Cheng Su hugged the quilt as she sat on the bed, peeking out the window beside her at the world outside, wrapped in silvery white. She felt bewildered. Last night, she had another bad dream, dreaming that Qi Taiguo’s mission was not going smoothly, and envisioning herself, distressed and distraught.

As if to verify the reality of her dream, even before she left her house early in the morning, Ying Xiaoya came looking for her.

"Susu, it’s bad news, something’s happened!"

Cheng Suxin panicked, her hand on her chest, "What’s wrong?"

"Our Joy Soon Loy Jam has been reported," Ying Xiaoya said urgently.

Cheng Su’s eyes widened: "Reported? What’s going on?"

"They say our jam is substandard in quality, with customers finding the product spoiled after purchase, and discovering little black bugs inside. Now, it’s been complained about to the food safety and hygiene department, accusing us of selling inferior products that endanger consumers," Ying Xiaoya explained in panic.

"How is that possible?" Cheng Su exclaimed incredulously. "Our jam places the utmost emphasis on food hygiene; all ingredients we use are fresh, and the preservation methods are very strict. How could it possibly go bad and have bugs?"

The image of a jar of jam crawling with little black bugs made Cheng Su’s skin crawl, goosebumps rising all over her body.

"I can’t understand it either, but that’s the fact. Not only that, the customer even approached a journalist from Qing City News Agency to publish an article about the issue," Ying Xiaoya said urgently. "The president of the Qing City News Agency and my dad are somewhat acquainted. They had come to our company’s opening before, and they mentioned this matter to my dad. He managed to have them hold off on publishing the story!"

It even got to the news agency!

Cheng Su clenched her fists, immediately calming down.

The complaint had been filed with the health department and had been reported to the news agency—this was clearly an attempt to disgrace Joy Soon Loy. If word of this got out, all their previous efforts would have been in vain!

Cheng Su wondered if this was the same incident as the Buddha Jumps Over the Wall order that Joy Soon Loy Restaurant had taken. Could they have been subjected to jealousy and envy?

"Are you sure it’s our product?" Cheng Su asked.

Ying Xiaoya shook her head: "I’m not quite sure. I just heard about it from my dad and came right over to discuss it with you."

Cheng Su paced back and forth, asking, "What will the health department do when they receive a complaint? Will they come to inspect the company?"

"I think they probably will," said Ying Xiaoya.

"Then, go and find out where the customer bought the jam and have all the jam from that place temporarily taken off the shelves. Also, bring me back two jars of the jam. And yes, you need to ask which distribution point it was, who was responsible for our company’s order there, who signed for it, when the goods were delivered, how much was sold, and to whom. Make sure to ask about everything in detail," Cheng Su instructed.

Ying Xiaoya nodded, taking note.

"I’ll go back to the company to handle it right away, and as soon as you find out anything, call me so I can follow up with Zhu Lifen," Cheng Su said. "Oh, and there’s another thing I need to trouble you with!"

"Tell me!"

"Please speak to Uncle Ying and ask him to try his best to suppress this kind of news. If it really has to be published..." Cheng Su gritted her teeth, "if we really have no choice, then issue a statement saying that this batch of products lacked a step in the preservation process, and now we need to urgently recall it."

Ying Xiaoya solemnly nodded.
