Awakening of the Scheming Wife -
Chapter 36: Patient? No!
Chapter 36: Patient? No!
"But I couldn’t book the place I wanted as there was a long waiting list. I think we will have to wait for at least a month.
"I thought of this place a long time ago. I don’t want to go to another place. So, I can only wait for longer."
She even pouted her lips to show her disappointment in this matter.
Mother Jeffery felt bad for the child and pampered her, "Oh. My Helena wanted a place, but she couldn’t? How is that possible? Tell me the place and I will make sure you get into it immediately."
Helena froze for a second before she shook her head, "I tried using our names but it was of no use. I can only wait."
Mother Jeffery understood and nodded, "If that is the case, I think we can’t do anything about it. Otherwise, how about this? Go on a short vacation for a couple of days now. Then a month later, you can go on the long trip to the place you wanted."
The older woman gave a good suggestion, thinking for both her children.
Helena acted coy and shook her head while even holding Mother jeffery’s hand and shaking it like a child, "No, no. I want our first ever trip to be perfect. I don’t want anything less. Please mother."
"Fine, fine. Whatever Helena wants, she will get it. If Vernon says anything otherwise, tell me and I will spank him," As expected, Mother Jeffery continued to pamper Helena like her own child.
At that time, Vernon even looked at his mother in grievance and pouted, "Mom, I am your real son, you know?"
"Yes, yes. I know. That is why I was always sad. Why are you my son? How I wish you were my daughter instead! Now, it’s good. I got my own daughter." Saying that, Mother Jeffery held Helena’s hand and caressed it gently.
Helena stuck her tongue out at Vernon and intimately held Mother Jeffery’s arm.
At that time, Vernon thought nothing. He was used to it. His mother always wanted a daughter. So, since they were young, she pampered Helena more compared to him, her own son.
Since they were married, that would only level up, and he had expected that to happen beforehand.
How could he even have an idea about Helena’s struggles when she acted like everything was normal?
In the present, he continued eating. From the corner of his eyes, he looked at Helena from time to time.
He would be reminded of his previous life subconsciously whenever he looked at her.
It is not that he wanted to know what happened and what went wrong then. He wanted not to care anymore.
At the end of the day, he was betrayed by his wife and was even schemed against by her. So, all he wanted to do now was to keep his distance from her and to divorce her when possible.
But when the past and present relapses in the front of his eyes, his thoughts couldn’t help but mess up.
He took a deep breath. No. He shouldn’t think about the past anymore. He should just keep up with his original plan. He had to divorce her as soon as possible.
It is just that he liked Mother Ford as well. Since her last wish had yet to be fulfilled, he will help Helena until it is done.
Once this matter was done, he would sit with Helena and have an open conversation.
Until then, he had to stay calm and shouldn’t let Helena change his mind.
(Brother, my future now lies in your hands. Find out about Helena’s mother as soon as possible so I can get it over with.)
He prayed in his heart very sincerely.
Maybe his prayers worked because of his sincerity, it did not take too long to get a call from Vincent.
Vernon and Helena were in their room when Vincent called Vernon.
The phone was on speaker, and they listened to Vincent’s voice together.
"I looked into the matter. I found a few clues. I do not have all the information yet, but I am sure about one thing."
"What is it, Brother Vincent?" Helena asked him.
"Your mother wasn’t searching for a patient," Vincent replied.
Vernon and Helena frowned as they looked at each other.
Vernon asked, "How can you be sure about that?"
"She did not just look around the hospitals. She was actually in contact with a police officer as well. He wasn’t some normal officer either. He was the police commissioner. They seemed to be good friends. If she was searching for a patient, her connection with the police looks a bit weird. She actually asked the help from the police to look through the DNA database for someone. So, that concluded that she wasn’t looking for a patient but for the database in different hospitals. That was why, I am sure," Vincent gave a long and clear explanation, without missing any detail.
"So, you don’t have to worry about missing the treatment time of any person. You can relax a little," Vincent said these words specifically to Helena.
He knows that Helena was worried that if she was late, the person might lose the best treatment time and might suffer. So, he wanted to comfort her as soon as possible.
Helena frowned. She was in deep thought as the information that Vincent gave her was large.
She never knew that her mother knew the police commissioner.
Also, she was searching for someone through the DNA database?
Who was she searching for? Why was she using DNA to search for that person?
She had many questions, but she couldn’t ask her mother right now. So she had to find them all by herself.
Seeing that she wasn’t responding to his brother, Vernon nudged her a little.
Helena looked at him and then at the phone in his hand. "Thank you, Brother Vincent, for everything. I understand now. I will look into the matter from here. You can relax as well."
Vernon frowned. He wanted to ask her why and how she could find the details of that person without Vincent’s help, but before he could say a word, he heard Vincent’s reply, "Okay. You can look into it yourself. If you need something from me, you don’t have to feel hesitant and can directly ask me."
Helena smiled, "I know, Brother Vincent. I will definitely come to you for help when I need it. Thank you once again."
The phone was hung up without letting Vernon interfere in the entire conversation at all.
Vernon put the phone aside and looked at Helena. "Who do you think she was searching for? Do you have any missing family members?"
Since she was searching through the DNA database, the person should most probably be related to Helena’s mother by blood.
Helena shook her head, "I don’t know of any such person."
Vernon thought for a second and asked again, "Do you want to ask your Father about it? He might have an idea, right?"
Helena shook her head firmly without any delay, "No."
Vernon frowned and asked, "Why?"
"He didn’t know of this matter previously. It meant my mother did not want to tell him. So, before I find out what it was, I don’t want to tell him either. There might be a reason for her to hide it from him, right?" Helena explained to him slowly.
Vernon thought for a while and slowly nodded as he felt that she had a point. "You are right. It is better not to talk about it to him yet. Then what are you planning to do? We have to know who she was searching for so that we can continue the search, right?"
Helena nodded, "Yes. We do have a clue now, though. Brother Vincent helped us greatly this time."
"Huh? We have a clue? What is that? What did my brother say?" he felt dumb for not understanding the point that his wife noticed.
Helena smiled and looked at him, "Brother Vincent said that my mother was in contact with the police commissioner the whole time, right? So, if we meet him, I am sure we will find some information."
"Oh, yeah. You are right. My brother did talk about him. I completely forgot. Once we talk to the commissioner, we will know the complete story," Vernon grinned happily, showing his canine teeth and cute dimples.
[Ahh!! He is so cute. What should I do? I want to pinch his cheeks. I want to poke his dimples. I also want to kiss them. But I am sure now is not the time, right? Sigh! Wahh!! So cute! So cute! So cute! So cute! ]
She repeated the same words multiple times like a broken record. Vernon was speechless from her thoughts.
He knew she could talk so much, but her inner thoughts were more noisier compared to her real self.
He flushed in embarrassment.
