Chapter 512: Chapter 512 – Negotiation_1 Chapter 512: Chapter 512 – Negotiation_1 The next day, Nan Fei hurried off to the town government after school, having scarfed down only a rice ball for lunch. Fortunately, she was quick enough; the town’s government was still in session, with officials still at work.
“Hello, young student, who are you looking for?” The gatekeeper, seeing a girl in a Qi Li Middle School uniform, assumed she was a child of one of the staff members.
“Hello, I’m looking for the town mayor.”
“Are you a relative of the mayor?” Asked the gatekeeper, who remembered that the mayor’s daughter didn’t look like her, she was a slightly chubby girl.
“No, no, I need to see the mayor for a matter.” Nan Fei waved her hands, even though she wore a school uniform, her calm and composed demeanor was not something an average student would possess.
“Official business, it’s official business.”
The gatekeeper gave her a dubious once-over but let her in nonetheless.
The town government was housed in a two-story rectangular building, with the mayor’s office located in the third room on the second floor. Following the signage, Nan Fei reached the doorway and noticed that the door was left open.
Inside was an old office desk with a chair placed on either side.
One was for the mayor to sit, and the other was undoubtedly intended for visitors.
Sitting on the chair was a man around his fifties. His dark and lean appearance suggested that he was someone who spent a lot of time in the rural areas.
As mayor, he wasn’t required to perform manual labor out in the fields. He could sit in his office, just like people in the city. However, as Qi Li Town was an agricultural town, the mayor needed to visit the fields during planting and harvest seasons to understand the planting situation.
A negligent or corrupt mayor might not do this, but the man before her clearly wasn’t one of those.
It’s no wonder Dad had nothing but praise for the mayor after returning home.
Nan Fei’s confidence about today’s negotiations increased. Establishing her family’s first factory in Qi Li Town was a significant contribution to the development of her hometown.
“Knock knock!” She gently rapped on the door.
“Come in!” Mayor Hou Dahai looked up to see a young schoolgirl in uniform. “Student, do you need something?”
The mayor stood up to ask.
“Please sit, please.” Nan Fei quickly gestured.
Hou Dahai couldn’t help but chuckle, finding this young girl to be quite amusing. She came to his office and took the role of host, inviting him to sit. He decided to play along and sat back down.
As soon as he sat down, Nan Fei also took a seat across the table from him.
You can’t stand while discussing matters! Moreover, what she had to say was not something that could be conveyed in a few words.
“Hello, Mayor, I am Jiang Dechun’s daughter, my name is Jiang Nanfei.” She began by introducing herself.
“Young lady, I know your father. What brings you here?” Hou Dahai was a man of action who didn’t appreciate beating around the bush.
“I came to discuss purchasing land with you. ”
“You? Discussing land purchase with me?” Hou Dahai joked, “Are you the one in charge of your household?” He had thought Jiang Dechun was quite a believable person.
He had vision and courage; perhaps he really could start the food processing plant. But now, he doubted his initial impression.
Absurd!
Having a schoolgirl negotiate land purchasing!
This was utterly ridiculous.
“Yes, it’s me.” Nan Fei said with an exceptional seriousness, no indication of jesting visible on her beautiful face.
Hou Dahai couldn’t help but stop joking and uncertainly asked, “Your father had already discussed with me. What do you want to talk about? Do you not plan on buying it anymore, or do you think three acres of land is too much?”
He guessed it was the latter, as running a factory required a lot of money. Buying three acres of land in one go was indeed burdensome for rural people who earned money through hard labor.
