Chapter 451 - Chapter 451 Chapter 311 My Tender Ancestor_3
Chapter 451: Chapter 311 My Tender Ancestor_3 Chapter 451: Chapter 311 My Tender Ancestor_3 He then brought out the charcoal stove and started burning the charcoal.
A big bottle of the secret garlic sauce–which made even flip-flops taste good–was placed by the side, and only after that did he reach for the scallops to process them.
First, he scrubbed them clean, and then used a small knife to pry them all open.
In theory, all parts of the scallop are edible, but since Chu Mingcheng’s scallops had just been caught and had not been soaked in water to expel sand, he removed and cleaned all of their innards.
After they were cleaned, he placed the scallops on the charcoal stove. Unfortunately, the stove was a bit small and the scallops were very large, so he could only cook four at a time, meaning he’d need to grill in two batches.
He placed some soaked glass noodles on top, followed by a big spoonful of garlic sauce. In no time, the rich aroma spread throughout the entire deck.
A mischievous smile crossed Chu Mingcheng’s face as he took out his phone, snapped a photo, and sent it to the group chat.
This group consisted only of Chen Yang, Zhang Wei, and each of their respective women, created just last night during a dinner gathering.
No sooner had he posted the photo than Zhang Wei immediately replied.
“Damn it, you’re playing dirty! Just when I was about to go to bed, you start spreading your poison?”
Chu Mingcheng wasn’t surprised that Zhang Wei was not currently nestled within Bai Jing’s abundant bosom.
They were officially dating, so of course they were taking it step by step.
Just because Bai Jing agreed to be his girlfriend in a short amount of time didn’t mean she was very open.
However, she was quite understanding of the principle of following one’s partner, and her message immediately followed Zhang Wei’s.
“Exactly! Luoluo, can you bear with your man indulging himself at sea like this?”
Since Chu Mingcheng was not at home, Jiang Luoluo had resumed her usual workload as when she had been single; she had just finished dancing practice.
She had initially planned to take a shower and then lie in bed for a long phone conversation, but now she had changed her mind.
“So, sisters, how about we go out for a late-night snack? It’s my treat!”
Zhang Youning, who had been texting Chen Yang, saw this message and instantly ditched her boyfriend, replying in the group chat, “Sure, sounds great! Where shall we go?”
Bai Jing: “Even though I’m afraid of gaining weight, if Luoluo is the one inviting, I’m definitely in.”
Zhang Wei: “Count me in too!”
Chen Yang: “And me. Ah Cheng, that’s too much!”
Bai Jing: “Why are you guys trying to crash a girls’ night out?”
Zhang Youning: “Yeah, it’s not easy for us to chat if you guys tag along.”
Chu Mingcheng nearly burst out laughing when he saw how the conversation unfolded.
Not only were they being tortured by his culinary ‘poison,’ but they also had to endure being frowned upon by their own women.
Eventually, it was Jiang Luoluo who gave in to their pleas: “It would be dangerous for us three beautiful ladies to go out without a couple of chaperones!”
“How about this: Let’s bring Chen Yang and Zhang Wei along after all. At worst, we can just make them sit at the next table over.”
Chu Mingcheng: “Wife, well done!”
Chen Yang, Zhang Wei: “…”
Most restaurants probably closed for the night at this late hour, leaving only the street vendors still open.
Some guys just need a sip of booze to get emboldened; once they’re tipsy, they’re up for anything.
Even if Jiang Luoluo hadn’t suggested it, Chu Mingcheng would have insisted that Chen Yang and Zhang Wei accompany them.
Of course, Bai Jing and Zhang Youning were just kidding all along.
As Chu Mingcheng finished grilling the first four scallops and was about to start on the remaining three, they had already started posting pictures in the group chat to ‘poison’ him back, seemingly in retaliation.
But to tell the truth, with the delicious garlic sauce flavor, the scallops with glass noodles were absolutely top-notch, so the food pics being shared in the group chat hardly affected him.
However, Zhang Wei started to show off. Every time a skewer of lamb came up, he’d ask, “Do you have that over there?”
When the grilled lamb ribs arrived, he asked again.
And with each new dish that was served, he continued to ask, which finally irritated Chu Mingcheng.
Chu Mingcheng decided to make a video call. Once connected, he chuckled and picked up a lively Rat Spot.
“See this? Rat Spot, a wild one weighing more than three pounds!”
He then found a stand to fix his phone next to him and started streaming himself killing the Rat Spot.
“This kind of Rat Spot, at least five hundred yuan per pound, you’ve never eaten something like this grilled fish, have you, Ah Wei?”
“Ah, my mistake, you’ve never even fished for Rat Spot, so how could you have eaten it, right?”
“I’ve got six more Rat Spots here. If you call me ‘brother,’ I’ll just…”
Before he could finish, Zhang Wei affectionately called out, “Bro, you’re my real brother, alright! Who wouldn’t agree to calling someone ‘brother’ for a free Rat Spot?”
Chu Mingcheng chuckled: “You wish. Call me ‘brother,’ and I’ll just eat in front of you to show you!”
“Damn, Ah Cheng, I’m your dad!” Seeing himself played, Zhang Wei promptly gave the finger to the screen.
Chu Mingcheng arched an eyebrow and retaliated instantly, “I’m your ancestor!”
“Hahaha…”
The rapid-fire repartee from Chu Mingcheng and Zhang Wei’s dumbfounded, indignant expression sent the others into fits of laughter.
Chu Mingcheng multitasked as he talked to them, hanging up the video call only after he had finished grilling the whole Rat Spot.
But after cooking the grilled fish, Chu Mingcheng didn’t eat it either. Instead, he wrapped it well with cling film and left it in the kitchen to eat the next day.
…
The next day, after eating two pieces of bread and drinking a glass of milk for breakfast, Chu Mingcheng set sail to check his shrimp traps.
When he pulled up the first shrimp trap, he was somewhat surprised–it was unusually heavy!
Indeed, as the shrimp trap fully emerged from the water, the rich shrimp and Spot shrimp inside barely had room to move–there were so many of them.
A single trap was three-quarters full, and he reckoned it contained about sixty or seventy pounds of shrimp.
Such a haul was common in aquaculture farms, but at sea, it was rather extraordinary.
