Back To The 90s: The Resilient Daughter-In-Law -
Chapter 373 - Chapter 373 Chapter 373 I Like It Very Much_1
Chapter 373: Chapter 373: I Like It Very Much_1 Chapter 373: Chapter 373: I Like It Very Much_1 Nan Fei’s fist tightens quietly, then slowly loosens. She tucks away the sharpness in her eyes to objectively evaluate the situation as calmly as possible.
Zhuanzhuan shrinks back and looks at the village chief, “Chief, I’m scared, I fear I might be silenced too. I’m a coward, I panicked and I just can’t dare to do it.”
Nan Fei lets out a sigh subconsciously. She abruptly realizes her deep-rooted thoughts and can’t help blaming herself.
The reason is very straightforward and real. If you put yourself in their shoes, anyone would be scared!
It’s murder!
Who won’t be afraid!
Even an adult might not have the courage to confess, let alone a child, and a girl at that, who is more timid.
“Zhuanzhuan, you did the right thing! Go home and eat dinner! It’s past mealtime, you must be hungry.”
“Thank you, Chief!”
“Go on!”
As the family of three walks home, Zhuanzhuan says in self-blame, “Dad, sis, did I embarrass our family?”
“No! Don’t talk nonsense.” Jiang Dechun chastises, “You’re a good and honest child, it’s perfectly normal. It’s already brave of you to speak up.”
Nan Fei says self-mockingly, “If anyone were to embarrass our family, it should be me, right?”
“You definitely didn’t!”
“Anyways, you’re much better than me! You even snuck an advance and still managed to come first in the entire grade, whereas I’m 208th.”
When Nan Fei compliments her, Zhuanzhuan blushes, “Sis, I’ll continue to work hard and strive for us both to take the college entrance exam together.”
“That sounds good!” For the first time this evening, Nan Fei breaks into a smile, “Let’s bring honor to our family.”
Zhuanzhuan rubs her hands nervously, “I can’t earn money or help mom and dad, so I can only work hard and try for a good university.”
“You’ve already helped us so much, why isn’t that enough!” Jiang Dechun is the first one to object.
As the three of them walk and talk, the sky has darkened entirely. Nan Fei lags a bit behind, gazing upwards at the night sky. The weather is bad tonight; not a single star can be spotted in the sky. The rural roads are dark without street lights, and one can barely see their own hand before their eyes.
The only way to barely see the road is by relying on the light from a flashlight.
As she walks, her mind begins to drift. At this time in her past life, she wasn’t in the hospital, so she didn’t meet Sun Lu, and none of today’s events had happened. Perhaps her rebirth changed many things.
The course of fate changes, and many things change along with it.
She doesn’t know if Sun Lu’s death has anything to do with her rebirth.
It weighs down her mood.

Nan Fei couldn’t eat dinner. After brushing up and changing into the pajamas Chen Cuihua gave her, she lay on the bed with her eyes wide open, staring at the ceiling in a daze.
Zhuanzhuan was leaning over her desk doing homework, as she was accustomed to finishing her work first thing in the holiday.
Nan Fei was surprised to see her able to concentrate considering today’s events.
“Sis, you go to sleep first. I will finish my homework.”
“Okay,” Nan Fei responded, but she couldn’t fall asleep. Suddenly, she felt something uncomfortable under her pillow. It was the medal that Huo Beijiang gave her.
As if being possessed, she took the box out from under the pillow. Opening the box, the medal glistened under the bright white light.
It looked like some military medal. The red lined design was clear and eye-catching, but the four words carved into it made her cheeks blush and her heart pound uncontrollably. She couldn’t help but wonder what Huo Beijiang was doing now?
Nan Fei slowly clutched the medal in her hand, it seemed like it still held his warm temperature.
So hot, so warm.
In her former life, she always got angry whenever she saw Huo Beijiang, and this life was no different. But the reasons behind her anger were completely different.
Before, it was rejection!
Now it’s more complicated: shyness, unease, and a heart out of control.
So this is what it’s like to have feelings for someone.
You’re not even aware of it, yet you start missing them. By the time you realize you miss them, you’re already head over heels, liking them very much.
PS: After reading your comments and guesses, some of you were quite spot-on about Zhuanzhuan! You all are really talented. From here on, I will call you Sherlock – Fairy – Conan.
But this story is a sweet and pampering one about gaining the upper hand. Don’t worry! I won’t write anything too distressing, at most I’ll just add a little bit of glass slag in the sweet treats, haha…
