Avery's Game Of Revenge
Chapter 131: Lay His Claim.

Chapter 131: Lay His Claim.

As her eyelids fluttered close in total surrender, she thought she heard the sound of the door opening.

Avery gasped, shocked by the sudden onslaught, the sound swallowed by Archie’s mouth. He used the opportunity to deepen the kiss, sliding his tongue inside and exploring her mouth with such lazy sensuality that any resistance she might have had simply floated away.

Before she knew it, she was pressing closer against him, eager for more. The glide of his tongue. The firm hold on her waist. The delicious escalation in pressure; soft at first, then harder, more demanding.

The sound of glass falling to the floor and shattering, broke the heady spell and Avery felt him pulling away from the kiss to bury his face in the nook of her neck, inhaling her scent deeply whilst a guttural groan escaped from his lips.

She kept still, wincing slightly when he gave her a slight nip in her shoulder before raising his head to look into her eyes.

"Fuck it, Ava," he cussed, "Get that look off your face."

Avery didn’t get ’the look’ off her face. Even though she had no idea what look was currently in her eyes, she knew Archie wanted it there. Maybe just not in this situation.

Their ragged breaths filled the space between them as they stared at each other, their chests heaving. Gradually, the world fell back in place around them—the desk, the chairs, the room, and finally... the presence of a third party in the room.

She started, "I thought I just heard—" but was cut off by a familiar voice that came from behind her, "Shit, I’m so sorry, Arch. The secretary told me to come in and... Just, I’m really sorry. Both for intruding and for spilling the juice and messing up your floor."

Orion?! Recognizing the voice in the same instant, Avery whipped her head around to behold his shock stricken face. Dressed in a formal white shirt and gray suit-pants, he was standing awkwardly by the door, an empty tray in hand while a glass that had contained orange juice few minutes ago—judging by the spilled liquid on the marble tiled floor—laid in shards at his feet.

"Hey Ava," he greeted nervously with a small wave, the smile on his face looking very forced.

"Orion, hey. I... I had no idea you were..." Avery cut herself off, refusing to sound stupid, as she returned the wave. Turning her head back to face Archie, she didn’t for one second suspect the mischievous glint in his eyes and only pushed him away to jump down the desk. "Of all the times to kiss," she murmured beneath her breath, her voice just loud enough for him to catch the words.

As soon as she was on her feet, Archie pulled her into his arms so she was facing Orion but had her back pressed against his front.

"It’s a pity, isn’t it?" he asked with a voice loud enough for everyone in the room to hear, and pulled her hair back to kiss her ear. He continued, "He came in just when things were about to get hot."

"What are you doing?!" Avery hissed beneath her breath, trying to wriggle out of the strong arms he held around her. Shouldn’t they be trying to clear the air so Orion wouldn’t have lingering thoughts on what they were doing before he came in? Why the hell did it look like Archie was intentionally trying to make him imagine worse scenes than what he saw?

She looked up at Orion, seeing the way his usually pale face had gone even paler, and made another attempt to escape from the tight embrace she was held in.

"Archie! We aren’t alone," she bit out, her teeth clamping down on the corner of her lower lips to stop herself from yelling.

Archie growled. "Stop rubbing your ass against me or I might just lose control and give you a good reason to be shy. We were caught kissing and not fucking for heaven’s sake, mama," he whispered into her ears, and then said out loud, his sharp blue eyes piercing through Orion’s black ones. "Don’t worry about our visitor, baby. He came into a married man’s office with the knowledge that his wife was in there with him. Surely, he wasn’t expecting us to be discussing business proposals, right, Orion?"

Orion shook his head hurriedly, his eyes widening into such large circles that Archie almost laughed out loud. Of course, he knew his friend’s brother had no idea Ava was in here with him. No one knew, except those present at the meeting he had excused himself from few minutes ago.

Even so, he couldn’t just pass on the opportunity to show Orion where his place in his wife’s life was, right? And that was what he did; he helped Orion to quell all fantasy ideas of having a chance with Avery, and he did that in the most devious way possible.

In actual fact, he’d have gone further than a french kissing her to lay his claim. But he had stopped himself in the last minute because if not, he would have to gouge out Orion’s eyes or cut his ears later on for seeing his wife naked, or hearing her moans.

"I seriously had no idea you were in here, Ava. The secretary, she didn’t tell me anything. Just handed me a glass of... shit! I will call someone to clean this up. I guess you two can finish up in my absence. So sorry."

Orion turned to leave but Avery stopped him. She just looked up from a new message on her phone.

"You should stay, Orion. I’ll just call the cleaner over on my way out—"

"What? You are going nowhere." Archie’s hard gaze turned on her, all hint of amusement in his face having disappeared. "You said you won’t be leaving until your friend arrives."

"I said so," Avery affirmed, typing a quick reply to the message she just received, "and I’m going against my word now. I have to meet someone urgently."

"Who?" he demanded in a voice that required total obedience.

Biting down the ’none of your business’ that sat at the tip of her lips, Avery cast a quick glance at Orion and seeing his eyes on her, she decided to go with their ’sweet couple’ image in front of others. She tiptoed to press a quick kiss at the corner of Archie’s lips, and flashed him a bright smile, "Shoot was cancelled. I’ll go home earlier so don’t stay late at work, Love."
