Chapter 43: Rising Fast.

Chapter 43: Rising Fast.

Tears welled in the younger scientist’s eyes, her lips trembling but no sound came out.

"Choose now. I don’t have time to waste,"

A whishing sound echoed beneath their clothing as their bodies gave in to fear. The warmth spread down their legs, darkening the fabric as the acrid smell filled the air.

Every muscle in their bodies had tensed for so long that when the release came, it was uncontrollable.

The younger scientist let out a choked sob, her breathing ragged. The other clenched her fists, her face burning with humiliation, but neither could do anything to stop it.

There were more pressing matters than embarrassment.

He showed no hesitation, no mercy, not even considering their gender as a reason to spare them.

But why should he? Their actions had been their own choices, and choices came with consequences.

In the face of death, things like gender, status, or excuses held no relevance.

"Pick now," he said, jolting his rifle.

"Please! Sedate us first—and use the red one!" the younger scientist begged.

"What are you doing?!" the other snapped, furious. But before she could say anything, Neo pulled the trigger.

SWOOSH!

SWOOSH!

He fired non-lethal darts from his pistol, hitting both.

Their bodies twitched uncontrollably as they flailed, trying to escape.

"You did this to yourselves. But you’re lucky... you’re women..."

He crouched down, watching them struggle. "Don’t worry. You’ll be asleep when I kill you. That’s the least I can do."

The two women’s eyes widened in horror as his words sank in.

Their bodies twitched uncontrollably from the darts, but panic made them fight against the paralysis.

The older woman tried to speak, her mouth trembling. "W-Wait... please—"

PUEEH.

He spat in her faces, watching as her terrified expressions twisted into helpless despair.

THUD!

Finally, their bodies went limp. Yet, even in sleep, their expressions were twisted eyes slightly open, their last thoughts were of sheer terror.

There wasn’t a single hint of peace on their faces.

’So, this is what it feels like dealing with scums... I can’t even feel anything even if tried my best,’

SWOOSH!

SWOOSH!

Two more darts fired as he made sure that they would be completely unconscious.

He knelt down and pulled out the knife he had taken from the mercenary.

True to his word, he slit their throats as easily as if he were slaughtering chickens.

Blood gushed from the deep cuts, pooling beneath their lifeless bodies. Their final moments were silent, their unconsciousness sparing them from the agony of death.

Neo wiped the blade clean on one of their lab coats before standing up.

’I need to do this. I’ll will kill more people in the future, so I can’t be soft-hearted,’ he muttered, gripping the knife tightly.

Truth be told, though he showed no remorse on the outside, he was still human.

It never got easier. No matter how many times he did it, the weight never fully disappeared. He just need to live with it.

[DING!]

[Reward: Bronze Box]

He raised his head and saw the claim button.

=====

[New Skill: Killing Intent]

A skill born from repeated acts of slaughter, Killing Intent allows the Host to harness the aura of death itself. Each kill strengthens the skill, generating Aura.

The aura can be used to amplify the Host’s presence, making it more oppressive and terrifying.

=====

[New Skill: Bloodbath]

A brutal skill that enhances every attack with a devastating bleeding effect. When activated, any wound inflicted by the Host will cause the target to suffer an additional 20% bleeding effect, making their injuries far more lethal.

=====

He exhaled slowly, gripping his knife tighter.

’Killing Intent... Bloodbath’

Both skills reflected exactly what did to complete the mission, and they were really useful.

Killing Intent would be useful—if activated at the right moment, even stronger enemies would hesitate, giving him the opening he needed.

Bloodbath was just as good. Every wound he inflicted would make his enemies lose more blood, weakening them faster and increasing his chances of killing them outright.

’I should get back to those three,’ Neo muttered, glancing at the lifeless bodies one last time.

There was still work to do.

When he reached them, they were still fast asleep.

The mercenary, somehow, was still miraculously alive despite taking two doses of the red darts.

’Yeah, there’s no way this guy is normal. Good thing I took him out first.’ Neo frowned and shot him again.

And again.

’Yeah, that’ll kill him,’ he chuckled darkly.

Suddenly, a red mist began rising from the mercenaries’ corpses.

It drifted toward him, swirling before seeping into his body.

A strange sensation washed over him—cold, but oddly invigorating.

’Oh... so this is how I collect Killing Intent.’

Neo flexed his fingers, feeling a faint pulse of energy coursing through him.

It was different from strength—this power didn’t make his body physically stronger. It was something else entirely, something more... unnatural.

"Status," he commanded.

"I’m as fast as I used to be," he muttered, nodding in satisfaction.

His charisma had also increased. Unfortunately, one thing hadn’t changed.

He ran a hand over head and sighed. Still completely bald.

’Well, at least I got stronger,’ he chuckled to himself, trying to lift his mood. Even if his hair refused to grow back, power was a decent trade-off.

’Next,’ His attention turned to the two nurses.

These two weren’t just bystanders—they were directly responsible for all the torture he endured. Every injection, every experiment, every moment of agony.

Neo cracked his knuckles, his expression turning cold. They deserved something special.

’I’ll have fun breaking these scums,’

He picked up the two nurses and carried them into one of the empty rooms.
