Gently, Archie tucked a loose tendril of hair behind her ear, his touch lingering.

Because in the end, he couldn’t survive without her.

And he wouldn’t.

He blinked when she looked up at him, her voice trembling as she spoke, "Why though? Why couldn’t you just be unreasonable and pull me away from Brian? Whether I wanted it or not at the time?"

A deep exhale escaped his lips. "The answer," he said softly, "is what I told your sister. I can fight a million men who want you. But not the one man you want."

Avery’s lips quivered as she whispered, "Well... now that you’re the one man I want, what then?"

Archie’s eyes darkened with something dangerous and soft all at once. "How about we talk about that after you’re done eating?"

She tilted her head, a teasing spark dancing in her gaze. "How about I eat something else... instead of that food on the table?"

Archie’s breath caught just as he opened his mouth to protest, but she was already pulling him down, crashing her lips into his in a kiss that tasted of grief, fury, and something new, something they hadn’t dared name until now.

Everything went too fast from there on.

Avery reached down and pulled her shirt over her head, flinging it onto the plate of food still lying on the table. But it was the lace bra she was left in that had Archie struggling to remember how to breathe.

"Now that’s just cruel," he growled, letting his eyes graze over her.

"Is it?" she teased, eyes glinting with mischief. "Are you going to do something about it? Now that it seems... I can’t eat the other food anymore."

"You’re damn fucking right I am."

In one swift motion, Archie lifted her and sat her on the counter, stepping between her legs. He began kissing her neck while his hands slid up her back, reaching for the clasp of her bra. Breathy moans slipped past Avery’s lips as he nipped and sucked at her skin; careful not to leave a mark, no matter how tempting it was.

He could vaguely remember she had a shoot in a few days, and hated to do anything that might hinder her from getting chosen.

Her bra popped open, and he dragged it down her arms, letting it fall to the table beside her shirt. Her breasts were perfect, and he immediately covered one with his hand, taking the other into his mouth.

Avery leaned back to give him more room, her head resting against the cabinet as she tangled her fingers into his hair.

Archie lifted her again. She squealed, but the sound was swallowed by his kiss as he covered her mouth with his own. She clung tightly to him, licking into his mouth as they kissed.

In seconds, he had headed over to the stairs, sprinting up the steps to their room.

Once there, he laid her on his bed and stood straight for a moment, admiring how fucking perfect she looked, wanting and needy, just for him.

"You’re stunning," he murmured.

The compliment caught her off guard, but before she could process it, he leaned down and slowly dragged the tip of his tongue from her belly button to the center of her chest, then up to her neck. She squirmed, arching her hips in search of friction he refused to give just yet.

They were all over each other, hands gripping and pulling, desperate for more. But when Avery started to undo his jeans, he stopped her.

Her brows furrowed. "What... Do you not want to?"

"What? That’s crazy talk. Of course I want to," he scoffed. "The other night was amazing, but I took your first time in the front seat of my car. I wasn’t lying when I said you deserve better than that."

"Well, we’re in a bed at the moment. So why aren’t you fucking me into the mattress right now?"

Archie chuckled.

Heck, she was a dream. A whole ass fantasy come to life just to test every ounce of restraint he had.

"I’m going to," he said, pressing his lips to hers again. "But there’s no rush this time. I’m going to enjoy every fucking inch of you. And if you don’t leave here feeling me every time you move, I didn’t do my damn job."

Grabbing her hips, he rolled her on top of him and slid his hands down to her ass. He pulled her down as he arched up into her, giving her exactly the friction she craved. She whimpered into his mouth.

"Too many clothes," she panted. "Please. I need to feel you."

"Oh, you’re going to feel a lot, Angel," he growled.
