Chapter 152: She Cares About You!
Chapter 152: Chapter 152: She Cares About You!
Lionel Yeager stared blankly at the face in front of him, and after a long while, he called out: "Sister Betty..."
It turned out that the woman in the car was none other than Julie Stewart.
Julie Stewart asked with a puzzled expression: "Mullen, what are you doing here?"
But Lionel didn’t answer.
Julie Stewart frowned and said: "Get in the car first before we talk."
Without saying anything, Lionel opened the car door and sat in the back seat.
After Lionel got in the car, Julie Stewart asked: "Have you eaten yet?"
"No."
Lionel shook his head.
He hadn’t had a chance to eat before that incident happened, and he’s been starving ever since.
Julie Stewart told the driver: "Go to Riverside House."
"Yes, Third Madam."
The driver nodded, and then started the car, leaving the place.
All the way, Lionel remained silent, just staring out of the window, lost in thought.
Julie Stewart could tell that something must have happened, or else the young man wouldn’t be so quiet.
But what exactly had happened?
Why would he walk alone on the street, looking so pitiful and lonely?
Although Julie Stewart was very curious and puzzled, she didn’t ask any further questions.
This is the difference between mature women and young girls.
Mature women tend to consider things from other people’s perspectives.
She thought that Lionel needed some quiet time and not to be disturbed.
Before they knew it, the car stopped in front of a restaurant.
Lionel got out of the car and followed Julie Stewart into the restaurant.
Since Julie had already reserved a table on their way, the waitress led them to a spot on the Third Floor.
It was an open-air balcony with only one table, not far from the endless Dragon River.
The evening breeze was gentle, and the bright moon hung high in the sky, creating a pleasant scenery.
After they took their seats, Julie Stewart ordered some dishes from the menu.
"Please wait a moment," said the waitress before leaving.
Once the waitress left, the atmosphere became quiet again.
Lionel just stared blankly at the river in the distance without saying a word.
Julie Stewart remained silent as well, admiring the river view.
Shortly afterwards, plate after plate of dishes were brought to the table.
Lionel didn’t say much, and started eating with his head down.
Julie Stewart ate a little bit, then put down her chopsticks, propped her chin, and looked at Lionel with shining eyes.
When Lionel had eaten enough, Julie Stewart finally spoke: "Tell me, what happened?"
Lionel gulped down some water, shook his head, and said: "Nothing."
"Your face is full of worry, and yet you tell me there’s nothing wrong."
Julie Stewart rolled her eyes, and said: "If you still consider me your sister, tell me what’s going on, and maybe I can help."
With a deep sigh, Lionel no longer hid anything, and told Julie Stewart about the incident that happened at that western restaurant not long ago.
It wasn’t until Lionel had finished talking that Julie Stewart nodded, understanding the situation: "So that’s what happened."
Lionel said with a bitter smile: "Sister Betty, during the time I’ve spent with Julia, she’s never really trusted me.
This happened again today, and it really hurt me.
I’ve been sincere to her, but in the end, this is the result I get..."
Julie Stewart ran her fingers through her hair and sighed: "After all, you haven’t been with Julia for very long, so it’s normal for her not to trust you completely.
But I think Julia cares about you. If she didn’t care, would she be angry at you?"
"Does she really care about me?"
Lionel asked incredulously.
"Yes, she must care about you very much. It’s precisely because she cares that she’s afraid you might be that kind of person."
Julie Stewart replied and then added: "From what I know about Julia, if she didn’t care about you, she wouldn’t bother about what you’ve done.
Believe it or not, she’s probably desperately looking for you right now."
Lionel asked in surprise: "Will she look for me?"
"Definitely."
Julie Stewart nodded, and then asked: "Didn’t she call you?"
Lionel replied: "My mobile phone is turned off."
Julie Stewart said: "Turn on your phone and take a look. You’ll know if what I’m saying is true."
Lionel didn’t completely believe her, but he turned on his phone anyway.
As expected.
As soon as the phone was switched on, more than a dozen missed calls and dozens of messages from Julia showed.
Julie Stewart smiled and said: "Now do you believe me?"
Lionel nodded, a complex look in his eyes.
Could it be that Julia really said those things to him because she cared about him?
At this moment, Julia called again.
Lionel hesitated, not sure whether to answer or not.
But before Lionel could make a decision, Julie Stewart picked up his phone and turned it off again.
"Sister Betty, what..."
Lionel was utterly confused.
Julie Stewart said: "It’s time for Julia to learn a lesson as well.
Having been the little princess of the Stewart Family since childhood, she’s grown accustomed to people revolving around her, which resulted in her prideful and aloof personality.
This time, she should taste what it’s like to be ignored."
Lionel frowned and said: "Won’t this cause some problem?"
"She treated you like this, and you’re still worried about her. It seems you two are really destined for each other," Julie Stewart said half-jokingly and half-enviously before reassuring him: "Don’t worry, she’ll be fine.
And I’m just letting you ignore her for a while, not forbidding you from looking for her.
I believe that after this incident, your relationship will definitely become stronger."
Lionel joked: "You can’t beat the wisdom of age."
Julie Stewart glared at him, "What do you mean? Are you implying I’m old?"
"No, no, no, I didn’t mean that."
Lionel shook his head quickly, "Sister Betty, how could you be old? You look like a young girl in her twenties.
You should’ve seen how the men looked at you when we entered the restaurant just now. They wanted to devour you with their eyes.
As for how they looked at me, it was like looking at a pile of cow dung, full of envy, jealousy, and hatred."
Julie Stewart giggled, and asked: "So you’re very proud and satisfied?"
"Absolutely."
Lionel grinned: "How many men can have a stunning beauty like you, Sister Betty, to have dinner with and chat?"
Julie Stewart’s cheeks flushed slightly, and she asked subconsciously: "Mullen, I quite like you.
If I weren’t Julia’s aunt, would you be with me?"
"Huh?!"
Lionel was stunned, turning speechless.
"Hahaha..."
Julie Stewart laughed heartily, her laughter so enchanting, "Mullen, I’m just joking with you. You didn’t really believe it, did you?"
Lionel took a deep breath and laughed awkwardly: "Sister Betty, don’t make such jokes, my heart can’t take it."
"Hmph!"
Julie Stewart snorted and then got up to walk toward a white piano nearby on the balcony.
