Chapter 800 - Chapter 800 Chapter 799 Small Alley_1
Chapter 800: Chapter 799: Small Alley_1 Chapter 800: Chapter 799: Small Alley_1 It was Zhuanzhuan’s bicycle, originally bought by Huo Beijiang – he bought two at once. Since Zhuanzhuan frequently had to pick up groceries, her bicycle basket always ended up breaking faster. Eventually, when it couldn’t be used anymore, she had it replaced at a bicycle repair stand.
This memory was deeply ingrained in her mind.
The rain was becoming harder, to the point where Nan Fei could no longer hear her own footsteps. The only sound she could hear was her own heartbeat, thud… thud, resounding like a drum being hit.
Eventually, she made it to the place where she had left the bicycle, and reached out her hand in the darkness to touch something cold.
The tension in Nan Fei’s heart finally eased. She pulled out the bicycle and dragged it all the way to Huo Beijiang’s yard. After turning on the lights in the yard, she confirmed it was indeed Zhuanzhuan’s bike.
Why was Zhuanzhuan’s bicycle parked in the alley opposite the Huo family house?
Given the recent tragedy, everything should be just as it was before the incident, right?
Nan Fei was soaked, her clothes sticking uncomfortably to her body. However, she paid no mind to it, standing still for a long moment before finally sighing and deciding to first check on Bei Jiang.
After Nan Fei closed the large iron gates of the Huo family residence from inside, Zhuanzhuan emerged from the alley holding a flashlight. She was without an umbrella, her body drenched in rain, and water streaming down from her wet hair almost obstructed her vision.
Expressionlessly she stared at the tightly shut gates – then turned around and began to walk towards the road leading out of Tongwai Town.
The events had caught her somewhat off guard, and she really hated this feeling. While the bike was a minor oversight, it felt like a massive mistake to her, she had made sure to check everything today.
She didn’t expect her sister to come back.
Nan Fei had traveled all the way from the Imperial City just to see Huo Beijiang.
It was surprising and somewhat disappointing to Zhuanzhuan!
In the rainy night, Zhuanzhuan’s face was pale and she looked displeased. She saw her sister go from detesting to accepting Huo Beijiang – to finally being deeply stuck.
This was just like when she had fallen for Qiao Jingxuan back then.
Thinking about Qiao Jingxuan, her frown grew even deeper.

Upstairs, the door to Huo Beijiang’s room was wide open. Inside, he was sitting on a single seat sofa, his long legs banging on a coffee table by his side, where several empty bottles were scattered around. Considering his usual drinking habits, Nan Fei couldn’t help but feel heartache.
He would never drink under normal circumstances, and even when he did, he had a lower tolerance than she did.
After drinking, he would become delirious acting like a child.
Nan Fei wiped the rainwater off her face and walked into the room, bending down to look at Huo Beijiang.
Normally, he was young, handsome, arrogant, and cocky. His eyes sparkled, looking both provoking when he smiled, and a bit cold and aloof when he didn’t. His eyes were always deep like a pool, making one tempted to drown in them.
However, the Huo Beijiang she was seeing now wore no signs of arrogance. His eyes were dark as if they were age-old ice, where a glimpse would strike fear into anyone’s heart, as if their soul would be frozen.
“Bei Jiang?” She called out softly.
The already drunk Huo Beijiang, with his furrowed handsome brows, stared silently at Nan Fei. His expressionless face did not change for a long while.
“Bei Jiang? How are you? Are you okay?” Nan Fei waved her hand in front of him. His eyes moved in the direction of her hand, confirming to Nan Fei that he was truly drunk and very much so.
