Awakening to a Special-Grade Explorer -
Vol. 4 - Ch. 169 - The Two Shining Star of Battlefield
"Summon---Flame Demon Blade."
A blade, clad in a fiercely burning crimson flames, appeared in Tenji's hand in the same tempo as he intoned. He set up the blade in front of him at mid-section---as taught by Chisato---and pressed on the pack of underling before his eyes.
From the sideline, Fuyuki, who was running beside him, abruptly asked his voice in confirmation of something.
"You do remember the battle style when fighting unknown, superior monsters, right, Tenji?"
"There's no way I would forget what you taught me!"
"That must be saved at all costs! It's yet too soon to open up all the cards."
"Got it!"
The two confirmed each other's thoughts and then separately breached the underling's group. The two had grown to the extent that they would have to control their firepower were they to attack the same group together---or to say, so that the other doesn't get caught up in friendly fire---which was a monumental task at their current power level.
Their presence and action naturally gathered some of the underling's gazes.
"Ruuuuuuu" "Ruuuuuuu" "Ruuuuuuu"
The underlings raised in an incomprehensible war cry before taking a swing of their sharp threatening aura at them. The distance should have been around 20 metres---something that was still good seconds away. At Least for normal humans, it was.
Tenji made the first move.
"<Slashing Bond>!"
Fwoosh, the eerily burning flames of Tenji's sword flared up suddenly, signifying the rise in offensive attribute, as Tenji swung his sword in sweeping motion unhurriedly.
"Ruuu!?" "Riiiiii" "Ruuuuuu!?!??"
It all happened in an instant---in the time frame that suppressed even the blinking speed of a human.
A crackling sound, as if something was burnt, arose from almost all the underlings, saving a few. Immediately after, they rolled down on the group in apparent loss of strength that put a break over the pack's march.
A single sweep of his word---attack enhanced by the skill accompanying Flame Demon Sword decimated the underling's frontline in a blink of an eye. Fukuyama at the very back had been keeping an eye on the situation here and that took him by surprise as well.
"I...amn't hallucinating, right? A single attack?"
As a frequent rearguard member, he had watched upon great many battle scenes and it took him just a flash to notice the abnormality. He realised the peculiarity of few people---if anything, just a handful he could count on one hand---among all the explorers he could confirm in his field of vision, even including guild Chariot, who were given the responsibility to look after northwest and northeast. They alone would be able to clear things up.
A single attack of them---Kirie Kujou, Honnou Itagaki, Fuyuki Kurou and Tenji Amagi---would be enough to decimate the flocks of atrocious monsters called underlings squirming in front of his eyes.
It was so strange, so out of his 'knowledge' even though he was supposed to know all along that it unconsciously caused him to chuckle from deep within her heart.
"Ahahaha......you all are truly an abnormal bunch."
Tenji perhaps had no way of knowing Fukuyama's words, yet as if he had heard him, made his next move. He shouted at his Book of Enma to further overpower the underlings he already was pressing down on with his Flame Demon Sword, intensely burning with reddish-black flames.
"Summon, Flame Demon's Twin Dagger." (T/N - It was originally 'anti-sword' but that was me mistaking the word here. It was apparently meant to be twin/dual. Also Changed sword to the dagger---no, it certainly read as a sword but I changed it to reflect the correct shape the author has described below.)
Two reddish-black daggers appeared by his side gently floating in the air matching his shout. He swiftly activated 'Roaring Flame’ skill and took them under his control. He was basically operating them without touching them.
"Yay, sounds like I can pull it off today. Alright, let's go."
It was still a technique---albeit still lacking, taught directly by Chisato---that he had yet to get the proper hang of. But he was sure it could help him out in increasing his firepower as long as he controlled them properly. There were days where when everything sits right, he would be able to use it like they were an extension of his body, much like the second or third pair of limbs. But in the days he couldn't properly get a hang of it, it became useless even for as much as a simple swing.
Well, considering the current situation, one's good luck was a calamity for the opponent huh? This skill was bound to become the singularity of this battlefield for him.
'Oh, Fuyuki is just much in overdrive mode today huh. I can't fall behind,' Tenji murmured as he took a glance at Fuyuki's way.
Like an invincible god of war, the sight of Fuyuki ripping apart any and all underlings that his dragon's claw swiped propelled Tenji to further up his game. He actually didn't care for the war merit, subjugation count or the display of valour.
Though, he had but one worry. The main monster---a thousand times more powerful than the small fries in front of him---that President Limey was currently grappling with. The monster's white eyes had been lingering in his mind since he had heard and saw them. Those white eyes were raising a bad premonition in his heart.
'Pray it turned out to be nothing more than a rookie getting ahead of himself' were his thoughts as that vague yet definitive hunch was smouldering within his heart.
"Get a grip, me. I can worry about others after finishing my work here. It's a battle I must fight---and won!"
Tenji once again lunged at the underlings with his Flame Demon Sword, while freely manipulating the pair of two daggers that shuttled through the air of the battlefield and tore or sliced through the vital spots of them. The Tenji of the current hour undoubtedly matched the merciless, cold-hearted avenger like fiendish persona that he had taken that day.
