As a Fisherman, My Fish Can Level Up -
Chapter 358 - Chapter 358 Chapter 285 Leaving Alone
Chapter 358: Chapter 285: Leaving Alone Chapter 358: Chapter 285: Leaving Alone Carrying six Gan’s Giant Claw Crabs in his hand, Chu Mingcheng did not plan to put them into the crab cage, but directly bring them back to his own boat.
Therefore, he swam towards the surface and in the direction of the Sea God at a roughly thirty-degree angle upwards, slowly making his way.
Swimming directly to the surface, he could adapt to the water pressure himself, but it would definitely affect these deep-sea crabs.
Live crabs are valuable, so he would definitely try to ensure their vitality.
Swimming in the pitch-black deep sea is a terrifying thing, one can’t see their hand in front of their face, only the bright light from the flashlight can illuminate a small area, but farther away things become murky.
Darkness enveloped Chu Mingcheng, as if something could rush out from the surroundings at any time.
Under normal circumstances, people would be scared in a pitch-black environment, especially when their mind incessantly conjures up associations, which only serves to amplify one’s fear.
But Chu Mingcheng didn’t experience such a mentality; some people are just naturally brave.
Previously, on the way to school near his old house, there was a path with graves on either side.
The majority of the kids going to school there would walk together in groups, but Chu Mingcheng, who had good grades as a child, liked to finish his homework at school before going home.
As a result, he often walked that road alone in the evening or even when it got dark, and at first, he did get goosebumps.
But after only three or four times, he never felt that way again.
When watching horror movies, Chu Mingcheng only felt a bit of a thrill when ghost suddenly appeared, but he quickly returned to his normal state of mind afterward.
Now, deep-sea diving might be frightening for many people because of the surrounding environment, but his mind was completely filled with thoughts of Mana, leaving no room for fear.
Just as he was about to reach the surface, he found himself surrounded by a swarm of tiny shrimp.
It seemed these little shrimp were the raw material for making shrimp flakes, which could be quite valuable once dried.
However, he had no interest in them and, carrying the Gan’s Giant Claw Crabs, continued swimming towards the surface.
But the next moment, a colossal abyssal maw appeared before him, rushing straight at him as if it meant to swallow him whole in one bite.
Chu Mingcheng’s pores stood on end, and his scalp exploded with fear; even with his great courage, he was terrified by this startling scene.
His heart raced this instant, and his legs frantically moved, propelling him upwards over a dozen meters.
After dodging and looking back, he saw a massive creature swimming slowly beneath him. Given its pace, unless Chu Mingcheng remained stationary, there was no way it could catch up.
He blinked, and once he recognized the creature, he immediately breathed a sigh of relief; it was just a bluntnose sixgill shark.
The thing looked so clumsy, especially when it appeared suddenly in his line of sight while feeding–he almost thought he had encountered an unknown deep-sea beast.
In the Far Sea, it seems you could encounter just about anything!
Chu Mingcheng, who had just emerged at the surface, poked his head out to catch his breath, then looked around and spotted two fishing boats with their warning lights blinking.
At a distance of about one thousand meters now, he confirmed the direction and quickly headed back.
The rest of the journey was uneventful, without any sudden appearances of Great White Sharks with their mouths full of sharp teeth; Chu Mingcheng safely returned to the Sea God.
The six massive Gan’s Giant Claw Crabs were placed one by one into the live well, which was empty at the moment and available for him to use as he liked.
However, the first live well held thirteen much smaller Gan’s Giant Claw Crabs, which he separated from the rest using a partition.
By the time the lobster pots were brought back the next day, the remaining half of the compartment could be used for sea lobsters.
Aside from fish like Golden Spearfish and Marlin, which die once fished up, Chu Mingcheng tried to keep other marine creatures alive if possible.
If they couldn’t stay alive, then he’d have to store them alive and frozen in the cold storage to ensure the seafood’s freshness.
After three more dives, along with the first one, he had caught a total of twenty-four Gan’s Giant Claw Crabs.
The crabs’ lengthy legs took up quite a bit of space, even when folded up, as a result, the live well could only barely hold twenty crabs.
Of course, if he caught smaller ones, he could fit more.
But a mere few dozen of the extra-large Gan’s Giant Claw Crabs were just a small portion of the seabed crab colony, so he definitely prioritized catching the bigger ones.
After four round trips, Chu Mingcheng was also feeling tired. He used Life Conversion twice to regain some physical strength and all of his energy, mainly to alleviate mental fatigue and sleepiness.
Even if he was full of energy, he couldn’t overcome the natural law to sleep at night.
In the past, using Life Conversion twice could restore all his conditions, but now it took that much just to regain some physical strength, and complete recovery would probably need at least four or five more times.
It wasn’t that the effects of Life Conversion were diminishing; rather, his physical condition had improved so much from before that his limits were much higher.
It’s like a pill that restores two hundred points of health–if one’s health bar is four hundred, then two pills would do the job.
But now, after leveling up, the health bar had reached over a thousand, so naturally, he needed more pills.
After another three dives, apart from the section reserved for sea lobsters, the rest of the live well space was completely filled with Gan’s Giant Claw Crabs.
The sky was still dark, and although Chu Mingcheng was weary, he was entirely capable of making a few more trips.
He lifted his wrist to check his watch.
“Uh…”
The figure of seven hundred and thirty-six meters on it surprised him.
Belatedly realizing, he then understood that his watch had broken.
Thinking about it, that made sense; even though it was a diving watch with basic diving assistance, it wasn’t designed to withstand water pressure, and no one would bother with that aspect.
