Chapter 588: Chapter 588: Stunned_1 Chapter 588: Chapter 588: Stunned_1 “Hmm! Remember to come back quickly for a meal!”

“Understood!”

As Zhuanzhuan left home, she didn’t head towards her grandmother’s house, but instead made her way towards the fields behind the village. The summer fields were filled with crops like rice, watermelons, corn, and other farm produce.

It was still early, and there was not a soul to be seen in the fields.

Zhuanzhuan casually sat on the edge of a field, her legs dangling in the air. She took out the household register she had secretly taken from her mom, examining it intently, uncertainty and struggle reflected in her eyes.

“Sis,” she sighed. “Why are you thinking of getting married now?”

“It’s too sudden!”

“I didn’t have enough time to prepare!”

She sighed in frustration, resting her chin in her hand. “I had it all planned out – for your wedding, I’d definitely give you an unforgettable and unique gift. But your sudden decision to marry doesn’t leave me enough time to get your present!”

“A wedding!” She chuckled slightly. Though she felt it was a pity, the thought of the auspicious red hues of the ceremony still made her feel happy.

The gently intoxicating morning breeze caressed her face, tender as her sister’s beauty – stunning, yet non-aggressive, offering a comforting and irresistible charm.

“Nevermind! Maybe next time, when you marry again!” Zhuanzhuan stood up, throwing the household register into the cornfield in front of her, and left without looking back.

Only after she had gone a good distance away did the tall cornstalks in the field rustle and shake. In less than a minute, Jiang Yang emerged from the field, his face painted like a little wildcat.

In the morning, he had gone to his grandmother’s house. Jiang Hui wanted to play hide-and-seek, while his grandfather insisted on engaging him in a game of chess. Thinking them both childish, Jiang Yang had run out of the house, distracted by a stray cat in the village before ending up in the cornfield.

When he had started to come out, he heard voices outside the field. Sensing danger, the little guy decided to stay hidden.

Jiang Yang bent down to pick up the household register that was thrown on the ground, a look of confusion flashing across his kitty-like little face when he saw Sister Nan Fei’s name on it.

“Jiang Yang, Jiang Yang where are you? Are you going to play hide and seek with me?” Jiang Hui’s voice echoed from behind the village.

Jiang quickly concealed the register and darted away.

As he lived close to the rear of the village, he was able to run all the way home under Jiang Hui’s shocked gaze. Once there, he sat down on his usual small stool.

“What’s wrong, Jiang Yang?” Guan Rufang, who was preparing breakfast in the kitchen, stretched her head out to look when she heard the commotion.

On hearing his grandmother’s voice, the boy froze before jumping off the stool and darting out. He was back within a minute, carrying his stool.

Guan Rufang was dumbfounded.

This silly kid is becoming stranger by the day.

Jiang Yang carried his stool to his own yard and sat on it obediently without moving.

Zhuanzhuan who was looking for him saw him and called out, “What are you doing sitting out here Jiang Yang?”

Jiang Yang placed his small hands on his knees, propping up his chin and staring silently at the southern road.

Zhuanzhuan didn’t take it to heart, as it was typical behavior for Jiang Yang. With Zhang Fengmei urging her to eat in the yard, she went inside first. Even after finishing the meal and packing her bag to leave, Jiang Yang was still sitting motionless outside.
