As a Fisherman, My Fish Can Level Up -
Chapter 308 - Chapter 308 Chapter 263 The End of the Trip to Australia
Chapter 308: Chapter 263 The End of the Trip to Australia Chapter 308: Chapter 263 The End of the Trip to Australia The wait was tough to endure, and it would be at least ten hours before Noah could get here.
Chu Mingcheng took out a tin-coated long stick, sitting in the vehicle on guard against approaching carnivorous animals–primarily other crocodiles.
As the morning went by without incident, he let out a sigh of relief.
He took out the bread he bought to fill his stomach and took a sip of water. Chu Mingcheng was still somewhat resigned to his dietary situation.
Every time he hunted Saltwater Crocodiles, it was practically all about eating various types of Western-style bread. He thought fishing at sea was more comfortable since he could cook whatever he wanted.
He thought the afternoon would pass quietly as well, but unfortunately, the dead Saltwater Crocodile still attracted the attention of its own kind.
A crocodile, the size of a small car, was slowly making its way over, looking like it was over four meters long.
This wasn’t a good sign, and it looked like there would be busy work in the afternoon!
Chu Mingcheng picked up the tin-coated long stick and faced the giant Saltwater Crocodile.
Crocodiles have poor eyesight, but it still noticed the dark shadow in front of it and immediately opened its massive jaws to bite.
Crocodiles are sprinters; they’re fast over short distances, but that depends on the type of crocodile.
A Saltwater Crocodile over four meters tends to be broad and fat, with limbs just strong enough to move around, let alone run quickly.
No way!
Those that can run fast are the ones around two meters long, when the bodyweight is not yet a burden.
Therefore, Chu Mingcheng didn’t even dodge, but struck hard with his stick right on the crocodile’s sensitive nose.
The blow didn’t make the crocodile’s snot fly, but it did manage to scare it somewhat.
Of course, Chu Mingcheng had not used his full strength. He was afraid that if he did, he might damage the crocodile’s nose and instead rile the animal into a ferocious frenzy, so scaring and hurting it was enough.
The Saltwater Crocodile recoiled, then snapped its jaws again randomly, only to bite air.
A few more strikes from Chu Mingcheng’s stick were remarkably effective, the pained and frightened Saltwater Crocodile finally stopped its advance and turned to head back to whence it came.
Its steps were much quicker than when it had arrived.
Time slowly slipped by until the transport vehicle called by Noah arrived as the sun hung in the west.
Chu Mingcheng planted the long stick into the ground and relaxed slightly, relieved that help had finally come.
He had knocked around quite a few crocodiles that afternoon; one particularly stubborn one kept chasing him to bite, almost causing him to shatter its parietal bone.
Good thing the stick was sheathed in tin–if it had been a solid core, he may have knocked out a little friend with each blow.
The larger ones were tough to knock around, but for the smaller ones, with his current strength, it was not difficult.
“Wow, this is really a big treasure, I need to take a picture with it,” said Noah as soon as he got out of the car, immediately cozying up to the crocodile and asking for someone to take his photo.
“Hurry up, I’m really eager to get back, have a wash, and sleep,” said Chu Mingcheng, unable to hide his impatience as he watched Noah dilly-dally.
Northern Australia, located near the equator, is so much hotter than Melbourne. There weren’t seasons in this place, just one word–hot!
The Saltwater Crocodile had been dead for about ten hours by now. If it wasn’t hoisted into the transport truck and placed on ice soon, the meat would likely go bad.
Noah, who was prying open the crocodile’s mouth, smiled sheepishly at Chu Mingcheng’s words, and quickly joined the transport driver to hoist the Saltwater Crocodile into the truck.
With a crane on the pickup truck and the help of several grown men, the Saltwater Crocodile was soon transferred to the transport vehicle, and then the group headed back to the city.
Chu Mingcheng sat in the passenger seat, resting with his eyes closed, finally able to relax after a tense afternoon.
By the time they got back to the city area, it was already past 2 in the morning. They checked into a hotel for some sleep and didn’t wake up until after 10 o’clock the next morning.
Chu Mingcheng and Noah first went to the City Hall to submit their video for review.
As he expected, despite missing a few minutes of footage of the Saltwater Crocodile, the crucial parts of the killing process were captured, and they successfully passed the review.
Afterward, they took the Saltwater Crocodile to the trade market. A Saltwater Crocodile over six meters long was indeed rare.
It weighed a total of two thousand three hundred and twenty-three pounds and was sold for seventy-three thousand Australian dollars.
Noah, getting close to fifteen thousand, couldn’t stop grinning.
This nearly fifteen thousand Australian dollars came so easily to Noah, that any previous reservations he had about Chu Mingcheng’s proposed share were gone.
Though the Saltwater Crocodile died in an underhanded way, being ambushed,
not just anyone could dispatch it with a spear.
Now, he had one comment about Chu Mingcheng: a natural-born hunter.
So, Noah cooperated very well with the subsequent crocodile hunting.
With a hunting rifle at hand, and their collaboration, the efficiency of the two men was incomparably higher than before.
Later, Noah even specifically hired someone to wait at the City Hall; just one video submission could earn a hundred Australian dollars. So their efficiency improved even further.
A month and a half flew by in the blink of an eye for Noah.
He had made a killing during that time; aside from the three hundred thousand from the Emperor Crabs, just hunting Saltwater Crocodiles had netted him three hundred and thirty thousand Australian dollars.
