Awakening The Only SSS-Rank Class! Now Even Dragons Obey Me -
Chapter 145: Home After A Month
"What do we do now?" They were sitting by the table, eating breakfast with the lady of the house.
The atmosphere was fragile and quiet. None of them said a word, their heads lowered, until Alice finally broke the silence.
"I don't know. We can only hope the court rules in our favor," said Liana with a slight headache.
She couldn't even remember the last time she had gone to court. Had she ever been to one? Back when her husband was around, he was always the one handling things like that.
"I'm sorry. All of this is my fault," Tiana said with guilt and shame, seeing how much pressure was on the other two.
If she had never come here to begin with, none of these problems would have happened. Now, on top of her own misery, she had dragged an entire family into it.
"Sweetheart, you don't need to worry. I told you, you're like a daughter to me," Liana turned to Tiana and said with a smile.
Tiana nodded, eyes shining with emotion. She had never known what it was like to be loved or have a real family.
But ever since she arrived here last month, everything changed. Not only did she learn what it meant to be loved, but now she also knew how wonderful it felt to have a real family.
She hoped these days would never end...
"If that bastard was here right now—" Alice grumbled. With her brother around, she didn't need to use her brain cells.
She could just dump all the responsibility on him and enjoy herself. But for the past month, everything had fallen on her and, more specifically, on their mother.
Life had become exhausting and frustrating.
"If he dares to show up again, this time I'll teach him a lesson! It's been a whole month since he left," Liana growled, though deep down, she was very upset.
Her son's behavior was starting to resemble her husband's more and more.
Back then, her husband also used to not come home for a day or two at first. Then it became weeks. Then months.
And in the end… he never came back. Could the same thing happen to her son? The thought alone brought tears to her eyes.
"Mom, are you okay?"
"Auntie, what's wrong?"
Seeing tears form in Liana's eyes, Alice and Tiana immediately grew concerned.
"It's nothing… I'm just worried about him."
"Ugh, mom, there's no need to worry. For Awakened who've just come back from the Celestial Domain, it's normal not to return for months," Alice tried to comfort her mother.
"Got room for one more at breakfast?" Just as they were drowning in their own worries, a man's voice pulled them out of it.
"Huh?" The voice was very familiar. It was the one Liana and Alice wanted to hear more than anything else at that moment.
All three of them turned around and saw Daniel standing behind them.
"You! Since when have you been here?" Alice asked in disbelief.
"Just got back," Daniel shrugged.
"Uhh… is everything okay?" He frowned, noticing how both Alice and Liana were glaring at him like they wanted to murder him.
Why were they looking at him like that? Did he do something?
"Calm down, damn it—" Suddenly, Liana picked up her slipper from the floor and threw it at him.
Daniel dodged, but his sister jumped on him and started biting him.
"What are you, a dog? Why are you biting me?" Daniel couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry. Her bites didn't hurt at all, but her behavior was just like a puppy's.
"Do you know how worried we were for a whole month?!" Liana stood in front of her son, her face filled with concern.
Alice got off Daniel's back and stood beside her mother, staring at him. Daniel didn't say anything. He just pulled both of them into a hug.
In moments like this, a hug says more than a thousand words. The two hugged him back.
In the corner, Tiana stood and watched them with a smile. She wondered when she could be part of their family hug, too.
Minutes passed quietly, and Daniel finally managed to calm them down. After that, he walked over to the table and sat in one of the empty chairs.
"Anyway, bro… what's with your eyes?" Alice looked at her brother and asked.
"Do they look scary?" Daniel smirked.
"They're actually beautiful… but scary, too. It's like you're not human anymore," she said, making Daniel go silent.
Honestly, he couldn't really be considered human anymore. But when it came to his eyes, the situation was even worse. When he had looked at them in his room, he was sure—they had truly turned him into a demon.
Unfortunately, there was no way to turn them back.
"Also, it felt like you got taller. Not just a bit. It was definitely noticeable."
"Yeah. A few things happened in the Celestial Domain," Daniel didn't want to tell them anything yet, so he left it there.
His mother placed a breakfast plate in front of him.
"Alright, now it's your turn. Tell me—what happened while I was gone?"
The three women exchanged looks, and then Liana started explaining what had gone down during his absence.
"Those bastards…" As he heard his mother's words, for a moment, a terrifying killing intent leaked from him, though he managed to control it.
Turns out, only one major thing had happened while he was away: Tiana's parents had come looking for her.
They had tried to take her away by force, but Liana had stopped them. Tiana's mother had even slapped Daniel's mother, and a small fight broke out.
Fortunately, Azrak and Pride appeared at that moment and beat both Tiana's father and mother enough to make them stop.
Apparently, his mother, sister, and Tiana had all been terrified when they saw the two men, but Pride explained that they were Daniel's subordinates.
This led Liana to scold him for not telling them anything about those two before.
In the end, Tiana's parents filed a complaint, and the police arrested both his mother and sister. The Fallen tried to interfere, but Liana told them not to do anything.
She didn't want them getting into trouble with the police. Thankfully, August found out what happened and helped them get out of jail.
As for Tiana, a small court session had taken place. At her request, the court decided she would stay with Liana for now for the next two weeks.
But another session would be held two weeks later, after the academy's final exams, to officially decide who would get custody of Tiana.
"What do we do now?"
