Chapter 109: Helena is flirting? No!

(What is this man talking to my wife? How dare he? I knew he was a pervert but this is too much. He was speaking such words in the middle of so many people.)

Vernon’s veins popped up in anger as he very badly wanted to throw a punch at the man.

[Ew. Ew. Eww. Ew. Ew. Ew. I want to puke.]

Helena repeated in her heart many times and Vernon’s anger vanished just like that. His cold features instantly turned soft, listening to her voice.

"Great! Thank you for the offer. How about we meet later so that I can take that offer?" Helena spoke completely different words from her thoughts and Vernon was once again speechless.

(What is she doing? Did she go crazy? When she is so disgusted by him, why is she trying to flirt with him?) Vernon was genuinely concerned for her mental health as he even thought that she had gone crazy.

She did not think that she liked the Prince. Not even for a second. But he did not understand her intentions either.

"Sure." The Seventh prince nodded. Then he spoke a few casual words and left.

[Thank God. That man finally lost that weird glimmer in his eyes. He definitely lost his interest in me.]

Vernon heard her thoughts again and frowned.

He racked his brain, thinking about her thoughts and her actions. Then he recalled Merlin’s advice to her earlier.

He seemed to understand what she was doing all along.

Since the Prince was interested in her, she had to take action. If she ignored him, he would definitely take it as a game and a challenge and plan something.

Instead, if she tried to flirt with him, then he would think that she is one like many other women who throw themselves at him for his money and status and lose interest in her.

Just a few sleazy lines and Helena successfully got rid of a huge disaster.

With this new found enlightenment, Vernon’s eyes shone brightly. He wanted to applaud her and give her an award for her brain power.

Before he could say something, Helena turned around and looked at him.

When she saw him, she did not show a look of guilt, for getting caught by her husband after flirting with another man.

After all, despite her thoughts, it was true that she flirted with a man while being a married woman.

Instead of guilt, she looked at him and raised an eyebrow. Her eyes looked at him suggestively like she just caught him doing something bad and not the other way round.

"..." Vernon was speechless. Why did she act like he was cheating on her when it was her who flirted with other men?

(What?) He asked her with his eyes.

Helena looked at him for a few seconds and crossed her arms as she shrugged her shoulders.

"..." (What?) He asked again.

Helena shrugged once again. A small smile was dangling at the corner of her lips. It looked like she was teasing him. But why?

He blinked his eyes.

Helena looked at his clueless expression and sighed. It is no fun at all.

She released her crossed arms and walked towards him. They were at most a couple of steps away anyway.

"Miss Pearl. You look beautiful tonight," Helena greeted pearl.

"..." Vernon had completely forgotten that Pearl was still standing by his side and they were even having a conversation.

His entire concentration was on Helena and the Prince that he forgot about Pearl. He had no idea what Pearl talked to him about.

"Lady Boss. Thank you so much. But I am nowhere as beautiful as you," Pearl smiled and spoke politely.

Her professional attitude was evident with each and every minute action of hers.

Helena smiled back politely as well and thanked her.

[Damn it! One fake after another! I can’t handle all this nonsense. I need some genuine feelings on the surface. Where did Faye go?]

"..." Vernon was speechless for the umpteenth time by her. (She would rather have a verbal fight with Faye compared to greeting the polite Pearl? What is wrong with her?)

"What are you guys talking about?" Helena asked casually.

"Oh. I am sorry, Lady Boss. I did not think of keeping Boss with me. I just need to talk about something to him urgently. I am sorry if you were waiting for Boss," Pearl said, looking awfully sorry.

Vernon looked at her. Her words seem a bit weird, right?

[Oh my goodness! As expected. This woman! Sigh! Why am I being dragged into such a mess now?]

"Oh, it’s fine. It is not like I am expecting him or something. With so many guests, how could we stay together all the time? He was busy greeting all his friends and I was the same as well." Helena smiled and answered as if she did not notice anything.

Once again, her thoughts and her expressions were completely different.

Vernon blinked his eyes. He never thought that the Young Helena is capable of hiding her thoughts so well. If he did not hear her innervoice, he would have thought that she was having a very friendly conversation with Pearl.

"Oh. I saw The seventh prince and you were talking earlier. Were you two good friends? I heard that it wasn’t easy to befriend him at all," Pearl asked with a smile.

On the surface, her question sounded very natural and innocent.

But the ones in the know know that it wasn’t innocent at all.

She was reminding Vernon of the conversation Helena had with the Prince earlier.

He was sure that most of their conversation wasn’t heard by Pearl but since she was right beside him, a few words might have entered her ears as well. So, she knows the gist of their conversation.

So she was ’reminding’ him that his wife was ’cheating’ on him? She was also pointing her finger at Helena for her actions.

Helena raised an eyebrow. [Oh? Interesting!]
