Chapter 52: Claw and Blood

THUD!

Lyra lay on the cold floor. Not once, not twice, but five times—back to back, all within five minutes.

And it wasn’t because he has some erectile dysfunction that caused him premature ejaculation.

No, the truth was far more unbelievable.

He thrust his cock ten times the speed of a normal person.

Each slide created so much friction it wounded her internally, forcing her body to heal on the spot or risk further bleeding.

He kept pouring semen into her, like his cock was a pump drawing from an endless source.

The result was a messy blend of red and white staining the floor.

’That was dangerous,’ Neo breath heavily, he was now back in his human form.

He couldn’t believe what he had done.

Back then, his primal instinct took over, pushing him to do something he normally wouldn’t even consider.

’I need to be careful. If it had been any other girl, I would’ve torn them apart,’

This wasn’t some figure of speech, and he wasn’t exaggerating.

If anything, he was holding back the truth.

Forget being ripped apart—anyone else would’ve burst from the inside out with the force behind each thrust.

’No wonder that green guy avoids women. Great, now I’ve got the same problem as some fictional superhero.’

He turned his attention to Lyra, now sleeping soundly. She didn’t even seem to mind that she was lying on a wet surface.

’Weird, I don’t smell it anymore,’

The overpowering scent that had driven him to lose control had vanished.

He leaned closer to her soft thighs, double-checking, but there was nothing.

’So, it was the pheromones,’ he concluded, piecing things together.

’After she’s satisfied, the scent she released must’ve retracted—just like in animals.’

That was the best conclusion he could come up with. The more disturbing possibility, though, was that he ended up knocking her up.

’Wait... if that’s the case, it means I only reacted that way because of her. So, I won’t be like that with other women!’

’This is good news,’ he nodded in satisfaction

It would’ve been a problem if he turned into a killing machine every time he saw a woman.

Of course, everything was just a hypothesis, but at least there was hope.

With that in mind, he decided to carry Lyra to another room and clean her up.

Then, he lay down on an empty bed and closed his eyes.

He wasn’t worried about anyone entering this facility.

Between the two of them, they had more than enough power to take down any soldiers. Resting here for a while wouldn’t be a problem.

As he drifted into a deeper sleep, a frown tugged at his face.

Though he hid his trauma behind humor, he was far from healed.

Tears started flowing, unnoticed by him. Anyone who could see him would feel the weight of his loneliness.

They broke him, and no amount of power could return him to who he was before.

TICK!

TICK!

TICK!

"Honey, are you really sure this is safe?"

He opened his eyes at the sound of a familiar voice.

’Mom?’ Neo muttered, but he couldn’t move.

When he looked around, he realized he was inside some kind of prison.

However—

The ceiling was open, and the bars were made of wood.

"Where am I?" He raised his hand, only to be shocked at the sight of small baby hands.

Then it hit him—he was inside a crib.

"Look, you woke Neo up with all the noise," the sweet voice of his mom echoed.

Slowly, her face appeared. It looked huge from his point of view, but he was sure it was her.

"Did Daddy disturb my little baby?" she cooed, gently lifting his small body and carrying him on her shoulder.

That was when his eyes widened at what lay before him—dozens of monitors, displaying data and other information.

His father, who he had always thought was the kindest and most gentle person on the planet, looked visibly stressed as he typed furiously on his keyboard.

"This is bad... This is really bad."

Her mother noticed his distress and tried to comfort him. "We should release this information to the public. What they’re doing with your research is inhumane!"

THUD!

His father slammed his fist on the desk.

"We can’t do that. They control the world. We’ll be killed if we don’t follow them. Do you have any idea how many of my friends they’ve already killed?!"

Neo’s mother instinctively took a step back.

He apologized; his voice softer now "I’m sorry. I’m just stressed out. I don’t want anything to happen to us, to our family—especially with Neo here."

"I know you didn’t mean it, but are you sure they’ll let us go if we give them your research? That thing... you said if they perfected it, they could create a being that could be anything..."

"I..." He paused, removing his glasses and cleaning them with trembling hands.

"Honey... That thing is too dangerous. In the wrong hands, it could lead to countless deaths."

"Don’t worry. They won’t be able to perfect it. There’s material in it they can’t replicate, no matter what. We’re just handing them this research to buy us some time."

"For what?" She raised an eyebrow.

He stood up and turned his gaze toward his son.

Neo was confused. He knew this was a dream, but it felt too vivid.

Before he could process more, a sharp pain shot through his head, and his vision began to fade.

THUD!

He was jolted awake after falling off the bed.

"Fuck, my head hurts!" He held it with both hands, trying to recall the vivid dream he had just experienced. Some of the details, however, was fuzzy.

’Why did I remember my parents? And what were they talking about?’

In his heart, he knew they were talking about something important, but the more he tried to dig deeper, the harder it became.

So, he decided to stop for now.

Neo sat up slowly, his mind racing. The pain in his head was still there, but it was fading, replaced by a lingering confusion.

’Was that a memory or just my mind playing tricks on me?

He closed his eyes and leaned back against the wall, trying to calm his racing thoughts.

His background in psychology helped him understand the mechanics of the mind, but this? This didn’t quite add up.

Dreams, he knew, were the mind’s way of processing memories, emotions, and unresolved thoughts.

They often mixed fragments of reality with imagined scenarios, blending the two until it was hard to tell where one ended and the other began.

But this was different.

’Could it be a repressed memory trying to surface? But as a baby? I don’t think I even have core memories at that age.’

’And even if I did, I’m not some super genius with a photographic memory...’

An idea surfaced.

It wasn’t about having an innate photographic memory. It was his intelligence increasing.

’If that’s the case, then it means I’ll be able to recall more if it keeps rising.’

"AHHHHH!" A yawn echoed from behind him.

Lyra stretched her body, arching like a cat, her limbs extending as she shook off the sleep.

She still looked groggy, and her usual poker face returned.

Not a smile, just a blank stare—like what had happened between them never took place.

Neo didn’t bother calling her out on it. If she didn’t want to talk about it, then so be it.

It would save him the drama and hassle of pretending to be affectionate with her from now on.

Besides, now that she wasn’t secreting those pheromones, he was able to control his urges better.

His attraction for her was still there, but it no longer felt overpowering or unhealthy.

"Let’s get out of here." He extended his hand to her, and they both slipped into their latex suits beneath their lab coats.

The suits could easily be concealed this way, making it the perfect choice for their escape.

Fortunately, his B-card had escaped his black goo, and he was still able to use it to open the smart locks.

They retraced his steps carefully, moving through the facility’s winding halls until they finally reached the exit.

"Stop!" Lyra suddenly raised her hand, her nostrils twitching as she glanced around.

Unlike Neo, who needed to transform to harness the benefits of being part tiger, Lyra’s animal instincts and senses were always active, constantly alert to her surroundings.

This made her the perfect human alarm.

"Is there something wrong?"

She nodded. "I smell a lot of blood... and rotten meats."

Neo transformed his nose and quickly understood what she meant. "So, the town has already been overtaken by zombies."

"I half expected those soldiers to stop it, but I can’t believe it’s already reached this far."

"Should we take them out?" she asked.

"Are you immune to viruses?" he inquired.

She shook her head. "I don’t know,"

"Then we can’t take any chances. The last thing I need is a mutated tiger zombie."
