Chapter 305: Chapter 305: The Pursuit
Shi Hao followed the sound and looked over, only to see a small old man, who appeared to be in his fifties, emerge from behind a huge rock. He was lean, short, and might only come up to Shi Hao’s shoulders.
"Hehe, the Luo Family is really in a hurry!" Shi Hao shook his head, "Are you a member of the Luo Family, or the Luo Family’s running dog?"
Upon hearing this, the old man’s face clearly showed a touch of anger as he snorted, "You have a decent skin, but such a venomous mouth! I am from Self-Observation, do you dare to be so presumptuous?"
"Am I supposed to smile at someone who comes to trouble me?" Shi Hao looked at him with disdain, as if to say, ’How stupid are you?’.
The small old man was instantly infuriated, glaring at Shi Hao and saying, "Brat, you’re courting death!"
He let out a long howl and charged at Shi Hao.
"Damned fate, you lunatic, why are you making enemies everywhere?" the big yellow dog barked. The other was a Self-Observation expert, clearly intent on killing both man and dog, and it certainly didn’t want to die, "Short old man, hostility has a source and debts have an owner, I have nothing to do with your beef!"
Huh, a Spirit Beast?
The old man was taken aback. A ferocious beast that gains wisdom becomes a Spirit Beast, but one that can speak is exceedingly rare among them.
Normally, anyone who encountered such a Spirit Beast would think of making it their Beast Pet.
But when he looked at the big yellow dog, he felt nothing but disdain.
Firstly, it looked too pathetic, completely lacking the majestic and tyrannical aura of a ferocious beast, instead, it had a bald tail, dull fur, and was not shiny at all. Secondly, it had a sharp tongue.
Better for it to be mute than to speak and irritate others.
Forget it, I’ll silence you both. Such a sharp-tongued Spirit Beast, cowardly and afraid of death, would be a liability if kept around, and could very likely bring trouble, especially since it had deep ties with the Ye Family.
"Die!" he roared, as his right palm struck out, emitting fierce flames that could reduce the Other Shore Realm to ashes.
Madman!
The big yellow dog howled miserably. It had pleaded with the man, yet why was his attack even more merciless?
Shi Hao could tangle with Luo Jian, a genius from the Nine Islands, and could even hold his own in a head-on confrontation, but against someone from Self-Observation, he didn’t stand a chance.
He grabbed the big yellow dog in one motion, executed the Cloud Piercing Step, and his speed immediately shot up.
Boom, the small old man’s strike hit nothing but air.
"Yikes, let me go, I really don’t know you, you lunatic!" the big yellow dog yapped desperately.
"Are you sure about that?" Shi Hao laughed, pointing behind them.
The small old man was catching up.
The big yellow dog shivered, knowing that if Shi Hao threw it aside now, it would probably be slapped to death by the old man, a convenient victim silenced.
"No, no!" the big yellow dog frantically clung to Shi Hao with all four limbs, resolved not to let go even in death.
"Kid, you won’t get away!" the small old man said darkly, "If you—a mere islander of the Other Shore—manage to escape, I’ll write my name backward!"
Shi Hao simply smiled, paying him no mind.
As the old man chased, his expression changed.
Damn it, he actually couldn’t catch up to Shi Hao. Although the distance between them didn’t increase, it didn’t decrease either, causing his face to grow hotter.
He was slapping his own face!
"Old man, I don’t even know your name; how would I know whether you’ll write it backward in the future?" Shi Hao’s voice came from up ahead.
This made the small old man even more furious, and, of course, at that moment he definitely wouldn’t reveal his name—why would he deliberately humiliate himself?
"Die old man, come chase me, catch up and I’ll reward you with a mouthful of shit!" Seeing that it was no longer in immediate danger, the big yellow dog also began to let loose.
Dammit!
The little old man trembled with rage. On the Eastern Fire Continent, Self-Observation was definitely among the ranks of the strong, and now he was being ridiculed by a dog like this—how could he not be furious?
"Despicable dog, I will grind your bones to dust!" he shouted loudly, but because Shi Hao was running at high speed ahead, these words only reached Shi Hao’s ears after a delay.
Unfortunately, although he was enraged, he was unable to catch up with his quarry and could only be fruitlessly angry.
Unbeknownst to them, they had already left the Purple Star Sect far behind, and the sky had also grown dark.
Good, opportunity has come.
Shi Hao glanced back and then gathered the Light Element, firing it.
Whoosh, two beams of light shot out, aiming for the little old man’s eyes.
"Hmph, you think I wouldn’t be prepared?" The little old man sneered. He had already covered his eyes with Elemental Power, so although the beams were strong, they couldn’t harm him in the slightest. "Boy, your movement technique is indeed clever, but the energy consumption must be astonishing—damn it!"
He hadn’t finished speaking when suddenly he slipped, his form thrown into disarray.
What’s going on?
Even though he was traveling at a very high speed, with his eyesight, he could clearly see that the area was dry rock with great friction—how could he possibly slip?
He quickly steadied himself and continued the chase; this time, he was more cautious and observant.
Dammit, he eventually noticed that after Shi Hao passed by, the ground would form a thin layer of ice.
No wonder he slipped.
But how was the thin ice formed?
Heh, don’t tell me this kid can also summon the Water Element.
You must know, this guy has already displayed Spirit Roots of light, thunder, and fire. If he can also manipulate the Water Element, wouldn’t he possess four Spirit Roots?
Impossible, there’s no such monster in the world!
It must be some Spiritual Artifact the guy is carrying—that’s the effect of a Spiritual Artifact.
Yes, definitely so.
The little old man couldn’t help but be filled with anticipation. Once he killed Shi Hao, all the treasures on his person would naturally belong to him.
—For a mighty Self-Observation cultivator to take action and chase down someone from the Other Shore Realm was already overkill, there had to be some extra reward involved, otherwise, it really wouldn’t make sense.
However, Shi Hao’s use of the Water Element in combination with the Light Element left the little old man in a very awkward position.
It was night now, and they were in the mountains, making it very easy to lose track of someone. Moreover, even though he protected his eyes with Elemental Power, the intermittent brightening and dimming of the light beams still affected him to some extent.
Plus, having to constantly watch his step was simply exhausting.
After another hundred miles, the little old man was farther and farther away from Shi Hao until eventually, he lost him.
"Ah!" The little old man roared to the sky, his voice turning into waves that caused leaves to drop from trees all around.
He had actually failed.
For a mighty Self-Observation cultivator to take action against someone from the Other Shore Realm and fail.
To him, this was an immense humiliation.
"I will find you and kill you!" The little old man grit his teeth and said. If he didn’t kill Shi Hao, he wouldn’t be able to face Luo Hun. Therefore, he definitely couldn’t return to the Purple Star Sect.
"You can’t escape!"
