Awakening of the Scheming Wife
Chapter 57: Love? Don’t know!

Chapter 57: Love? Don’t know!

All his frustrations from his previous life and this life came out all at once.

He tried. He really did.

Everyone called him a failure as a husband.

He agreed to it.

Everyone called him stupid.

He agreed to it as well.

He tried to change it.

He tried to understand his wife and also tried to be smart.

But what happened in the end?

He even got the power to listen to his wife’s thoughts.

Even such a great power couldn’t help him.

Even listening to his wife’s inner voices couldn’t help him understand his wife’s actions.

If he is not a loser, then who is?

Since he couldn’t be a good husband anyway, he decided not to be her husband at all.

And yet he faced failure once again.

What exactly should he do?

Whatever he does, he fails. Now he doesn’t know what to do at all.

Helena looked at his defeated expression and frowned.

She was stunned by his outburst, but she did not understand his thoughts at all.

She did not say anything. She doesn’t want to console him or scold him at the moment.

After a long time, she sighed, "Vernon. I think we should calm ourselves for a while. You go back. I want to see the city for a while.

"Also, can you please tell everyone that I won’t join them for the dinner? You can use whatever excuse you can. Let’s take this time to calm ourselves, and then we can have a good talk with each other."

Vernon frowned, but he thought she was right. So, he nodded.

"I want to stay here for a while longer. So, please leave," Helena told him. "Also, please don’t tell my father about this."

Vernon looked at the cemetery and then at Helena. He nodded and left.

Once Vernon’s back was completely out of her sight, Helena sighed. She found a random bench and sat on it.

She just gave her mother’s urn to the cemetery. They need more time to take care of her. So, Helena did not have a place to actually go to so that she could talk to her mother.

But still, since she knew that her mother was inside right now, she felt she was nearer.

So she decided to sit there and think.

She could feel the strong breeze grazing her face. She suddenly felt cold on her cheeks.

She raised her hand to touch her cheeks and realized there were tears, and they turned cold because of the cold breeze.

She did not know she was crying until she saw the tears on her fingers. She was stunned.

"Why exactly am I crying right now?" She chuckled to herself and asked.

"If you don’t know why you are crying, it is better to not find the answer. It is even better to forget about all your problems." She heard a voice from the side, startling her bad.

"Ahh!!" She screamed in fear. When she saw that there was actually a man sitting on the bench beside her, she was stunned.

She patted her chest, "Who are you, and when did you sit here?"

"Ha ha ha," The man started to laugh at her. "I am sorry. I didn’t mean to laugh, but the way you just screamed... It was very funny. I couldn’t help myself."

"..." Helena was dumbfounded. No matter how she looked at it, she didn’t think that her present situation was funny.

"So, who was the man who left earlier?" The man stopped laughing and asked her. He did not answer her question at all.

Helena blinked her eyes and replied, "My husband."

"Oh? You are married already? You look so young. How old are you? Eighteen?" The man looked surprised as he looked at Helena from top to bottom and asked.

If someone asked a woman such a question, the woman would want to slap the man.

But Helena did not know why but she couldn’t feel angry at this man. The way he looked at her wasn’t creepy or disgusting at all. He looked genuinely curious.

Helena shook her head, "I am twenty-two."

"Hmm, young indeed. Why did you marry so young? Do you love him so much?" He asked her.

Helena blinked her eyes. She tilted her head to the side in confusion, "Love?"

"Yes, love. Do you love your husband so much?" He asked again.

Helena could simply nod and let the topic end here.

But for some reason, she couldn’t lie to the man in front of her at all.

She subconsciously shook her head, "I don’t know."

"You don’t know?" The man frowned. "Then why did you marry him?"

Helena shrugged, "We were engaged by our parents when we were kids. Once we were old enough, they got us married. I never thought much about anything else."

The man looked surprised as he opened his mouth wide, "Wow. Do arranged marriages still exist in this present world?"

Helena looked at his exaggerated expression and laughed out loud.

The man was stunned. He blinked his eyes. Helena’s eyes were still covered in tears from earlier. But her laugh was cheerful. It was so genuine that one couldn’t help but feel warm when they looked at that smile.

Helena answered, "I don’t know about the entire world but they sure exist in wealthy families."

"Oh? So you are wealthy?"

Helena shook her head.

"Hmm?"

"I am not wealthy. My dad is," Helena answered sincerely.

"How can you say such words in front of a stranger just like that? Aren’t you worried that I will kidnap you and ask your parents for money after hearing your words?" The man asked her with his eyebrows raised.

Helena looked at him for a second and chuckled softly.

"Why are you laughing?" The man asked in confusion.

"Well, there are two reasons." She replied.

"Two reasons? What are they?"

"First reason," She raised her index finger and continued, "You don’t seem like the person who could do such a thing."
