Chapter 331: Chapter 277: The Ambergris Sprayed Out_4 Chapter 331: Chapter 277: The Ambergris Sprayed Out_4 Chu Mingcheng took a breath and dove straight down, heading towards the bottom of the water.

When he reached the seabed, he was pleasantly surprised to find some small mounds in the sand bed. Based on his prior experience, there should be crabs hiding inside them.

So, he approached and immediately pressed down on a mound, and sure enough, he not only caught one, but another crab was startled out of the mound next to it.

It was indeed a swimming crab. He caught one and swam to the surface, where, in the sunlight, the crab’s legs and pincers were blue, clearly an Orchid Crab.

The Orchid Crab was not much inferior to the Red Flower Crab and was even tastier than the ordinary swimming crab, commanding a much higher price.

Chu Mingcheng had purchased them before in Xia City’s market, where they were about one hundred yuan per half a kilogram, depending on whether they were male or female.

However, now in the summer, the male crabs had more meat.

The Orchid Crab in his hand was a bit small, so Chu Mingcheng released it and continued swimming towards the interior of the reef.

Since there were Orchid Crabs here, he would definitely place the crab traps in this area at night.

But as for what other treasures might be inside, that remained to be seen.

However, after he had circled the reef, he felt somewhat disappointed.

The reefs weren’t very large. While there were indeed many mounds that could hold Orchid Crabs, there weren’t many other fish, at least not the valuable sea bream or Stone Fish he was hoping to find.

The area was home to many small fish and some oysters and shellfish on the rocks.

Chu Mingcheng was now on the other side of the reef, where the sand bed sloped downward, clearly becoming deeper the further forward one went.

He checked the time and it was still early, so he decided to dive deeper to see what he might discover.

If he had found an Ishikawa Coarse Fin Fish in the waters where he had stopped his boat, maybe there were more good things to find here.

As he ventured deeper, the surroundings grew darker, and Chu Mingcheng took out his flashlight, turning it on to continue downwards.

Luckily, he had considered the possibility of deep water diving and had brought a flashlight with him, or else he would have had to go back by now.

Before he knew it, he had reached a very deep spot. He checked his dive watch, which showed a depth of two hundred and twenty-one meters.

Yet, he could dive even deeper.

However, in this part of the water, he saw several jet-black fish. He couldn’t tell if it was the depth that made it hard to distinguish the fish’s color, or if they were naturally this dark.

Chu Mingcheng stopped. The fish in front of him had reached lengths of over fifty centimeters.

Moreover, their eyes were a bit large, and their appearance somewhat resembled the Long-tailed Shore Bream, though their tails weren’t as long or as pretty.

Out of curiosity, Chu Mingcheng loaded his speargun and aimed at one of the fish whose species he couldn’t discern at the bottom of the water. He chose the largest one and took it down with a single shot.

The hit fish spun around several times at the bottom of the water. Unfortunately, it was hit in a vital spot, and after struggling for a while, it lost movement and was reeled in by Chu Mingcheng, who hooked it onto his live fish leash.

The rest of the fish were spooked and fled, but they didn’t go too far.

Chu Mingcheng swam forward another ten meters or so and saw them again, but this time he didn’t hunt any more.

He needed to wait until he got back to the surface to identify what kind of fish they were before deciding whether to hunt them.

The water pressure at this depth was still far from reaching the limit of his body, and it seemed he could go even deeper, so he didn’t turn back.

It was only after diving more than a hundred meters further, reaching a depth of over three hundred and fifty meters, that he finally arrived at the bottom.

The bottom was not the sandy bed he had imagined, but a very long trench, with an estimated width of five to six meters.

The number of fish living here was quite large, swimming around, seemingly in peace.

But that was not important. Chu Mingcheng discovered a group of fish that were meter-long, which, based on their appearance, looked very much like the type he had hunted.

These fish had some slender ones that looked rather thin, while others were round and chubby.

If it weren’t for Chu Mingcheng’s close observation of their appearance, he might have mistaken them for two different species.
