Avery's Game Of Revenge -
Chapter 87: Stuart Salvador.
Chapter 87: Stuart Salvador.
However, before she could form the proper words to ask, Leroy suddenly stood up from his seat. His gaze was fixed on a spot behind them while a broad and fawning smile broke out on his face.
"Stuart Salvador is here. I’ll go welcome him and be back soon," he excused himself, hurrying off.
Avery and Jodi’s eyes followed his retreating back to the limo which was slowly pulling up at the side of the road that ran along the shores. Typical of an A-list actor who loved attracting attention.
Not only Leroy was running towards the car; but most of the visitors at the beach were also sprinting after him.
"He’s the lead actor," Avery felt the words drop out of her mouth, before she could hold herself back.
Because well...she knew Stuart Salvador. Not just because of his fame and level of popularity across the country, but also because of Emma.
Owing to the number of movies and drama series they had both starred in as leads, Stuart had been one of Emma’s closest colleague and partner. Avery could vaguely remember her sister bringing an autograph home on her request.
The two had been close. Close enough to eat dinner together in an informal setting more than once or twice.
"He is," Jodi repeated, "Only an actor of his level can be so choosy with the actresses he’s acting with. Now I understand why Manager James said he requested for your pictures."
"Why?"
Jodi turned to meet Avery’s curious gaze, disbelief in her own eyes.
"Why? Ava, I know you’ve been away from this country for years but you really don’t know why?" she asked.
Avery nodded. As someone who rarely read articles concerning even the top business oriented families in the country, there’s no way she was expected to know the rumors surrounding people in the entertainment sector. Partly because she had no time for that and partly because staying away entirely from the entertainment industry was the only way to erase her interest in the sector.
"This is unbelievable." Jodi’s voice held a hint of surprise as she explained, "He’s rumored...no, this is a fact! There are only a handful of women who have acted as his partner in movies, that he hasn’t dated yet. They say it’s so the chemistry can be totally obvious but nah, Stuart dates even the crew members as long as they are pretty."
"Then should I be happy that I’m not the female lead then?"
Jodi nodded instantly, staring at Avery as if she just asked a question that even a five year old wouldn’t ask.
"Absolutely! You forget you are married to Mr Donovan?" She blinked.
Avery chuckled, laughing the question off. She was ’married’ to Mr Donovan yet she hadn’t spoken a single word to him in two weeks and a few days. Same way she wasn’t able to speak to him during the period she was whisked off to the neighboring country, after the incident months ago. He had only talked to Neil and had refused to have a direct conversation with her.
Perhaps...did the man have anything against texting and calling using phones?
"Just look at that," Jodi snapped her out of her thoughts, "He’s the absolute lady killer and he never fails to flaunt it. I guess it’s a good thing as it won’t be hard for me to get into character as Thea," she said, referring to her role in the movie.
Following Jodi’s her line of sight to where Leroy had now opened the car’s door and the blonde haired actor had alighted, Avery’s jaw fell at the scene. The number of bikini-clad ladies and teenagers that had crowded around him couldn’t be counted, and presently, he had this killer smile on his face as he signed autographs for some of them.
"Me too," she whispered. "Doesn’t look like it’d be hard for me to get in character as Sloane."
Jodi whipped her head around, sharply.
"I won’t agree with that, Mrs Donovan. You are married so leave him for us singles."
"I would, Miss Sinclair, if only you really are single. You have a boyfriend, Jo!"
"But I’m not married yet. As long as Neil hasn’t proposed yet, then I shouldn’t see myself as married," Jodi retorted with the same teasing lilt in her voice.
Though she seemed to be joking, Avery could not stop the nagging feeling in her heart that the blonde before her was being serious.
"Shit! Let’s join them, Ava. As much as his words annoyed us earlier, we still have to welcome him first as juniors in the industry," Jodi said, pulling Avery with her as she rose to her feet.
Leroy, Stuart, and the latter’s assistants were done getting rid of the fans and were now headed towards the spot where the crew had set up equipments and props. With Avery and Jodi approaching from the opposite direction, the two groups soon met halfway.
Leroy stepped in between them, assuming the position of the super friendly manager and co-director.
"Mr. Salvador, you wanted to—" he began, when he was immediately interrupted by a grinning Stuart Salvador.
"Just call me Stuart, Leroy. We’ll be working together for months after all and staying formal wouldn’t help either of us in any way."
All while he spoke to Leroy, Avery could feel Stuart’s eyes on her but she didn’t lift her gaze to meet his eyes. Instead, she kept them glued on Leroy just like Jodi beside her was doing.
"Alright then... Stuart," Leroy complied. "Jodi Sinclair and Ava Donovan. Miss Sinclair plays the role of Thea, Tristan’s friend in the script and you wanted to meet Ms. Donovan earlier. She plays the role of Sloane."
Stuart’s eyes widened.
"This is a crime, Leroy. You do know that, right?"
Even though he only had a vague guess of what he did wrong, Leroy was quick to give a small nod and apologize, "I am so sorry for that, Stuart. It’s just...it wasn’t convenient for Ms. Donovan to meet at the time you requested."
"I can see that," Stuart stated, an unreadable expression on his face. "She’s the one who caused waves on the internet because she looks a lot like Ems’ sister, Vee."
His last few words earned him a glance from Avery. He just said Ems’ sister, Vee and not...Avery McCallum, the adopted traitor who murdered her family. He seemed to be much closer to her sister than she thought.
However, as much as those words made her happy, she still found it surprising that Stuart’s voice was bare of any kind of emotion as he spoke. It totally felt like he was talking about someone he had never met before.
"Ah...you knew that?!" Leroy exclaimed, surprise evident in his voice.
