he said goodbye, he would not be able to leave.
Fu Xinwu stood still, his smile gone; he felt tired and sad.
“Xinwu, the boss asked me to remind you to come back on the 28th this month for his mother’s funeral,” Lu Jin returned to say, then left in a hurry without caring about Fu Xinwu’s response.
*******
At the same time, this news spread to many people. Although Huo Beijiang had been with Nan Fei all the time, he had already arranged for it. He had come back early, whereas Huo Linong would take some more time. It would take about two weeks of preparation, and he still had military drills to oversee; holding the funeral on the 28th was just right.
This funeral, although not as large-scale as previous ones, caused a bigger stir than ever before.
The courtyard, the Zuo Family–
“What? The Huo Family is holding another funeral?” Zuo Han, who was talking to his son, was so shocked he almost bulged his eyes out.
“Who is it?” Zuo Han realized after asking that his question was inappropriate and too impolite.
Zuo Han signaled for the messenger to leave. Then, turning to his son, who always maintained a calm expression, he thought since Yao Yao always played with Huo Kewei, he must know what was going on. He thus directed his questioning gaze at Zuo Xinyao.
“It’s Bei Jiang’s mother, Yuan Xueshan.”
“That’s important,” Zuo Han muttered to himself.
It didn’t matter who Yuan Xueshan was; what mattered was that she was Huo Beijiang’s mother, and that meant everyone would attend.
“I’ll have my secretary note it down; we will definitely attend,” Zuo Han said without asking for details. Now that Huo Beijiang was in charge of the Huo Family, if he had any other intentions, he would have mentioned them when they met during the day.
Initially, everyone was puzzled over Elder Leader Huo’s will before his death, especially since Huo Dongfeng was still around at that time, along with Huo Zhenchuan. Both were high-ranking, experienced, and qualified.
Yet the old man had chosen a man in his twenties to take charge of the Huo Family on his deathbed.
It seemed irrational no matter how one thought about it.
But, seeing the actual situation over the past year, one had to admit that the old man’s foresight was extremely sharp.
The choice for his successor was good–young and vigorous, yet calm and composed in dealing with matters, and his methods were sufficiently ruthless.
He was in no way inferior to Huo Dongfeng.
In the past, he disliked having his son idle away his time with Huo Kewei, but now it seemed his thinking was outdated. It was time to let go; holding on wouldn’t make any difference.
He had better spend his energy on playing with his grandson instead of trying to control his son.
“Alright, what do you plan to do about the matter I asked you about?” Zuo Han pulled his thoughts back and looked impatiently at Zuo Xinyao.
“What matter?” Zuo Xinyao glanced at his watch, clearly showing some impatience.
