Chapter 601: Chapter 601 Unforgivable_1 Chapter 601: Chapter 601 Unforgivable_1 “Knock knock…” Standing at the door, Nan Fei knocked and called out, “Zhuanzhuan!”
After about a minute, Zhuanzhuan got up to open the door. With sleepy eyes, she broke into a smile upon seeing Nan Fei at the door.
“Sis!” Her voice was filled with undisguised surprise and dependence, which prompted Nan Fei to laugh.
“Where have you been? I’ve been here for a while!”
“I went to get our little brother!” Nan Fei, pointing down at Jiang Yang who was down below being angered by Huo Beijiang into bulging his eyes and puffing his cheeks, laughed and said, “Sorry! If I’d known this was going to happen, you wouldn’t have had to come early.”
Nan Fei got distracted and took a glance downwards. She didn’t know what Huo Beijiang had said to Jiang Yang, but the little chap was so upset that his cherry-red lips were pursed, as if a sauce container could hang from them. This man was utterly shameless, even bullying the simple-minded young lad.
“It’s okay, sister.”
Zhuanzhuan also glanced down, on seeing the scene she chuckled, “Had I known, I would have brought brother along! But if I had, Mom would have surely worried. I haven’t even been out of the house once!”
“Zhuanzhuan, hand me the Hukou book, I’ll go register before the Civil Affairs Bureau office closes, and after the registration, we’ll go for a celebratory meal together.”
“Can we make it?” Zhuanzhuan looked at the setting sun outside, “Why don’t we do it tomorrow?”
Nan Fei laughed, “It’s okay! The Civil Affairs Bureau is not too far, just on the other side. It’s a matter of a few minutes’ walk!” She seemed at ease, but her hand, placed on her side, couldn’t help but lightly tap against her pants rhythmically.
This was a small act she did when she became nervous.
Nan Fei didn’t know how well Zhuanzhuan knew her, for fear of her pretense being seen through, she forced herself to change the slight movements she used to make in the past. Only this small habit was left, as no one ever noticed it anyway.
“Fine, I’ll get it for you.” Zhuanzhuan said with a smile as she scampered back into her room to rummage through her bag.
Nan Fei followed her in and sat on the bed, patiently waiting. She was expressionless, and looking at Zhuanzhuan’s usual attitude and natural demeanor, she even wondered if the Hukou book she had torn before was fake?
Or did she second-guess Zhuanzhuan, misconstruing her intentions?
Unfortunately, Jiang Yang was introverted and couldn’t explain the sequence of events.
Zhuanzhuan grew increasingly flustered as she searched, and was nearly on the verge of tears by the end. She emptied her bag, but still didn’t find the Hukou book. Finally, she whimpered, “Sis, what should we do? Where is our Hukou book? How could it have gone missing?”
Nan Fei’s face slightly changed, but not because Zhuanzhuan couldn’t find the Hukou book, “What happened? It can’t be lost, right! Could it be that you forgot to bring it when you left this morning?”
Zhuanzhuan frantically shook her head, “I’m very sure I brought it, I even checked before leaving!”
As she spoke, her eyes welled up with tears and she looked helplessly at Nan Fei.
“What can we do? I must have lost the Hukou book! What do we do, sis? If Mom and Dad find out, they’ll kill me.”
“What nonsense are you talking about!” Nan Fei reprimanded, “It’s just a Hukou book, right? If it’s lost, we can apply for a new one. Why would they hit you? Don’t worry, Mom and Dad will definitely not hit you.”
“But… but you need it for your wedding! Without the Hukou book, you can’t get married!” Zhuanzhuan, self-recriminatory, looked at Nan Fei, “It’s all my fault! How could I do such a stupid thing, how could I be so careless. This is simply unforgivable!”