Chu Mingcheng made even more, totaling six hundred and seventy thousand.
It was only half more than Noah’s earnings, primarily because most of the time the Saltwater Crocodiles were taken down with a hunting rifle, sparing him from engaging them in hand-to-hand combat.
But all good things must come to an end, and it was now July 15th. Chu Mingcheng needed to work on his seafood guide experience.
Reluctant to part ways, Noah had no choice but to bid farewell.
Having earned over six hundred thousand with Chu Mingcheng, he was no longer interested in following someone else around as an assistant.
Of course, Noah still didn’t see himself as the main force.
He was already quite content with the money he had earned, so he was ready to have a good time and experience a few days of opulence.
His wife and child had already gone back to China at the beginning of July, so when he returned to Melbourne, there would be no more indulging.
Moreover, a major event had occurred back home during this time; the domestic troops had once again come to Treasure Island Strait for exercises.
The last exercise had opened up the Treasure Island Strait, allowing the fishermen along the coast of Fusheng to no longer worry about being inexplicably arrested by Treasure Island officials.
This time, the exercises had successfully opened up the waters to the east of Treasure Island.
In other words, domestic fishermen could now share the fish-rich waters with the fishermen of Treasure Island, which was definitely good news for Chu Mingcheng.
Originally, he would have had to go to the Far Sea to fish for Golden Spearfish, having to head to Dongsha where there was only a small chance to encounter the Bluefin Tuna.
But now with the opening of the waters to the east of Treasure Island, the chances of encountering the Bluefin Tuna there had increased somewhat.
After the Saltwater Crocodile hunting ended, Chu Mingcheng bid goodbye to Noah and began searching for various marine creatures he had not encountered before in Australia.
For about ten days, he was almost constantly changing locations each day.
Until eventually, he found himself back in Victoria, where he caught the Australian treasure, the Murray Cod, in the Darling River.
Unfortunately, the sale of this fish is mainly through aquaculture; otherwise, Chu Mingcheng might have considered targeting it.
In about ten days, he had spent over five thousand Australian dollars, but the experience points of his marine life encyclopedia had reached thirty-three.
Reaching nearly half of the upgrade threshold, Golden Finger’s upgrade could not be measured in money and time, and Chu Mingcheng felt it was worth the time spent.
After all, whether or not he would come to Australia again in the future was uncertain.
Having purchased a ticket home, Chu Mingcheng boarded a plane to say goodbye to the Australian winter.
The seasons in the southern hemisphere are the opposite of the northern hemisphere; here, June to August is winter.
However, during his time in Australia, he almost always wore short sleeves, mainly because the winter here is like the late autumn in Xia City, getting cool only at night.
On July twenty-seventh, at ten-thirty in the morning, Chu Mingcheng walked out of the airport, pulling his suitcase.
Just then, a familiar voice rang out.
“Ah Cheng, over here, over here!”
Chu Mingcheng, following the sound, saw Jiang Luoluo waving at him with a radiant smile.
Today she wore a white blouse and a high-waisted short skirt, her long, white legs exposed and very eye-catching.
Her delicate feet were wrapped in a pair of yellow mid-calf socks, paired with black and white sneakers.
Her hairstyle was simple, just a high ponytail, and due to the intense sunlight today, she also wore a baseball cap.
Youthful and beautiful, indistinguishable from a university student, she attracted frequent glances from the men and women leaving the airport.
‘Such a beautiful girl is my wife; it was worth staying chaste for her in Australia.’
Chu Mingcheng revealed a bright smile, quickly approached her with his suitcase, and then opened his arms.
Almost two months apart, Jiang Luoluo could no longer contain her longing and threw herself into his arms.
The two of them didn’t care about the stares around them and embraced each other tightly.
“Ah Cheng, I missed you so much!”
“I missed you too,” Chu Mingcheng said tenderly while holding her.
But the next moment, an image flashed across his mind.
Embracing during the day, serving at night…
Embracing Jiang Luoluo, Chu Mingcheng suddenly felt a bit bashful and touched his nose awkwardly–his brain seemed to be urging him after such a long time without meat. He promptly let her go.
Well, mainly because it was too hot to embrace in the summer heat; better to cool down at home with the air conditioner and talk then.
“Let’s go home first; it’s too hot out here!”
“Okay, the car’s parked over there.” Unaware of anything, Jiang Luoluo took his hand and led him towards the car.
Along the way, she kept talking incessantly, asking Chu Mingcheng what he had been up to in Australia.
Even though she had already heard some of it over the phone, she still asked.
Chu Mingcheng wasn’t impatient, and briefly recounted the Emperor Crab fishing but turned the Saltwater Crocodile hunting into fishing for Golden Spearfish.
Back at Jiang Luoluo’s home, he casually tossed his suitcase aside and then slumped on the couch.
Relaxing as soon as he got home, he immediately felt a bit of fatigue, mostly mentally.
Jiang Luoluo had ordered some dishes from a Chinese restaurant and then opened his suitcase to help sort and organize it, playing the role of a good homemaker.
Chu Mingcheng lay on the couch, but his eyes kept following her as she bustled about, and he felt somewhat emotional.
Jiang Luoluo, apart from dancing, used to hardly know how to do anything else.
House cleaning was done by a housekeeper, clothes mostly went into the washing machine except for those that had to be hand-washed, and cooking was out of the question.
Now, even though she still seldom cooks, she has learned how to do it.
And other household tasks have improved significantly from before.
A woman truly changes a lot after having a man she loves.
